Biological Tides: The theory that the phases of the moon can affect our daily lives through the tides, influencing behaviour through the variations in the electromagnetic fields of our bodies. This may cause some slight fluid retention at certain times of the month. Studies have been done suggesting that during the full moon and new moon, unbalanced individuals may prove to be more susceptible to the biological tides, and they may be more prone to violent crimes. Also, the theory of biological tides may possibly tie in with the fact that humans become more aroused around the time of full moons, thus making this phase synonymous with romance and intrigue.
QUOTE
A 1976 report compared 34,318 crimes against the lunar cycles. It found offences occurred more frequently during a full moon....

...Some notable murder cases have been tied to the lunar phases. Of the eight murders committed by New York's infamous "Son of Sam", David Berkowitz, five were during a full moon.

QUOTE
The researchers collected data on homicide in Dade County (Miami) over a period of 15 years — 1,887 murders, to be exact. When they matched the incidence of homicide with the phases of the moon, they found, much to their surprise, that the two rose and fell together, almost infallibly, for the entire 15 years! As the full or the new moon approached, the murder rate rose sharply; it distinctly declined during the first and last quarters of the moon.

I've also read a book entitled The Lunar Effect, which outlined the theory of biological tides.

I believe that biological tides aren't lunacy, and that we should pay more attention to them.

indeed there is evidence to support it. for example, women who live "in nature", in other words not in our mechanized cities, begin menstration with the full moon (every 28 deays).

Does this mean that some people turn into werewolves when there is a full moon?
hyperactive
no, but some are taken to idiocy.... thus the turm LUNAR cycles (LUNACY)...

We all know that the full moon affects human behavior because the human body contains more than 80% of water
and the full moon affect the water in the seas
so may be ,, that's why the full moon affects the human behavior

Well ,, in Islam, prophet Mohamed said:

that,, it will be good if people fast and didnt eat and drink in the days of full moon.

N.E.: fasting in Islam doesnt mean to never eat and drink during all these days,, noo ,,,,,it's only untill the sun set.

So, may be,,, that's why prophet Mohamed ordered muslims to fast in these 2 or 3 days of the full moon.... may be ,, to avoid the negative change of the behaviour

gravity affects everything, not just water. It may be entirely coincidental that a woman's menstrual cycle is about a month, hence using the shape of the moon to determine their next menstruation is a good move if you have no acess to a calendar. Its a myth that a woman only bleeds during full moon.

myth now in the technological society where other factors have influence.

I don't believe that it is even a myth! Since antiquity there has never been a recorded instance by a historian where a womens menstrual cycle is so predictable. It will make the birth control so much easier grin2.gif.

yo, you probably shouldn't just make up things about islam on the spot and call it a "maybe" because it "maybe" has nothing to do with it and your statment was total idocy original.gif fasting is to teach patience and discipline, and so on and so forth, to practice that regularly is the best thing for anybody, remember I think it's thursdays that it's also good to fast, they used the lunar calendar at the time, and anybody can see when theirs a full moon. Btw, the only thing a full moon can do to us about the tides or whatever is just make us a bit lighter... yeah, and even slightly slow. Although personally, I believe that the moon probably does have an effect on people, like sanity and stuff, you shoudn't make random connections like that. Moon Food and Sanity don't go together, unless you take PSP on full moons with food, their is no connection original.gif
