The official UM Awards 2005 give you the chance to nominate and vote for your favourite posts, topics and members on the Unexplained Mysteries community forums. Due to the popularity of the awards last year, this year there are more award categories and the awards event itself will last for twice as long.
There will also be a new type of award category, which is not open for public vote. This category will award those who have broken forum records, made outstanding contributions or who in our view, are most worthy of a special mention.
Winners of this years awards will also have a custom title added to their profiles to show they've won.
This year's award categories are as follows:
Best Member (Female)
Best Member (Male)
Best Member Avatar
Best Member Blog
Best Member Quote
Best Member Signature
Best Topical Thread
Funniest Member
Most Bizarre Member
Most Original Username
Most Annoying Member Avatar
and last but not least, the coveted "Member Most Likely to be an Alien" award.
How it all works
Like last year, a thread will be posted for each of the 12 categories of award. Members will be able to nominate in each of the 12 categories over the period of two weeks. After the two weeks, the nomination threads will be closed, and the final voting will begin. 12 threads representing the final selections in each category will be posted, and members will be able to vote for the winners. After a further two weeks, the winners will be announced.
Q. Can i cheat by registering multiple usernames to vote or nominate ?
A. No. We will be looking out for anyone doing this, and will take action as necessary against those who do.
Q. Can i nominate/vote for myself ?
A. Yes you can.
Q. Can i PM/email people and get them to nominate/vote for me ?
A. No, we do not allow voting/nominating incentives or the eliceting of votes or nominations via spam, mass messaging or any other means.
Q. When do the nominations stop and voting begin ?
A. The nominations will finish on the 25th June, at which point the nomination threads will be closed, and the final voting polls will be opened. The final polls will be closed and the winners accounced on the 10th July.
Q. Why do some categories have less than 10 finalists to vote for ?
A. In the event of several nominees sharing the same number of nominations for the last few places in a category, only those nominees with more than that number of nominations will make it through to the final vote.
