point taken
But really i did think the acting was great...

you might have even noticed it if you could pull your eyes off brads thighs huh
hehhe
orlando bloom sucked big time and only seems to be militarily effective with a bow and arrow, like in the last movie he did before this one (lotr)
and Sean Bean seemed to be carrying the role of boromir on one movie too long as well
peter o toole proved he should have retired and that australian comedian chappy.
i can't even remember his name now
he must have stolen the show
i spent most of my time looking at brad too
though i think he could have killed a few more people in the first five minutes
maybe next time out they'll give him a machine gun
Lady
May 21 2005, 12:12 PM
machine gun def. sounds good. the australian guy is eric banner (not sure if the secod name's spelt right)
i reckon Brad should do a few more war movies though, it's more interesting than watching him ponse around as a con-man that never stops eating in Oceans 11!!!
Mr Ed
May 21 2005, 12:19 PM
I think the film sucked, a bit.
Lady
May 21 2005, 12:22 PM
wasn't the same as Homer's epic, the book is certainly better

but i think that with the way movies have to be made (appealing to as wide an audience as poss) it did pretty gd
Mr Ed
May 21 2005, 12:23 PM
Menelaus died! what a load of rubbish.
Lady
May 21 2005, 12:26 PM
with u on that one

also reckon that they should've tried to bring the Gods into it, after all that's the main point of Homer's poem - the way Aphrodite interacts with Helen etc.
Mr Ed
May 21 2005, 12:28 PM
Yeah, the gods being left out is another major criticism of the film. Athene and her aegis would have been interesting (if she was in the Illiad that is)
Lady
May 21 2005, 12:31 PM
she was

Homer's version neway...
Mr Ed
May 21 2005, 12:37 PM
hmmm I have never read the illiad, I have read The Odyssey, parts of the Metamorphoses and some Greek Tragedies though.
Lady
May 21 2005, 12:39 PM
never read either of those, but the iliad is a gd read

aphrodite features quite a lot, generally helping Hera make trouble for all her little godlings - Aries and Aphrodite are particularly amusing!

Pearl Harbour just goes to show how big a tw*t a hollywood script writer can be. They made it out that the American's actually helped us win the battle of Britain- this of course is complete and utter rubbish. They helped us win the war, not the Battle of Britian. Anyway, if they did help us then, it would have made no difference.

Mr Ed
May 22 2005, 06:34 PM
The American pilots made little difference in the Battle of Britain- it was our war and we won it.
Roswell, be serious for a second- get an international repuation as bad as the french? You must be joking...

u seem bitter about americans eh?
let it out ed....

lol
Mr Ed
May 22 2005, 06:40 PM
lol, I'm not actually bitter about the Americans, I know its annoying when people say this- but I do have an American friend lol.
I just don't like the fact that an American Hollywood producer managed to twist the Battle of Britain into an American victory.
(overuse of the the word American)
Lady
May 22 2005, 06:55 PM
hey, if there's a battle to be won or a world to be saved... u jst know the americans are gonna do it!!!

lol, well it is so easy to get side tracked when talking about the French and Bollywood...
Lady
May 22 2005, 07:03 PM
actually i think the horse of Troy is very important

without it we would not have had Aeneas founding Rome, without Rome no justice system/ public health/ violent sports...
horse of Troy is a BIG thing (literally as well as metaphorically)
Mr Ed
May 22 2005, 07:05 PM
Well the Greeks brought us democracy and probably more than Rome, as they inspired the Romans and gave them ideas and technology etc.
God bless the Greeks.
Eurovision, what a joke, notice that the four of Europe's most powerful and populated countries were the bottom four? lol
Lady
May 22 2005, 07:06 PM

GREECE WON!!!
HORAYY!!
i like the female singers
UK had 18 pts!!
owh well javine is betta than gemini
in more ways than one!!
u see her performance ed
was it good
Mr Ed
May 22 2005, 07:10 PM
It was yesterday, neither am I lol, but terry wogan's sarcasm is pretty funny.
The Greek's won by a mile. Basically all the neighbouring countries voted for eachother. So the UK, France, Germany and Spain had no allies and got about 2-20 points compared to about 180+ lol
The most populated countries only got 1 vote, and countries like moldovo got the same- a tiny bit unfair...
It's so funny because all the eastern european countries take it so seriously, they had massive crowds in town centres etc
We had terry wogan lol.
Mr Ed
May 22 2005, 07:11 PM
lol yeah roswell, the outcome was such a suprise!
His best line was probably when he asked if anyone knew the countries that borded moldovo or somewhere lol.
