James Van Praagh claims to be a medium, and claims to be a lot of things he is not, and has knowledge he does not -- much like the majority of people in this area.

Taking his power from a skeptical point of view, James is not in any way different from you or me, other than he is very good at reading people [I think I am good at reading people, too.] When you ask him to "contact" your father, he is going to read you, and use information he already knows about your father, as well as answer generalized questions based on extremely easy topics, such as "Is my father at peace." Of course, he is a professional at doing this otherwise he wouldn't be making money. James Van Praagh isn't going to relay messages between you and your father -- hes only going to tell you what you want to hear, need to hear, and hes going to be a liar about it. If he gets an answer wrong you're going to believe it a simple mistake, because of how much you want to believe him.

I may be wrong in all of this, and he may very well be "gifted" and able to talk to the dead, but it's unlikely, one of the main reasons being [As far as I know] he doesn't offer all the help he can possibly give somebody free of charge.

I think you should rejoice in memories of your father and think of the good times, not the bad times. There are always bad times, but good times tend to stay in your memory much longer unless they are rivaled by horrors. You can't change the past, so be happy that your father is OK now and not stricken with cancer.

My Father passed away when i had moved to another state, and i never got to say good bye[we were very close], so i understand how you feel about not getting to find closer but please do not be fooled by a fake,if you open your mind and heart you may find your father will come to you in your dreams if so tell him how you feel and then let go, no one can change the past but if you do not find peace it will destroy you, its not your fault and you have to understand no matter what you do when GOD wants us to come home he is the only one in control, my father came to me in my dreams i said my good-byes and thanked GOD for the time he let my father come to me good luck p.s. maybe you need help you should talk to someone it sounds like you had a hard time growing up

I would need an exact spelling. And if he is psychic it's probably not his real name which will make my search irrelevant..

ABOUT HIS ABILITIES

His very natural, easy-going style would lead you to believe that James Van Praagh is chatting with a friend on the telephone, not communicating messages from the grave. James is a survival evidence medium, meaning that he is able to bridge the gap between two planes of existence, that of the living and that of the dead, by providing evidential proof of life after death via detailed messages. "I'm clairsentient," he explains, "which simply means clear feeling. I feel the emotions and personalities of the deceased. I am also clairvoyant," he adds, clarifying that, "the first is feeling, the second is seeing, very much like Whoopi Goldberg in the movie, Ghost."

The true essence of the messages are the feelings behind the words. James is an expert on this subject, since he has been in touch with those feelings most of his adult life. "The spirits communicate by their emotions. No words exist in the English language, or any other for that matter, which can describe the intense sensations."

Personality traits come in as well. If a person was talkative while alive, he will come through with plenty to say. James also relays physical traits and death conditions as evidence. "If I convey recognizable evidence along with even a fraction of the loving energy behind the message, I consider the reading successful."

James' public popularity began during his appearances on the NBC talk show "The Other Side." The show concentrated on paranormal issues, and James became the favorite guest and resident expert on the subject of life after death. Even Howard Rosenberg, the Los Angeles Times distinguished television critic, dubbed James "spectacular".

Through the years his message of hope has touched a great many more people due to his television appearances on such shows as "Oprah", "Larry King Live", "Maury Povich", "20/20", and "48 Hours". In April 2002, CBS produced their highest rated mini-series in 2 years with "Living With The Dead". This television special was based on James' life and his first book Talking To Heaven.

With the success of the first miniseries, CBS is now in production of a second made-for-TV movie based on an actual incident in James' life. The new movie is titled "The Dead Will Tell" and will star actress Anne Hesche. It is slated to air during the 2004-2005 CBS season.

James launched his own syndicated daytime talk show, Beyond With James Van Praagh, in Septemeber 2002. The show halted production in January 2003. It is currently re-airing in Australia.

ABOUT JAMES VAN PRAAGH

James was born in Bayside, New York, and is the youngest of four children. An average child, he remembers having a tremendous fascination with death. He was raised Catholic and served as an altar boy, entering the seminary at the age of fourteen. It was there that his interest in Catholicism ended and his sense of spirituality began.

There are no schools or training that could prepare James for his unusual vocation. Indeed, his ability to communicate with the dead arose out of his...well...life. This belief was affirmed by an astonishing encounter that he had when he was only 8-years-old. The young boy was praying for God to reveal Himself to him, when an open hand appeared through the ceiling of James' room emitting radiant beams of light. Incredibly, he recounts, "I wasn't scared. It was actually very peaceful."

Graduating from public high school, he continued to pursue his studies and later graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Broadcasting and Communications. You could say that he ended up working in Communications, just in a different capacity. After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles where he became involved in metaphysics and psychic phenomena. At 24, the promise of that outstretched palm so many years before was fulfilled.

REALIZING THE GIFT

During his early days in Los Angeles, James was invited to attend a session with a medium, although he didn't even know at that time what a medium was. Given that, he was understandably dubious when the medium informed James that he would be doing the same work within two years. "My first reaction was, I have enough trouble dealing with the living; why do I want to talk to the dead?"

As James' sensitivity increased, he began doing psychic readings for friends. During these readings, he began receiving detailed messages from the beyond. Though at first this seemed bizarre, the more he learned, the more he could not deny the fact that he had the gift to reach beyond the familiar plane of existence we call life. Today, James is recognized as one of the foremost mediums in the world.

Naturally, there remain skeptics about his abilities. James, however, is the first to say that he welcomes healthy skepticism, declaring, in fact, that he is a skeptic himself. "I believe that I am doing this, but I don't believe that just anyone can do this. All mediums are psychics, but not all psychics are mediums."

A psychic senses energy around the living people or objects. A medium not only senses energy, but is able to interface between the slower vibrations of the physical world and the much faster ones of the spirit world.

Though James is quick to point out that his gift does not provide insights into the future, he is able to provide detailed evidential proof that a loved one survived death. Surviving death may seem to be the supreme oxymoron, but he has a firm belief that we are all spirit beings, and that there is far more to our life than our life span.

Ultimately, James feels extremely fortunate to be a conduit of comfort, healing, and most importantly, love. "As a medium, I have never experienced anything but love and compassion and healing in my work," he avows. "It is the love bond between people which allows me to make the connection between the living and the dead."

SHARING THE UNDERSTANDING

James' unique paranormal experiences during the past eighteen years have been recorded in his best-selling books Talking To Heaven, Reaching To Heaven, and Healing Grief - Reclaiming Life After Any Loss, all published by Dutton Books. His fourth book, published by Simon and Schuster, is the proclaimed Heaven and Earth - Making the Psychic Connection.

In September 2003, James introduced his understanding to teens with his much-anticipated book Looking Beyond: A Teen's Guide to the Spiritual World. In November 2003 his book Meditations with James Van Praagh was published bringing new awareness to the meditation experience. Both books also by Simon and Schuster.

James shared his extraordinary gift on television with a daytime talk show of his own, Beyond With James Van Praagh. His show tapped into the emotions that traditional daytime viewers craved in a way that was completely non-traditional. Beyond aired in the U.S. from September 2002 to September 2003 and is still showing in syndication in Australia.

In April 2002, CBS produced a successful television mini-series Living With The Dead, inspired by James' life and his first book Talking To Heaven. This CBS special starred actor Ted Danson and was the highest-rated show for CBS in two years.

In the "Entertainment Tonight" interview on May 23, 2001, James shared his thoughts about the mini-series, "I think that people are ready for it, and I think there's a major audience out there... My belief is that CBS will see how powerful this is...and I think that [the mini-series] will really open the door to many more productions about spirituality."

With the success of the first miniseries, CBS is currently in production of a second made-for-TV movie based on an actual incident in James' life. The new movie is titled "The Dead Will Tell" and will star actress Anne Hesche. It is slated to air during the 2004-2005 CBS season.

To assist others in spiritual awareness and fulfillment, James has produced 4 new meditation programs featuring music by the
world's leading composer of sound healing Steven Halpern. The titles include Divine Love, Spirit Speaks, Soul Discoveries and Meditation Tools. Each program includes 2 CDs and 2 cassettes and a workbook with meditations and conversations with James.

His single CD meditations are also great teaching tools and include Tuning Into: Intuition / Abundance and Tuning Into: Healing / Forgiveness. In his instructional video Devleop Your Psychic-Self, James shares his personal techniques to develop your own innate abilities.

"The books, CDs, video and television show are ways to share my gift and the message that our personalities do indeed survive death. My greatest satisfaction in doing this work is witnessing an instantaneous change in people," shares James about his work.

"When someone is alone and overwhelmed by grief, life seems over. But, when someone is able to make contact with a loved one by utilizing the information in my books, grief and loneliness disappear and proper closure can take place."

And so..."When a bright smile overcomes tears, it becomes a smile that can light up the world!"

oh god, you plauged this thread with bs, thanks alot... that dudes not a psychic because I don't like his face. yup yup, you may find a reaql psychic on this forum although I doubt you will, and yeah.
If I were you I would try contacting a wiccan or a witch, and see if they could sdo anything, or someone who astral projects regularly with a spirit guide, ask them if they can ask their spirit guide about it. Another way that is probably dangerous is asking a jinn or "evil spirit thinggey" I'm not even ure how you would do that but I'm sure it's possible, but don't pay money for it, unless you reimbursing them for something they paid for to do it, people who actchually do that shiz won't charge you.
