Yeah, since Jurrasic Park i have wondered if they, the dinosaus, ever had colored skin...not just medium grey...most animals today are multicoloured or shaded so what will Discovery do to bring us a greater imagary? Smoother graphics?
Xoisk el Soņador
yea, you just gonna wonder what else is out there to see!

OH MY GOD THAT'S WAYNE DOUGLAS BARLOWE'S WORK!!!!!

I may actually have to get a cable hookup for that! His work is absolutely astounding! It looks like this is an animation of "Darwin IV", which is a very cool book. I really hope he finished "Beylon II".

For anyone interrested, he also did "Inferno" and "Bushfire", which are his "trips to Hell". If I remember correctly, he has Bacheors degrees in both zoology and anatomy, so his artwork is astoundingly lifelike.

looks like it won't be that great. they just guess whats out there adn they are saying " we think they would find us first" adn crap like that when its just a made up 2 hour waste of time. sorry, I'm not gonna care if I see it. it even says " see what scientists THINK whats out there" waste of time
Lord_Kazius
even if it is wha we THINK is out there does not mean it could be interesting to watch....don't be so judgemental before you even see it
Undefined_innocence
Awesome. I hope i get to see it:D

You know, I have an idea that life on other planets is very likely going to look a lot like what we have here on earth. Convergent evolution, you know, different classes of animals that live in similar habitats evolve to look alike. But that is for planets that have the same general characteristics as earth. It's possible that we may not even recognize life on planets with different makeups.

And from what I've seen on the site, everything seems to be inspired by mollusks.

May 14th?

Ok, I'll need to write down ht41 yaM on my forehead, so everytime I look in the mirror it will remind me to watch it.
Lord_Kazius
snuffypuffer i couldn't agree with you more...although there would be differences being that the single cell organism that started it all is most likely different....but the differences wouldn't be mind bogeling...it all depends on climate and terrain and stress on the species and so on....if a species is hunted alot it may develop to become faster or more camoflaged....

Did anybody see this program last night, it was amazing, mind you it was a simulation not real but the just speculation on flight a flight to a foreign planet outside our solar system to see what Darwin IV looked liked and test our first computer AI probes that will make decisions on their own. They sent a ship traveling at 20% of the speed of light to the planet Darwin IV. The ship (Von Brun) had a super computer that sent information back to earth by laser which will take six years to reach earth. It had three probes in it. The probes where called leo (aka Da Vinci), Ike (aka Newton), and Balboa (named after the famous explorer). Anticipating a problem Balboa got destroyed on entry to the planet, but Leo and Ike where launch confirmed the to be destroyed, after that they began their journey. I won't get to any more further details but it was a great show, the animals, plants and environments they discovered and the story was awesome and creative better then Star Wars.

here is a link to the shows webpage give it time to load if you use 56k dial up connection, Alien Planet

I saw it, it was amazing yes.gif . Wouldn't it be cool if we actually got that far in technology? First we have to get used to the hologram, which the two probes used. And hovering probes, maybe we'll have flying cars in the future.

Darwin IV was awesome....I was just thinking of other names for other planetary solar systems grin2.gif .

I think we will get even further Michio Kaku said an exploration like the Darwin IV expedition will take place in 2044 or 49 I dont remember exactly. And the reasons for the probes hovering was because the air is so dense and the gravity is weaker then earth, so I believe it was helium that kept the probes afloat, its nothing special.

My favorite part was the symbiotic sea, and the amazing commentary by Michio Kaku, he said when the ocean was evaporating the sea creatures formed a colony of micro organism and water that formed this gel like sea on Darwin IV and saved what is left of the water, and he said back on earth we have so much water, the giver of life, we have been blessed with so much and we throw our trash in it.

What I think is the most interesting is how the robots we send there will have to do all the thinking and processing of life forms and their behavior when they get there. Say there are intelligent life forms out there... they might think we are the probes! blink.gif

Nah 2044 the m38's used to launch the probes in Darwin IV are still in development by NASA, I don't think they will have it done until 2020-2030, and a ship like Von-brun I have not heard of any NASA info about something like it.
