Recently, on ITV 1 there was a documentary about a lost civilisation in the thick jungle forests of Cambodia, which showed the City of Angkor Wat.
This went into some detail, explaining the culture that the inhabitants may have had, and also looked into theories to explain why the culture died out.
It appeared that the downfall of the city was due to the lack of protection from the natural forest, whch they had exhausted to build the city.
It was said that flooding, famine, lack of resources and warfare would have wiped out the race, and over the years, the forest has re-covered Angkor.
They used satellite technology to scan the area and found the city stretched far further than previously thought. This place was huge, bigger than modern day New York.
This has probably been discussed before, but this interests me very much.
