I was watching the news and they have people that are paralyzed or disabled and they got some machine which wacko.gif amplifies brainwaver or thoughts or something? wacko.gif and the people can think of where they want the computer mouse to go on the screen and it and it moves(not the mouse because there is none but the cursor on the screen).

Anyway saw it, thought maybe somebody wants to try to disprove it. thumbsup.gif

Umm, whats your point?

This is just sensors recording different parts of your brain working and reacting to it. They're not sending their thoughts through the air and into the CPU or anything...
BAB414
First i went on wrong board but i guess beliefs cover this and anyway my point is that the brain is powerful, and that anything is possible.

And my question can you explain how that process explains the brain isn't powerful?

I didnt say that it shows that the brain isnt powerful. Either way, it would depend on what you define as "powerful".
BAB414
Not really a definition but I think of powerful as something usually umm full of power. grin2.gif

But I'm trying to say we don't use, even know, all our brains abilities.
Darkwind
Ok, they are not moving the curser with their brains. The computer is hooked up to electrodes on the persons head. When the person produces a particular brain wave pattern the computer moves the curser. The process is called biofeedback.
It is not psychokinesis sense the computer is moving the curser not the person.
BAB414
Ok, I guess thats understandable my bad for the post, I interpreted it differently.

And how much power would make it powerful? What would you term as power?

Here's some amazing info on brainwaves and how they relate to psychokinesis.

Wouldnt it just be sensors?

using biofeed back technology...it won't be long before we can operate machinery with our minds..unassisted.. then enhancing PK abilities...

Last year the research team demonstrated that laboratory monkeys could be trained to move a robot arm by thought alone. Electrical signals from arrays of micro-electrodes inserted into the outer cortex of the monkey's brain directly controlled a robot arm in a nearby room.

This is 3 years old. Come on.
Jumping to PK is not the same thing.

Wild Divine is a "Inner-Active" product that links a beautiful computer-based adventure game with sophisticated biofeedback hardware. The result is a magical adventure that promotes deeper awareness of the mind/body connection. The game, which runs on your computer, allows you to move through virtual landscapes using the power of thoughts, feelings, breath, and awareness.

The IONS Research Department is collaborating with Wild Divine in 2004/05 to create a new game that appeals especially to IONS members. In the meantime, you can help benefit IONS' research and education programs by previewing and purchasing Journey to Wild Divine online.

This site illustrates an investigative technique using a computer video game model to test and train psi (psychic) performance. Conventional repetitive psi exercises quickly produce boredom and thereby inhibit concentration and the learning process. The nature of video games promotes successful results by permitting the simultaneous focus and repetition necessary for effective learning.

Five basic exercises with different "interface flavors" are presented here. The first emphasizes statistical significance; the others are more informal and game-like. Performance in these exercises is 100% psychic. Just as regular physical exercises build up the body, and regular practice of an activity such as playing the piano or drawing builds up your functional skills, these psychic exercises, if practiced diligently, should help build up any psi abilities you may have. Read the following guides to get the most out of this exercise program.

So what your saying is...do we believe that the cursor was moved by a super natural force(which is mind over matter)and that is also referred to when talking about psychokinesis. unsure.gif And you wan't someone to disprove this theory. hmm.gif
