Im sure that most here have heard of string theory...

String theory says that there are 11 Dimensions, right?

We live in 4 dimensions, that leaves 7 dimensions that we cannot 'see'

--

Now lets look at some of the Quran

7 heavens

It is He Who hath created for you all things that are on earth; Moreover His design comprehended the heavens, for He gave order and perfection to the seven firmaments; and of all things He hath perfect knowledge.

Say: "Who is the Lord of the seven heavens, and the Lord of the Throne (of Glory) Supreme?"

The seven heavens and the earth, and all beings therein, declare His glory: there is not a thing but celebrates His praise; And yet ye understand not how they declare His glory! Verily He is Oft-Forbear, Most Forgiving!

He Who created the seven heavens one above another: No want of proportion wilt thou see in the Creation of ((Allah)) Most Gracious. So turn thy vision again: seest thou any flaw?

See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another

The Bible also talks of seven Heavens and if you listen to Ashley she says there are ten Heavens.

7 heavens, 10 heavens, 1 heaven, no heaven....

behold the power of the anecdotal mind!

Allah also says to kill infadels so I dont have alot of respect there.

7 is a mid eastern number of perfection. it appears quite often throughout the literature in the area. 7 days of creation, these 7 heavens etc. there is probably no connection between this passage of the Quran and string theory.

i think the Bible only speaks of three heavens.

Yes 7 = "completion" or "perfection." Depending on how its used.

In the book of revelation there are "7" seals/vials.

So are you saying strawberries and cherries so they must be the same? blink.gif

My opinion is that the idea of additional dimensions to account for the "heavens" is a good one.
After all, for those whom believe in the "standard" God(whatever that is), it's not like we can jump on a spaceship and visit some distant galaxy and find God.

Thinking about it again now and it can't be.

We live in 4 dimensions. Wouldnt heaven have to be in 4 dimensions too?, I mean I doubt it would be 1 demension!

nevermind, this is stupid. I never thought about it properly ! haha laugh.gif

String theory does not absolutely state there is 11 dimensions some string theorists claim there are 12.

ForRizzle,in those times when Qur`an first revealed there were violent wars between unbelivers and believers so that particular verses aplies to that special environment.Religious wars are not acceptable by anyone in our times, you know that, right?

there is nothing more powerful to the belief in the evil of a religion than the belief in the good of another religion.

Ummmm.... would you mind explaining that to the hard-core radicals? They seem to have a different view-point.

I would sincerely doubt that anyone disagree's with your statement, as the Koran is certainly abundant in extremely violent admonishments towards "infidels".

However, as noted by Imam, this is directed within a historical period of time of considerable tension and unrest, and bastardized to the current time. Those "radicals" are no more welcome in mainstream Islam as are radical Christians, Jews, etc... welcome in their own religions.

And I have heard even more, such as 23-26.
May I posit that it is not the number of extended dimensions that is of our importance, rather that a dimension above the 4th be established as factual.
