hey BS what happened to the new part that was 'almost ready' 4 or 5 days ago? someones slacking off me thinks
BurnSide
Slacking?
Writing a story can't be done in a couple days. Hours after hours are needed to perfect every little paragraph before it is posted.

The story is ready, but i'm still not satisfied with it, so i'm still working on it.
OneEye
Wooo, way to go Burnside! Always to please his fans, lol.

Great job guys, coming along great! thumbsup.gif
Thanato
Oh come on Burnside, make it like a Computer game, the first release is buggy as hell and then you edit the first word every 3-6 months grin2.gif

~Thanato
BurnSide
I don't get it.

Pay no attention to that rubbish original.gif Just give it to us when it's done and you're satisfied
BurnSide
Deal.
Almost there. Having a little difficulty perfecting this part, but i can't say why because i don't want to ruin it. laugh.gif
Disinterested
Yeah, neither of us are happy with the way it's going. This part I think will have to be completely re-vamped.

This is where it starts to get hard, so it'll take longer to get each part out. tongue.gif
Ria
Hiya guy's how's it going?
nick_fury
Are you guys still working on this story or have you given it up?I understand these things take time, but almost 2 and a half weeks without a sniff of any news... your fans deserve better tongue.gif
BurnSide
We're not happy with the way it has gone.
Don't want to write crap.
So we're going back to the drawing boards with the story.

BurnSide
Just means we'll make it better. thumbsup.gif
We've also both been very busy as of late, Dis has started a new job, so it's hard to find the time.
~Nemesis~
I dont mind the wait, just as long as the story is good quality thumbsup.gif which im sure it will be! BS, you and Dis are both awesome writers, keep up the good work!
BurnSide
I don't see any new parts coming anytime soon mate.

Do'h...

Oh well, we'll just have to be patient. I'm confident we wont be dissapointed original.gif
Shakezulah
Damn, its been over a month since the last part. Thats way too long. Are you just stopping the story completely now or what?
BurnSide
As we said, we're unhappy with the way this story has gone. Dunno if that means we're gonna scrap it and start again or not. Obviously i'll post if we decide to write more.
Disinterested
We've also been busy. It's summer now, after all. Sitting at home on a computer for fun is less appealing than going outside right now. tongue.gif
Shakezulah
Lol. Speak for yourself. Thats like ALL ive done this summer besides go on vacation. tongue.gif
BurnSide
You need to find yourself a girl mate. laugh.gif
Undefined_innocence
You dont like the way the story was going?? I was loving it. I havent been here in a month and was dissapointed to see no more was written. Presonally, i hope to see more. I was rreally into it. But if it falls into the dud box, then ill be happy to read on anymore that you might start writing. Both of you.
BurnSide
Me and Dis were discussing it.

What we did wrong, was sort of 'skip' the outbreak itself. This isn't supposed to be a silly typical zombie story in which humans survive zombie onslaughts, be wanted to do a different approach and actually tell a sotry of the effects of the outbreak on the people, how they react and how the government itself acts in the time of crisis. But in the end, what we did was just skip over the main outbreak, and have the main characters wake up one morning and find themselves in the midst of a zombie seige.

Every zombie movie has done that. Resident Evil apocalypse had '24 hours later'. Day of the Dead just suddenly had zombies in it. The remake of Dawn had the world waking up to a massive zombie onslaught. 28 Days Later had, well, 28 days later. Even Shaun of the Dead had our protagonist waking up to find the world over run, although it did a relatively better job than most at showing the outbreak slowly happening.

No, that's not what we wanted. And, granted, that was my fault, i wrote in Dylan just waking up to a world over run, although he hasn't really figured out what's happened yet at this part of the story.

So, back to the drawing board with this story, at least until we can come up with a better plan. Thank you though for being interested. original.gif

As the original Dawn of the Dead started out fighting off the zombies right off the bat. Like they had already been there for a month.

As for your story, it was quite excellent, and I frequently looked back to see if there were any updates (after I had found it), but the idea you've made up does seem more reasonable. I have wanted to see something like that, kind of a mystery as to all these strange changing, flu effects, sudden death, and then automatic rising of people in daily life.
BurnSide
Ahh, but the original Dawn of the Dead was a direct sequel to Day of the Dead, and the dead really had been around for a good few days beforehand. original.gif

Thank you for the compliment. I was pretty pleased with it at first too, and if i do decide to re-write it i'll be keeping alot of the same things.
Zombie
wow thats amazing!!! awesome story lol give me the next part Give Meh Give meh GIVE MEH!! lol your doinga great job

Daughter of the Nine Moons
Burnside and Disinterested,

I finally had time to read this entire thread uninterrupted. My hats of to both of you. Excellent story so far! I think however you are correct. You need to the actual outbreak to tie it together and progress, but not in a cheesy was.

As you know I live in Toronto where we had the SARS outbreak a couple of years back. We had the local media downplaying the story and urging calm along with local health officials. Yet hospitals/ nursing homes/ clinics etc were all in emergency/disaster mode. Meaning they were basically shut down to the public. People tried not to congregate in large groups and looked at anyone who appeared ill with suspicion. ( I know I had bronchitis during that time and you should have seen some of the looks I got on the subway ohmy.gif ) Unfortunately Chinatown was completely deserted. Emergency services like police/ fire/ ambulance would show up with masks and gloves. Yet I only ever saw one person with a mask on the subway.

Meanwhile we had the international media (CNN) blowing the story out of proportion. They were showing scenes from Asia and claiming it was downtown Toronto ( pahleeze, Ted Turner! I know what my city looks like!) . WHO gave Toronto some sort of black mark (can't remember what it was called) and then Toronto was basically shut down.

It was confusing because the rational part of me kept saying be reasonable, no need to go to panic stations. Yet the baser more instinctual part of my brain was screaming "DANGER!" In the end we all waited and watched and picked up the pieces after.

Dunno if any of that helps.

You are both very talented and I can't wait to read more grin2.gif
Walken
That sounds scary-fied, Dot.

Glad I wasn't there. no.gif
BurnSide
Thank you for sharing that Dotty. We are of course about 5 hours away and as such we felt a little bit un-attached to Toronto, but at the same time the danger was being felt here to right down to the fact that everyone was wearing the now-dubbed 'SARS masks'. A few friends were unfazed though, they were happy in some aspects because we got really really cheap flights to TO. heh

If i do ever get around to restarting and continuing this story, that is something i will be writing in. original.gif
snuffypuffer
We're waiting... tongue.gif
BurnSide
Don't hold your breath, mate. hmm.gif
snuffypuffer
Sigh. Well, you got a good start going, all the same. thumbsup.gif
BurnSide
I have decided, i'm going to continue this story. Yes, that's right.

HOWEVER. I'm going to be starting from scratch. Re-writing almost in full, keeping the concept, but making it more, well, professional.

It's going to be a very LONG process, so you may not even see updates for a very long time.

Why?
I'm aiming for publishing. thumbsup.gif

Now. I'm looking for a favur from some of the artists of this site. I'm looking for a cover to this story. Something from what has been given so far. If anyone wants to step up to the challenge they can feel free to post their works here, and if i choose it, and the book is published one day, they'll recieve a reward for their hard work. original.gif Cheers guys, and stay tuned.
OneEye
Are there any really good zombie books out there? (Besides Goosebumps and stuff like that, of course)
BurnSide
I don't really know. The Resident Evil novels are excellent, but i can't say i've read a zombie fiction other than those.
OneEye
Hmmmm... maybe yours will be the first of a sensation that will sweep the entire western hemisphere!
BurnSide

Dude, I've been waiting over a year...where's my goddam zombie story tongue.gif
