I saw information on a game featuring 50 cent on the front of a recent ps2 magazine but couldn't buy it because I was skint and was wondering if anyyone knew anything about it. I assume it'd be in the style of GTA unless anyone knows otherwise
Mr Ed
That doesn't sound like a great game concept, in my opinion of course.
50 cent as the main guy I take it?
nick_fury
Did some research and found stuff of my own:
In 50 Cent’s video game, 50 gets caught in a web of corruption, double-crosses and shady deals that lead him on a bloody path through New York's drug underworld. Working with the unlikeliest of allies, the streets heat up as 50 Cent takes on the most dangerous crime families in the city, uncovering an international conspiracy with devastating implications. The streets are watching as 50 Cent blasts his way to the truth.

What does everyone reckon? I think it could go either way, but as long as they don't make it too stupid (50 vs the president in a bare knuckle fight or something) and keep a GTA like design should be ok

Straight off the hot magazines of EGM(last months, no less), It's a new game called 50 Cent, Bulletproof. IT's about what would happen if 50 never gave up dope and started rapping. It has music exclusive for the game. And it has a place where you'll meet Dre and shady for upgrades and stuff.

I just read a review and an interview with 50 cent on ths game and it doesn`t look too bad, although its just going to be a lot like GTA so not really anuthing new, but it would be worth a rent for many.
TaintedDoughnuts
great... another way that main stream(read: teeny bopper) rap is invading all aspects of culture(no offense to those who like rap though!) seriously it might have potential as long as there's no stuff that's completely dumb, like mentioned before: killing the gangsta president and stuff happy.gif

...Wow, that has to be the dumbest idea for a video game. Ever. For many reasons.
1. 50 cent is not the kind of person who would go out of their way to save anyone but themselves. Much less, stop a drug ring that he - probably - was involved with in the first place.
2. His music sucks. Enough said.
3. We already have had enough GTA-esque games. When all we actually needed was GTA itself.
4. "Heroes" don't go running around in clothes they could trip and fall in.
5. Modern day celebs aren't the sharpest knives in the kitchen. I bet if he even found out the so called "truth", he wouldn't even understand it.

If they went out and made a game for every celeb that's made a name of themselves, I doubt there would be anymore gamers. Imagine a world where every game that comes out is about some random celebrity.
"Christina Aguilera: Striptease"
"Drew Barrymore: Extreme Treehugging"
"Michael Jackson's Neverland"

...I could go on, but I think I shouldn't. Point is, if publicists had their way, every game made would be about a random celebrity.
nick_fury
Agreed janiel but video games are a big part of the rap culture. I f you ever watch cribsd on MTV every rapper whose house they visit owns a PS2, and they often mention games and consoles in their lyrics, anyway there's already plenty of celeb endorsed games out, Britney's dance beat anyone? that Jet Li game?
How could one more hurt, and besides it is a loooooooooong wait untill the next GTA

By the way i would totally buy Christina Aguilera: striptease, you should pitch that idea to the perverts at konami, they'd do it
Janiel
It's not a long wait for the next GTA. Due to the fact that SA just came out for Xbox and PC. That's another six months+ I can wait for another GTA installment.

He might save somebody if it involves him getting money or more money.

His music sucks. Enough said.

Some of his songs have catchy beats, ok im finished with that.

Everybody's played GTA or one of it's incarnations. Maybe one game can actually make a good game by copying rockstar.Rare did it, with banjo kazooie. tongue.gif

A game...

...about a bad rapper...

....who is trying to stop a drug ring...

...despite the fact he pretends he owns one?

I wish you could've kept this to yourself, but...

The GTA games include the main character to save, and kill people. So, in this game, 50 Cent is more or less likely to kill someone than save someone. Or to stop drug smugglers, a.k.a. 'Those who live in poverty and smuggle just to survive'.

2. His music sucks. Enough said.
Surely, 1,100,000 people who bought his CD (in the first week)are wrong under your opinion?

Whaaa...and I get tired of lame shooter/action games...

So, you judge a hero by the cloths they wear? Let alone, we don't even know if 50 Cent is going to portray a hero.

Yeah, and their major successes in life were all dumb luck...

I agree. Look, I really didn't mean to bag on you, okay? I think 50 Cent is a fake, wanksta look-a-like thug who has let the money go to his head. I don't like him, but I also don't like people bagging period.

I think this game will show absolutely nooo truth, what-so-ever. I think it will show the bad side of the streets, divert the reputation of 'Poor and Poverty' to 'Violent and Gansta'.....its just not the way to go, I'm probably going to like this game 'fun' wise, but I won't buy/play it because it shows the wrong message.

To be honest, I think most of you that are putting down this game are only doing so because of 50 cent's involvement and i reckon if the character was just an unnamed black guy, some of you would be raving about it
As for Hailo's comment, I agree with you, this game wil glorify gang violence and once again popularise the hood as being cool rather than a dangerous slum, but surely gta:sa did this already, and i'd bet my bottom dollar you own a copy of that original.gif

I agree with Nick and Hailo. The bottom line is if 50 cent's name wasn't on it. The anti-rap people wouldn't be so quick to discredit the game. But on that same token the pro-rap people may buy the game just because it has 50 cent's name. To him it is all $$$$. And he may have negotiated with a great company to create this game and slap his goofy self and even goofier voice on the main character.

Similar with life, Keep an open mind about everything. I'm sure people first looked at Mario, and said "How the heck is this little Italian plumber going to save a princess and kill King Koopa." Well my fellow gamers I believe... Mario DID save the princess, just as 50 cent may errrr disgust.gif Do what ever is going to do.

All I am saying is, Give it a chance.
