Full Version: Favourite Movie Trilogy?

Paranoid Android
Hi all,

Just curious as to what your favourite movie trilogy is.

I put my answer as Star Wars, which used to be my favourite. More recently I've been hooked on Lord of the Rings, but I think I'll eventually go back to my old fav.

Your thoughts?

Until next time all,
Super Pancake
Why you put star wars original ain't episode 1-3 part of the story
Paranoid Android
I suppose some would consider it so.

But do you really think Star Wars 1-3 deserve to be in a "best trilogy ever" thread? Maybe ep3 will redeem the rest of the series - I've heard good things about it (although I'm still not getting my hopes too high)

Besides, episode 3 technically hasn't come out yet grin2.gif

Until next time,
Shakezulah
hmm if i had to choose from that list, id probably say Evil Dead, mostly cuz those are 3 of my fav movies of all time. but my persoanl fav is the Blade trilogy.
TooFarGone
I picked star wars, but I liked all of the films anyway.

Oops, I knew I'd forget some.

There is an "other" button though.

Later all,

Edit: Geez, I should have thought more about this. I can't believe I forgot Back to the Future. Thanks Burnside.
BurnSide
Mine would be Back to the future.
Shakezulah
o yeah i forgot about those. Back to the Future is awsome. all 3 of them. those are some of the most fun movies to watch.
TooFarGone
The first BTTF movie was the best.
BurnSide
Of course!

LOTR.....love em!
Super Pancake
Dang I voted for star wars already what about Mad Max trilogy its worth being on the list maybe more then terminator in opinion.
Neo2005
I think it is the Matrix obviously.
But Indiana Jones is a close second.

Also why is scream on the list it;s a crapy series of movies.
Subtemperate
LOTR.....

Again it all depends on taste, but I just love these movies in every way.... direction, acting, costumes, sets... The others have good parts and bad parts to the trilogy, but LOTR is pretty constant in my opinion...

So is the Matrix. tongue.gif The only movies worth watching up there at Star Wars and Indiana Jones, and kind of Lord of the Rings. Anyways, Matrix was almost as bad as the Scream series. But, that's not your opinion and I'm probably gonna cause an arguement so I'll shut up... grin2.gif
TooFarGone
The first matrix was AMAZING!.......................the others sucked.
Subtemperate
I think this is to tell people which is your favourite, not to pick on ones that are other peoples favourites... so if we could stick from doing that... it would be nice.... original.gif

What about Animatrix? I think it was pretty good.

Anyways, for me it's a tie between Star Wars, Indiana Jones, LOTR and The Matrix thumbup.gif thumbup.gif notworthy.gif
TooFarGone
The Animatrix was amazing, but, as it wasn't part of the trilogy, I wasn't refering to it.
girty1600
I can't believe the "Back to the Future" series wasn't in there! lol
Dowdy
Apart from Lord of the Rings it would be Blade series. I liked them all

Terminator - first was crap

Matrix - 2nd and 3rd were just OK

Star Wars - nothing special

Indiana Jones - haven't seen them in ages so i forgot

AztecInca

LOTR for me, I just loved those movies although Blade and Indian jones aren`t far behind!
TheCrow
I can't beleive you put up The Matrix trilogy over Back to the Future... While The Matrix is a good film, which some people forget because they bash the sequels too much, the second one was just WTF and the 3rd one was a little better but they both spoilt what was otherwise, a good sci-fi movie, which didn't really need to be continued...

I pick Back to the Future as my ultimate fave anyway, although LOTR comes in a very close second. The original Star Wars trilogy and Indiana Jones are also worthy of mentions aswell as Terminator, which despite a fairly average 3rd installment, it wasn't as bad as people make it out to be...
FLY SPITTA
Why is star wars on there haha tongue.gif laugh.gif rofl.gif

Lord of the Rings, most definitely. thumbsup.gif My Decembers are now dull not having them premiering.

hey neo, your my pal and all, but i dont think there is a bigger matrix fan on this site than myself cool.gif

no other trilogy goes as deep as the matrix

first matrix was about "birth"

the 2nd was about "life"

and the 3rd about "death"

every single character and event had a purpose and it all tied in together perfectly, the 2nd was my very favorite, i loved the fact that you needed an understanding of computer systems to actually get what was going on, the fighting scenes were unbelievable...its basically a live action anime film..the camera angles and music are untouchable, the matrix trilogy most definetly set the trend...how many other films, comercials, cartoons, etc have used the "rotating" camera trick now since the matrix? a lot of the people who think the 2nd and 3rd editions of the trilogy suck, are missing the meaning behind them. the matrix is meant to be viewed as a whole, not as individual movies, the animatrix, the video game, and the matrix online are all designed to be part of the whole story...no other movie has used every medium to get its point across, the matrix is a combonation of love, action, philosophy, religion, and intrigue all in one, you can watch the trilogy over and over again and still not understand everything that is going on, thats why the matrix is the best trilogy of all time imo

i do feel that the matrix gets overshadowed by other trilogys due to the fact that you dont need an outside understanding to enjoy the lord of the rings, or star wars. in order to enjoy the matrix you have to understand the workings of it, and the only way you can do that is by experiencing all of the mediums, different parts of the story are only expressed through some of these mediums so if you dont play the game, and you never see the animatrix you wont fully understand whats going on in the movies. the matrix franchise is like a giant puzzle, you have to put all the pieces together to form the whole picture, and the best part about it, is that no matter how you put it together, you cant be wrong, the movie closes itself, but leaves enough open for the fan to discuss possible reasons and outcomes, its much like the game silent hill in that respect, there will always be mysteries in the movie, like who/what is the merovingian, and will neo return, how many actual "ones" where there before neo, was smith the actual "one", etc etc thumbsup.gif

I'm sorry, but I have to speak out for Episodes 1-3. mellow.gif

Yes, they DO count. disgust.gif It is called a SAGA. It's George Lucas's story, he is telling it HIS way. Stop bitching and be happy he IS telling it. If I had it my way I would have stopped making them after Empire, since fans are so damn ungrateful most of the time.

I voted "other."

Because STAR WARS counts as a saga and is no longer a "trilogy." And I love The Godfather and the Maraichi movies.

mr_halo

ok this was a tough one for me, i voted for lord of rings, but i wanted to vote for the terminator trilogy aswell, but terminator 3 let it down, a lot yes.gif

all the options are good trilogy's, except scream hmm.gif
SuziSpooks
I voted for the Lord Of The Rings i was torn as i also love the Indiana Jones trilogy aswell original.gif

Ooooh seeking, I'm another Matrix fan here. I recently watched the ending of Revolutions and I was surprised by how it all fit. I love these movies!!!! grin2.gif

(Now, I didn't like very much Enter the Matrix, although I got a little bit more of backstory thumbsup.gif Can't wait for Path of Neo grin2.gif)

I like them all, except Scream is crap and I haven't seen any of Evil Dead.

Lord of the Rings - great, some battles are a little long, plus RotK ends too many times, before actually ending.

Star Wars (original) - all are great, ESB is the best of the three

Star Wars (prequels) - not bad, but not great either. Jar Jar really drug down PM, C3PO made too many camp jokes in AotC, but RotS ruled (Sidious v. Yoda)

Indiana Jones - awsome, ToD was weak and seemed like more of the same, LC was great w Connery.

Scream - just sucked from day one

Terminator - first looks a little dated now, but the story and action are still good. The second was more explosive, although the story suffered somewhat. The third had yet more things that went boom, and story was approaching nil.

Matrix - The first is the unmatched best, but the sequels are not as bad as most people would like you to think. The main problem with reloaded is that it has a lot of philosophy, and requires thinking. The sequels are left somewhat open-ended, like a Twilight Zone episode, they don't explain everything and leave it up to you to make sense of it.

Evil Dead - have not seen

Back to the Future - Like most on this list, the first is the best. Also the second is more confusing/involved, but the third is simple and effective like the first.
