Book and synopsis
The Soul Reapers: The Human Harvest Has Begun
Patrick Knight’s life turns chaotic when he starts receiving an unexpected series of reanimated visitors, each departing a fragment of a message. A tale unfolds, as old as time itself, relating humanity’s darkest untold secrets—the biblical story from the Devil’s point of view. Knight’s mind becomes unhinged. He repeatedly finds himself covered in blood. Suddenly he becomes a fugitive from the authorities, wanted in connection to multiple killings. But he doesn’t travel alone; death and destruction precede him. Whole villages are eerily silent, with corpses littering the streets, as a new plague from an unimaginable source starts to sweep the country. At an old farmhouse, Knight comes face to face with mankind’s worst nightmare. Buried in a field is the answer to all the riddles that climaxes in a terrifying twist

So many writing projects I have started, but become bored with them, and so have cancelled. I am currenly planning a novel which hopefully will last longer than my other stories. I sent a story in once but they rejected it; it was "too patchy".

Well, this is a bit of a far cry from the rest of you guys, but I have had three poems published in three books containing poetry from other teenagers across Northern Ireland. Its not much, but it is a nice wee start.
The poems were called:
'Its a dogs', The Write Stuff
'It', Poetry In Motion
'World of the Paranormal', Great Minds.

I contributed 3 chapters to a 1990 book called
Walking Britain's Coast (although a chap called Richard Sale was officially credited as author, my name is simply credited as a contributor) - it was a big glossy 'coffee table' book with lots of ariel photos of Britain's coastline and a text describing the best routes for walking it. I wrote the bits on East Anglia

It's now out of print. Probably just as well, as much of what I wrote will also be out of date by now!

I've got several novel-length stories I want to publish, but am having trouble making the time to refine my notes into manuscripts for. Bleh... I've been working on some shorter projects, hoping a complimation(however that's spelled) will sell well enough for me to take time off for more time to spend on my writing.

well, follow the link and all will be revealed..lol. If you don't like following links (and who could blame you these days..lol) here's the blurb for both books (third and final on the way if I get my finger out...rofl):
QUOTE
Mercury Rapids is the story of Bill Lewis. An astronomer by profession, he has made a career of debunking UFO sightings... until he encounters a UFO himself.
As he struggles with his own beliefs, he finds himself becoming embroiled in a war between the alien Greys and the secretive Orion Committee; Britain's version of Majestic Twelve. Now he must fight not only for his own life, but for the lives of those around him.
Mercury Rapids is a chilling, fast-paced sci-fi conspiracy thriller that will leave you asking yourself.... Are we really alone?
-----------------------------------------------------------
Mercury Rapids: The Thoth Imperative picks up where Mercury Rapids left off. The Greys are returning to Earth, but with a sinister new agenda. Determined to make amends to The One for their tinkering with mankind, they have decided that Earth should be wiped clean of all life. To facilitate this radical solution, the Greys have enlisted the services of a race of aggressive, mercenary aliens known only as the Others.
Bill Lewis returns to aid the top-secret Orion Committee, his stubborn, sarcastic demeanour causing headaches once again for Sir Donald Quentin-Smythe, head of the British UFO organization. Together with his ex-wife, Anne, he must once again struggle against the raging currents of uncertainty and rely upon his wits to save the world… again.
Mercury Rapids: The Thoth Imperative gives us more of the high-octane action and wry humour that made Mercury Rapids such a joy to read.

Keep writing...lol
I have to admit that my books are self-published (one through Bookbooters and the second through iUniverse) because 'traditional' agents and publishers kept telling me that although they liked the books, they wouldn't know how to 'push them' (!!??). So I ended up doing them myself. Gets them out there for all to see.
I've had some good reviews anyway, so I'm happy that at least
some people enjoyed them...lol

How did you find self-publishing? I had the same problem with publishers and am hoping to do the same thing this summer. I'm not too worried about the publishing process, but how did you move your books afterwards? Not after making millions, but I don't particulalry want a garage full of books either, lol.

Try iUniverse (
http://www.iuniverse.com )
Yeah, you have to pay up front, but they're quite fast and you can have a copy of your book in your hands in two or three weeks.
They have various programs, from the most basic where you do all your own editing and merchandising to expensive 'all-in' programs where you get professional editorial servies and marketing help.
Obviously, I went for the cheapest option...lol
You don't get a garage full of books, because the technology is Print-On-Demand. Retailers or customers can order as many books as they please.

I presently have several stories published on fanfiction.net. I need practise in my grammer and sentence structure, so I work off the reviews of readers here.

Yeah, but that's easier said than done. How many perfectly good novels get cast aside by agents/traditional publishers every year? Thousands.
In my own experience, I've been told by both agents, publishers and independent reviewers that my books are well-written and enjoyable and worthy of publication, but time and again I get the excuse that they 'wouldn't know how to promote it'.
It beggars belief sometimes. You really do have to be in the right place at the right time. And most people aren't.

The author of "Dances With Wolves" suffered 20 years of non-stop rejection. John Grisham sold copies of his first novel out of the trunk of his car. A self-published ebook called "Lip Service" was discovered by a big publisher and is now a hardcopy bestseller. Diana Gabeldon was discovered by somebody with publishing connections when she posted a few chapters of her novel to friends on an internet bulletin board.
The ebook route was a good idea until recently. Nowadays, ebook publishers are nearly as hard to please as Simon & Schuster.
I had a novel published in ebook, it sold great from Amazon and BN, was in the top ten for over a month at Amazon in 2003. So I published it in trade paperback with iUniverse, and that is selling well too. The title is "Forgotten Lore" by Carly Corday. It's an erotic romance set in pre-flood Egypt and ancient Britain. NO CHILDREN, ADULT WOMEN ONLY.
I have an ebook with Archebooks Publishing, a paranormal novella called "Manus Lorne". Also not for kids! (Don't touch that button.)
I was an associate editor at Archebooks Publishing until recently. Archebooks works through agents-only but the web site gives a list of agents they work with. I think you'd find most of them very open to interesting new submissions - but book length only, and preferably fiction.
I've got a historical romance trilogy coming out at Archebooks in October, hardback, under my new pen name "Charlotte Corday." This one, underage women CAN buy. It's a metaphysical tale as well as a historical. Was an ebook originally, a bestseller at Amazon, with rave reviews from some of the toughest critics.

I don't have anything published at the moment but I'm working as hard as I can to finish my novel [It's coming along very good] and get it published. I will of course give you guys at UM at taste when its far along but it's never been posted and all the information on it is uptight so I have more time to work and less distractions. Maybe you'll see it on shelves in a few years, hopefully followed by sequels.
If anyone wants a synopsis or any info on the storyline/plot I will be free to give out information but I'm not going to release too much until later on. I feel that it's very original and powerful.

I've decided to give you a short summary of my story anyway, I'll do the best I can in writing it this time of night [This is just supposed to be an outline, probably not what would be on the back of a book]
"Sometimes the most unlikely people are the ones destined to be in power. Sometimes the affiars of men awaken a lond dead, defiling anger. Sometimes the affairs of God's become the affairs of men. Whatver path a dying and corrupted world is destined to take, the source of the taint will always be the same; power. Occasionally the values of the sanctified become as corrupted as those of the desecrated. History, truth, honor, and respect become values as dead as those slain in the blood fued for a common goal; power. Even when faced with death, the final cause to go on is the hopes and dreams of a better life, love, and whispers of legend. This is the tale of living, breathing, humans, when faced with challenges with victory but a memory and defeat an enemy that can never die as the dirt comes off a tome that will change the way you think of the world, forever."
Im actually impressed that I wrote this at about 1:00 in the morning. Tell me if it makes you want to read or makes you think it sounds boring.

I've spent so many countless years on play by post RPG forums, spinning so many countless storylines, that ammunition for a book is so bountiful that I actually intend to write an entire series based on my character's exploits.
Unfortunately, although I did actually finish one book years and years ago (and get as far as the last couple of characters in a sequel) I just never seem to be able to sit down long enough and actually get to work on one...
Incidentally, the book I actually finished was the first in a trilogy of FF7 fanfics, based on the adventures of an origonal character in the FF7 world, three years before the events of the game. It was something of a mystery thriller, featuring Shinra employees attempting to unearth a spy in their midst supplying crucial information to a splinter group of Avalanche in Junon...of course, as the story unfolded, and they learned more and more about the true nature of their employees, their loyalties begin to shift.
The sequel featured the same characters on the run from Shinra, harboured by the very terrorists they had been ordered to hunt, forced to seek refuge in a long abandoned Shinra Research facility, built decades before the disaster in Nibelheim, where mako radiation had twisted the environment, and its inhabitants. There was a little Resident Evil inspiration there

Only a bit more action orientated...former members of SOLDIER slicing through hordes of mutated beaties...good stuff.
....I should probably post it on fanfiction.net or something...it's on my old computer though, so I'd have to retype the thing word for word onto here to post it...which might actually be a good idea, given all the revisions I'd have to make to get it anywhere near post worthy.
