ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Michelle Gibson, 36, has been charged with voluntary manslaughter, second-degree murder and two counts of child abuse in the death of her 8-year-old son, Devon. Gibson allegedly left the child in the trunk of her car while at work.
According to Police Capt. Steve Lillard, Gibson left her son in the trunk of her car on Sunday while she worked at the Mountain Trace Nursing Home in Sylva, N.C. She reportedly told a co-worker of the incident when she got off work.
She then drove home to her Asheville apartment and was arrested by authorities. Although the official cause of the boy's death has not been determined, it is presumed that heat played a role in his death. Gibson remains jailed on $100,000 bond.

This isn't even child abuse- its even sicker. The kid didn't just die, he must have suffereed for a long time- he would have had to run out of air or die of thirst. Sick
She should be hung, nevermind locked up

Most kids at 8 are normally at school, unless this was the weekend

He might have been the kind of kid that doesnt do what he is told when in the car ,so the mother put him in the trunk and forgot about him as she got a little peace and quiet when driving

easy mistake to make blink.gif

That's just sick man... i will assume that the kid was locked by his mother because, I don't see a kid just for fun getting himself locked in the trunk... I agree that woman should be hanged and fed to the dogs...
People just don't stop amazing me...

OMG!!
What kind of mother drives around with her kid in the trunk anyway??!! And then still go to work and just leave him there. I really feel for that poor child. Must've really suffered.

I was instantly supposing that the mom locked him in the trunk. No weekend child care - can't leave him IN the car -- people would see. So she stuck him in the trunk.

Another scary thing... someone with this little reguard for human life worked at a nursing home?

Someone has problems...

People just don't randomly lock kids in trucks. poor kid

I personally think the mom should be locked in the trunk of a car to see how it feels...I just cannot believe how STUPID people can be!! mad.gif

I was wondering the same thing. I'd hate to have that woman giving care to a relative of mine.
This is sad. I have an 8 year old son and have never even thought of doing something so vile. I hope they give her a maximum sentence over her stupidity and ignorance! angry.gif

Duct tape is fine as long as you take it off gently. w00t.gif
