Full Version: A quick thought of the "afterlife"...

Life is about having fun and doing what you an while still having the privilege of living and breathing....

Why waste your time thinking about after you die? You're alive right now.... that's all that really matters.

It doesn't matter if you burn in hell or go to heaven. It just matters of what you want to accomplish when you're actually alive or what you wanted to do in life.

Most people even have a religion because they're afraid to go to hell and afraid to forfill their lives just because a book says so.

So all I'm asking you to do is to live your life for what you want it to be. If you really love God and want to be with him..... go ahead... but if you only believe because you don't want to burn in hell, don't waste your time....

The gift of life is greater than the gift of the afterlife....

BurnSide
That applies of course if you even believe in the afterlife. Alot of people, myself included, do not. So technically, we never worry about the afterlife, and always live life to the fullest.

I'm talking about the so called "religious" people.....

I pity them... grin2.gif ...I believe they're truly being taken-for-a-ride (at the expense of their lives!) tongue.gif ...how gullible yes.gif
brittish_gurl
Yes..... I don't understand religious people at all. Are their lives so horrible that they have to believe in a book to feel better about themselves?
BurnSide
They are entitled to their beliefs as much as anyone else. thumbsup.gif
brittish_gurl
Yeah, i know. I just find it creepy........ ph34r.gif .
Vox
Wow, Burnside. I for one cannot understand the concept of not believing in an afterlife (be it christian or otherwise). What's your take on death then? (I'm not criticising just genuinely interested)! Cheers Bud!
BurnSide
You rott. In the ground. If you're burried anyway.

There is no conciousness before life, and there is none after either. You are after death what you were before life. Non existant. Your brain has stopped functioning and you cease to be more than a really good meal for the worms.

lol, exactly, lol tongue.gif grin2.gif

If I had a euro for everytime I have heard this. People aren't religious just because they are scared of hell. Common misconception.
BurnSide
'he' would be a pretty poor creator of the universe if he had to keep his creations in check with fear of eternal pain and damnation after life, in my opinion.
All human concepts.

I think that when you die, your soul goes into another not yet born person, and then u become that person remembering nothing of your past life. im not religous and i think thats true. isnt that budists that think of tjat or somethin.......
Amalgamut
The bible just tells it how it is. It doesn't hide anything.
ai_guardian
That's how you see it.

To me, the bible tells it(?) how someone (human) wanted it to be or thought it should be. Of course it hides nothing - but a lot of people hide behind IT. grin2.gif

I was referring to the talks of hell.

Not sure what is meant by "hiding behind IT."
ai_guardian
sry, that's why the ? mark.

Yep, the talks of hell, great fictitious discussion, but then so is everything else we are not 100% sure of.

The hiding behind 'it' refers to the bible babble in general. Many of man's attrocities have been hiding behind the bible so you must forgive me if I don't give the bible and it's babble an ounce of credibility.

geek.gif Hey I love your avatar Amalqamut. No wonder you are a deity.

ph34r.gif I am not religious, but I admire Gothic cathedrals, Bach Cantatas, and stained glass windows. Even though not religious, I used to attend the First Church at Oberlin when I was an undergraduate just because of the wonderful music, which could put me in a very exalted and holy mood. The preacher did not give sermons; he gave philosophical essays in spoken words, dialogues really. I have a feeling the religious are being unfairly trampled in this thread. It was religion which pulled the West out of the Dark Ages. Of course, there is just as much on the negative side. Crusades. Inquisitions. The Index of Prohibited
Books.

ph34r.gif What we have today is actually similar. We have the Index of Prohibited Sciences, such as Psychical Research, which has plenty of good scientific evidence of life after death.

w00t.gif We don't need religion, but we need something. Our age of Heroic Materialism produces nothing uplifting. While we enjoy our toys, some of those toys (cars for example) are destroying the ecology of the world. Cars and coal burning power plants.
