When you wake up and you see somthing from your dream in your reality, but then you blink and it goes away. It has somthing to do with sleep paralysis or somthing. Example: I had a dream i finally had an iPod(i dont angry.gif ) and i woke up and looked next to my bed, and on my nightstand, was the iPod i couldnt believe it, i blinked and it was gone. This only happens the SECOND after i wake up the longest i have had somthing stay in reality is a second and a half. I know there is a name for it but i forget it, can someone help me out?

Imagination?

I am tempted to say image retention, however that generally applies to physical images one sees and are delayed in processing by the brain. This is the same effect that occursw when you turn your head quickly towards a clock and, for the briefest moment, see the 'seconds' hand freeze before continuing.

It are the hallucinations (or whatever you want to call them) during the hypnopompic state, the state between waking and sleeping. This state is famous for it produces many (if not all) of the experiences of being visited and/or abducted by 'aliens'. alien.gif

Well, if it's not image retention as aquatus1 mentioned, I'd be tempted to coin a new phrase here and call it image transference..
Your mind tranfers images of your dream to the waking world for you for a brief second. I've heard of similar things but only with bad dreams; never stuff like ipods..
Looks like you got lucky..

This has happend to me once before. I was dreaming about turtles, and I woke up and I saw them crawling on the bed across the room (my room had two beds.)

So, I would walk over to the bed and as I came close enough, they would disappear.

I think I had a high fever at this time, and it caused me to hallucinate.

This has happened to me, on many occasions. But I don't know what the phrase for it is. I've had dreams where I was watching TV, and when I woke up I would have sworn that I had the remote in my hand. Another time it happened, I was dreaming about something (I can't really remember), but when I woke up I thought I was somewhere completely different...for a split second. Dreams like that can be dissapointing, you can wake up 100% sure of the fact that you just got something really cool, only to realise that it was remains of a dream.

I can't say it's ever happened to me with bad dreams, Falco. =\

What about just coming out of a dream...?
warpeDreality
yea i used to have this alot.. id wake up knowing that i had an object on my bedstand or in my hand, then slowly become disappointed as it fades into the subconcious.

its rather surprising when it doesnt disappear though, and objects follow you from the dream into reality. if your mind is closed to belief in the 'impossible', the items will disappear, but if you leave your mind open to the infinite, there's no reason for it to leave ya.

Haha id call it trippy, although im sure its happened to most of us, i think its actually happened to me a few times, but i dont really pay much attention to it, maybe i will now after this thread.. thanks for keeping your head up!!!
