This is my first post, I mostly read the paranormal posts, but have never experienced much paranormal activity so I don't normally have things to reply with. If this is in the wrong section, I apologize. I have been to many sites similar to this, but I really enjoy the people this site has.

Now to the main point. I am 19 years old. I am going to college to eventually become a filmmaker. I want to produce, direct, and write films. I live in Indiana which puts quite a distance from me and Hollywood or New York City. You can attempt to talk to "professionals" about film ideas, but they want about $20 an hour. Then I thought of the interesting posts I have read here.

Basically I'm just testing the water and wondering if a few people would be interested in this. Of course, I think my ideas are good, but they don't mean much until you have a captive audience that wants to listen. I am a paranoid person, so it has crossed my mind that these ideas could possibly get stolen, but honestly that would make me somewhat happy. Atleast I would know I am thinking on a level that is accepted by the dreaded "Hollywood." As you can see I have a tendency to ramble on. Basically if you would be interested in hearing about some of my movie ideas, just reply with a positive message. Thanks!

Hey Blank,

I'd be interested in hearing some of your ideas, heck... they might be so good that you'll have people demanding more!...

Thanks for replying I was getting worried. I hope more reply. I will put up my first idea Monday. Some are very complex, others are simple quick thoughts.

yeah i'd listen to some, i don't really have time to read scripts and stuff but you can bounce some themes and plots off me anytime you like

Ok, Originally I was going to wait til Monday to post my an idea for a film, but the two replies have motivated me to throw one out there now. Keep in mind, I have simplified these ideas to create a more readable post. This is going to sound somewhat like a typical action flick, but I don't want to bring out the complex, dramatic film ideas yet.

This is an action film I have thought of, and will occasionally add new ideas to. It is far from a finished product.

There is a group "vigilante" soldiers or "mercenaries." This is a highly organized group whose main motivation is money. This consist of approximately eight members (give or take.) Governments have used this group to assassinate, but usually capture high level criminals. A perfect example of a typical person they would be hired for is Osama Bin Laden. Because they are not officially affiliated with the country's government, they are able to break rules and laws that would normally prevent a soldier or investigator from pursuing a suspect. Several nations have used this group, but America has been reluctant because government officials believe it would create insecurity among the citizens. Until they lose a group as highly trained as the Delta Force or Navy Seals while pursuing a suspect.

A Brief Description of the Group:
The Organizer - This is the behind the scenes guy. He sets up all the operations, but is never seen, nor does he participate in the actual execution of a plan. He contacts the team members and sets up meeting places.

Main Character - An ex-soldier (possibly ex-delta force, seems kind of corny) He left the military, and was contacted by the organizer to create this group. He is wealthy after the many years of working with this group, but doesn't spend his money like a rich person. He is mellow, and extremely sarcastic. He is highly trained with automatic weapons, pistols, explosives.

Love Interest of Main Character - The one female in the group, but one of the most essential parts. She is able to use her looks and charm to get places men wouldn't be able to get to wink2.gif. She is also well-trained in martial arts, and weapons.

Modern Ninja - Before you choke thinking about this idea please read. Forgive the stereotypical Asian character, but I do picture this as a small asian man, similar to Jet Li. Now he doesn't run around with a sword, but he is a ninja in the sense he is a silent killer. He snaps necks, only uses two silence pistols, knives and can perform various acrobatic stunts. He doesn't speak much, and is often frustrated when trying to speak in english.

Southern Hunter - This is a typical Cowboy type fella. Has a southern accent and enjoys hunting. He is somewhat trashy, and stupid, but an excellent shot with the shotgun. He acts like and old Cowboy, but instead of having to magnums on his hips, he's got Desert Eagles, and a pistol grip pump shotgun on his back.

Russian Explosives Guy - This guy is huge! I think of this guy being like Drago in Rocky. He used to be a miner, and used dynamite. He has a drinking problem, but doesn't let it interfere during an operation.

British Assassin - A clean cut, well spoken, charming British man that is usually seen with a briefcase. He is a well-known assassin, and art thief. He is a genius when it comes to negotiating, but is easily irritated and often flys off the handle.

LAPD officer - A cop from LA, He was a typical street cop, no special chief, but was kicked off the force because he didn't follow protocol, and made his own rules. Basically the rebellious cop.

Jamaican Hacker - This is a behind the scenes guy, but still goes on missions. He is in charge of breaking codes unlocking doors. Usually anything he can't accomplish is taken over by the Explosive Russian.

Now understand this is the simple version, I could go scene by scene, but that will take to long. Now that you have a background of the characters it may be easier to visualize in your own mind and develope your own ideas.

America looks to hire this group to capture a well-known terrorist DOA. The movie would begin as a few government agents showing up at the main characters door. He immediately assumes they are there to arrest him so escapes through a planned escape route. They eventually catch up to him and explain the situation. All of the members have nicknames, to prevent any type of possible identification issues if one is captured. As they are interrogating the main character he discusses each member. At each point of discussion the scene would switch to the agents attempting to contact the members. Keep in mind they live all over the world. Each scene would be unique to that person's character.

For example: The Explosive Russians scene, he is in a Russian bar thoroughly intoxicated. His back is to the agents when they show up. From the beginning he is very irrational and irritable. He ends up knocking out two of the agents and is eventually subdued by a tranquilizer.

The organizer becomes irritated when he finds that they have been brought together by someone other than him. He is also upset they now know personal information of each other, and not to mention the American government involved. The organizer is corgile but states he wants nothing to do with this operation.

The movie then consists of the government training, the many weapons they receive, and finally the pursuit of the suspected terrorist.

SIMPLE CONCLUSION

They eventually locate the terrorist and attempt to make the capture.
Here is where I am at a stand still. I have to choices for the climatic ending.

Ending one - The American government has set this all up out of fear that there is possibly a threatening highly skilled group. The terrorist doesn't exist nor does all the BS they have been telling them. They plan to kill the group there and forget they ever existed.

Ending two - American government is scared and has actually set up this attack on the organizer of the group. Who happens to actually be a terrorist, but that info was never known. When the go for the capture they realize who it is by his voice, but they don't know what to do. If the capture and kill him they sacrifice this whole operation and kill a terrorist, but if they don't then the American government would be angry and probably kill them.

Crappy Hollywood Ending - It is just a terrorist no schemes or plots they get the money for the job and live the good life.

Tell me what you think, I can elaborate through the middle if needed, but I appreciate any type of criticism. If you think the characters are too plain, tell me. If it sounds like a typical action movie.

ALL IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS ARE APPRECIATED

Interesting idea, to be honest it's getting rather late over here in the uk so i dont wanna go into a deep analysis or anythign, suffice to say for now that i am slightly worried about the sterotypical lineup of your group, southern rednecks, ninjas, brits it just seems like your average lineup in such a film as this and youd do well to switch things around a bit and freshen up the mix
For an ending i think definantly number 1, I would also kill all of the team off, i have a great image of your main character fending off dozens of marines with an assault rifle and taking hit after hit refusing to go down thats all i can think of right now, i'll sleep on it and maybe get back to you tomorrow when im a bit fresher, hope this helps original.gif

I agree with you about the stereotypical characters, that had crossed my mind. I really appreciate your suggestions. I like your addition to the ending. I am a big fan of the "tragic hero" characters aswell.

I always like the fact in a movie that the Romantic level is upped because the Romantic intrest is in danger.

Also I love the idea of the ultimate evil and the regular guy fighting him and winning with insurmountabvle odds.

I like the idea of a team of SEALS going missing and these guys stepping up to fill there shoes.... will any of your characters be super-natural? it seems that in order to have them do what they do so well they would need an edge.....

I don't really like the idea of a voice giving them missions... it's too.... Charlies Angels like...

and I keep seeing Final Fantasy 8 characters when I read about the descriptions of your characters..... I think I play too many games blush.gif

Before I read the description of the "group", I thought of the same kind of group you described--more or less. I'm not sure if that makes your group a little too stereotypical or cliché. You can also switch some of the characters gender, that way both female and male audiences are more drawn in. Sort of a psychological empowerment thing... laugh.gif

-----------
Here's a possible twist that could be used, if you haven't already thought of it:
The conflicts throughout the movie are actually staged by the "organizer" who is actually a highly powerful and skilled terrorist, training them to eventually assassinate world leaders, or possibly another powerful terrorist who will soon rise above the "organizer" and dominate him, if he does not kill him first.

The Organizer could stage these tests as if they were being recruited by the government but in fact are being manipulated. The last "test" would be to kill this would-be powerful terrorist.

Pretty much terrorist vs. terrorist with the group being caught in the middle of this war.
-------

I've thought of being a scriptwriter myself... Had a bunch of ideas that sort of drifted off. I hope this one helps your film or future films.

All the responses have been awesome. The voice is quite goofy, but I figured it could set up one of those "Ohhh, No Way!!" twists to the ending. Scorpius I really appreciate the detailed response. Your idea is brilliant. I love the idea of this major terrorist mastermind that has manifested a false operation for this "super group." Gender switching could definetely be arranged. I really hope you all comment on my next ideas, its helping my creativity.

I play games like Counterstrike Source, and one thing that intrigues me about the game this is a new type of realism. I hate to sound sick or twisted, but a teammate gets shot in the head, and it is suprisingly realistic nhow the body goes limp and what not. I was wondering, similar to what Nick said, having a main character killed off and possibly all of them.

One idea is when they are storming a building, an enemy bullet strikes a fairly important character. And he instantly goes down dead. None of that sparks everywhere and the hero runs out unhurt. That stuff really bothers me.

I don't know if that would help the movie, or just seem like rediculous violence. Tell me what you guys think. And anymore scenes anyone can think of I hope they will share. Thanks!

Yea, I'd say in general the best movies are the unpredictable ones... or ones the audiences's thinks they've figured out but are shown this dramatic twist that doesn't even come close to what they thought would happen.
