Me and Dis were discussing it.
What we did wrong, was sort of 'skip' the outbreak itself. This isn't supposed to be a silly typical zombie story in which humans survive zombie onslaughts, be wanted to do a different approach and actually tell a sotry of the effects of the outbreak on the people, how they react and how the government itself acts in the time of crisis. But in the end, what we did was just skip over the main outbreak, and have the main characters wake up one morning and find themselves in the midst of a zombie seige.
Every zombie movie has done that. Resident Evil apocalypse had '24 hours later'. Day of the Dead just suddenly had zombies in it. The remake of Dawn had the world waking up to a massive zombie onslaught. 28 Days Later had, well, 28 days later. Even Shaun of the Dead had our protagonist waking up to find the world over run, although it did a relatively better job than most at showing the outbreak slowly happening.
No, that's not what we wanted. And, granted, that was my fault, i wrote in Dylan just waking up to a world over run, although he hasn't really figured out what's happened yet at this part of the story.
So, back to the drawing board with this story, at least until we can come up with a better plan. Thank you though for being interested.
