Here's what happened at Bleury-Bouthillier's manor located in Rosemère, Québec, Canada. Long post but please, read, I need serious insight.

BACKGROUND

Near where I live there's a huge manor built at the beginning of the century by Mr. Bleury, a very rich man that wanted a big europeen style castle like his family up there. During his living with his wife, he cheated her numerous times. One day, she found out and couldn't take it. She then burned the house down while her husband was in there. She was in there as well and she either commited suicide before the flame reatch her of simply waited the inevitable.

Since then, part of the manor is abandonned/condemmned. A big part is still used for receptions and such but the part where the couple lived is rather scary, weird and has never been used since. They re-builted the "skeleton" (like all the 2X4s, stairs etc. with only a couple walls) and the saved furniture (old style furniture) is chaotically spread throught the manor). Nobody for some reason want this part of the manor and the employees that work in the still functionnal place refuse to go near the old part.

INSIDE THE MANOR

The only way for us to get in is to go on the side, pull a wood sheet off the wall to reveal a secret passage that leads directly to the basement (cold basement built with stones and bricks). So, I went there many times suspecting the place is haunted considering I've heard many people relate to weird phenomenons they saw/experienced there. I wasen't very scared as I am not very sensitive to this stuff (although I'm a strong beleiver) but the more I would go there (went many times) each time I'd be less and less confortable. At some point, I was even scared although I was with some people. You just feel as if you're constantly beeing watched there and it's not very fun when it happens in underground passageways (small stone corridors in the basement) with only lighters to light the place.

Also, nobody EVER wanted to go in there alone wether they are beleivers or not. Everyone always had some excuse not to go alone. We even offered 50$ to the one who would go in alone by the basement's passage and go up to the second story window in the same window where the woman have been said to appear sometimes at night especially on full moon days.

EXPERIENCES

Once, I went there with my cousin and a friend. Now, we are all kinda beleivers but my cousin and friend just didn't think about it at the moment as we had fun going throught this "maze". We visited the whole part (very cool place with lots of passageways) and then came to the last place we haden't seen, the second attic tower (you know those kind of victorian towers). The stairs led up there but it was dark. It was the only place in the whole complex that was made of dark (almost black) wood. For the first time in all our visits, we stopped and nobody wanted to go first. To this day we can't explain this sudden fear. Yes it was dark in there but considering we went there at night (100% complete darkness) with torches and weren't as scared as when we were facing the stairs in daylight, it couldn't have been this. My friend finally decided to go after strong pressure of ours and we followed. Nobody was there of course but an eerie feeling.

Once, I went there with some stupid girls (that were like "ohh let's go to the haunted house" in a sacarstic tone) and promptly did. Once in, we walked a little and girls were joking when suddently one started to yell "who pulled my hair" but in a very drastic tone. We thought she was kidding (they were kinda dumb) but she began to be very panicked and freaked out (you can't fake this). I then felt we shouldn't be there and convinced my friends to let go and go away (pretending the police would come although I only felt as if we weren't welcomed at all).

On the property, there a big quay with marshes under them. A little kid drowned there a couple years ago also. Last time I went, we walked and I saw something weird. A small but very bright pure-white light appeared in mid air, zig-zaged a little bit and disseapeared. Now don't get me wrong, I know what fireflies and other bright insects look like and it wasen't. It was very very very bright (almost illuminating the air around it), like between a golf and tennis ball in size, pure-white and completely silent. The way we were all standing, I was the only one who saw it and it deffinatly wasen't an hallucination.

WHAT WAS IT?

I have (well, had) a sensitive friend (a girl) and once, I came there with her. As we went closer to the manor she immediatly said "don't tell me, this is the haunted place you talk about" (pointing the abandonned part even though we couldn't discern from distance). I said yes. She never wanted to leave the car, she felt way too much evil and suffering there (probably lots of residual energies) although we went there to go in. I told her about the ball of light and she said she occasionally see them as well in her house. She says they simply are orbs but that bright? I wonder...

What's your thoughts? I've heard many many stories about the place as well from friends of friends so I am not alone to fear the place. I would gladly go there again with my digital cam (photo) but the staff there (still living part) prevent us to go for safety reasons (sucks but I understand theire point). If I ever have a chance to go, I'll take as many pictures I can of the place and it's surrounding. Who knows, maby something will show up...

LEGENDS ABOUT THE PLACE

Things I've heard so far from supposedly sensitive people are:

1- Boys and men can freely go in there without any risk.
2- Girls that go there are exposed to risks.
3- One shouldn't start to mess with the furniture.
4- Sometimes the shadow of a walking person can be seen on the quays.

The explaination I've heard for such things to happen is:

The lady mainly haunts the place. She hates girls for obvious reasons but like boys (for also obvious reasons). Sort of a personnal revenge that would explain point 1 and 2. Also, apparently the lady hates who ever mess with her things explaining point 3. The point 4 can either be the lady, her husband or most likely the drown kid.

The cheating husband is also said to haunt the place but apparently, not as much as her wife. Maby she finally beated him in the other world, who knows...

These are only speculations but in all, I find them pretty accurate considering all what happened to me and others there that I'm sure of.

Thanks for reading. This deffinatly has to be investigated. Once I start my amateur ghost haunting club, we are going to do whatever we can to go back there.

Dude that sounds very interesting. Again, I never heard of that place but you should go to work on that! That is good stuff. From what you say, I think there is a possibililty of it being haunted but then again (psychologically speaking) when you tend to have your mindset on that place being haunted you then tend to expect to see and hear from what your friends and "the legend" tell you and tend to arise your senses to make or force yourself to hear and see those occurances. More than likely though I go with your word because you wouldn't waste your time typing up all of that for fiction play. You got a website for that. Oh yea, down in Texas in Sunnyvale this mayor busted up this big drug dealing that happened in the eighties or early nineties or something like that (please if somebody knows it and knows I goofed up the story please be a good wing man and correct me). He got good publicity and everything for it. Well some peeps of the people related to the drug dealing went to his house and I guess shot or stabbed him to death and burned his mansion down or tried (it survived in a way and is still up today). Three or four summers ago this guy from summer school wanted to smoke out and wanted to go to the mansion. So we went to the front of it (gated up obviously) and got out and he got a gasoline tank from his trunk and I was like "what the $*%!" Well he said that nobody can set this place on fire because the man keeps blowing it out. So we went in the mansion, got high and tried to set the place on fire with gasoline. Man nothing would catch on fire. We went outside to see if anything would catch and anything outside did catch on fire. So we got some stuff inside the mansion and tried to set it on fire and it set on fire. So we were laughing in amazement and kind of messed up we went back inside and tried to set easy stuff on fire. Nothing would catch. I even tried to set some paper in my pocket on fire and it wouldn't even catch. So we were amazed that gasoline wouldn't even catch on fire. So we gave up and started to walk out. Well, out of nowhere this piece of this mansion came flying and landed like twelve feet in front of us! It landed just right in front of our path on the concrete. The wind was not blowing we weren't seeing stuff. It really happened so we sprinted out of there and were just in amazement that the F*&#er or something threw something at us. Then again I would too if someone came in disrespecting my property. I know it is a shitty story but I'd thought I'd share that since it came to mind when the lady burnt down her house.

Thanks for your reply dude.

And yes, it could all be in my head as you said and I perfectly understand why and all that's why I am not immediatly saying that the place is haunted for sure. One thing that is sure though is that I didn't invent anything I wrote. I am a very good writer (although english isn't my first language as you probably noticed) so I could've made something way better if I wanted (but that would be stupid).

But you know, the first few times I went there and got those creepy feelings plus the attic thing, we had never heard of any legend concerning it or that it was haunted. We went there just to visit it because it's simply huge and classic. It's when we began talking about it that some people recorgnized the place and that's when we began to hear about it and you know the rest.

No big surprise that you never heard about it because actually I don't even know if there are well known haunted places in Québec. I submitted the place to www.castleofspirits.com but they never added it to the haunted place index (even though there's a place for Canada).

Despite all that, another thing that is weird is the fact that I saw this bright white light hovering before my eyes. That's the only thing that can't be out of my immagination. And it surely wasen't an hallucination. It happened right after we went out of the manor after the girl felt someone or something pull her hair and freaked out. We went out and headed on the quays where I saw it. I didn't immagine it because I still have all the details in my head as clearly as if it happened yesterday (been close to a year now). And it wasen't an insect. No insect looks like this. Even 100 fireflies together couldn't make up what I saw. Pure light. The ball went from the trees (there are woods by) and vanished into thin air. It couldn't have been someone in the woods with a firecracker or such because first, it didn't make a friggin sound and second, we are on a quay so anyone in the trees by it would be in roughly 2 ft or disgusting swamp mud.

So, as we discuss I will surely find a way to investigate furthermore. I will bring my old numerical camera (photo) and take as much snaps I can. It's an old cam but as far as I know anything works. If I can't get anything paranormal you will at least see the place. There could be a way throught the marshes and woods to get there without beeing seen but frankly, those dark swampy woods don't make me feel very easy considering what I saw over there by them and considering a little boy really did misteriously drowned in the marshes. So I'll probably have to get there at night when everyone sleeps but I don't think I'll ever dare to go IN at night again. The place just drive me crazy the more and more I get close to it.

Haunted of not it's a very creepy place when you look at it from the outside and just thinking about it gives me goosbumps.

I also suspect another abandonned place near where I live to be haunted but that will be in another topic when I decide to go and begin investigation (to this day I only saw it from the road in my car). Seeing it gives me the creeps and I've also heard things about it.

Cheers.

Yea that makes great since that I don't hear about that haunting. Hey if you say that the place might lean towards some paranormal activity then I might have to agree with you. Man you should start your own team to investigate like you mentioned earlier in one of your topics. It will be good adventures and I'm sure you will not leave empty handed.
JayMark
I'm deffinatly gonna start my own paranormal investigaton group sometimes (soon I hope). Well, it's gonna be mostly an amateur thing and we're gonna start slowly (as I don't really have money to invest in that right now).

I have an old digital camera here (photo) so that's a good start. A thermometer shouldn't be hard to find as well as a tape recorder. An EMF meter will be harder and longer to get but it's not the most important thing so it's not a big problem for now.

I know of 2 places right now that could be haunted (manor and old abandonned house) and one that I know to be haunted by a peacefull protective spirit (friend's house).

What is difficult is to find members. I don't know that many people who are beleivers and out of those even less that'd join my group. My cousin is sensitive to a point but he dosen't want to push it as one sighting is more that enough for him as he says. I know a girl who is very sensitive and would gladly join but hem... you know... I got a crush on her a couple months ago but she now has a boyfriend so I don't think I'll call her back for obvious reasons.

Anyways I'm glad to have found this board. Finally one who isn't filled with sceptics that register only to argue and provoke. You guys seem very intelligent and rationnal.

I think I'm gonna like this place a lot.

yes.gif Thats was very interesting to read, sounds like a powerful place, did anyone else feel or see anything (beside the girl having her hair pulled)
and have you experienced any other strange stuff there???

I went to Tubury Castle In Shropshire UK last year we were one our motorbike so as we were walking in the grounds i was holding my bike helmet when i felt & heard 3 strong taps to the front of the helmet i said to my husband "Roger" did you just tap my helmet he said No looking at me strange as i was holding it in my left hand Roger was to my right , i sould have realised that but i needed a explaination.....So inside the Great Hall i asked the woman who owns the castle & dresses up as Mary Queen Of Scotts for the vistors about it She said Yes there is a spirit child a girl anout 7 or 8 yrs old who runs about the crowds of people and if there is something she have not seen before or takes her interest she touches it or pulls at it....but its only happens to women & children she will not go near men as she was Brutaly attacked & murdered by the lord in the kings chamber as a man servent watched on & was helpless to help the child...
i do have a weird picture of something in the dungeon there is a blurry image next to my husband, unsure what it is....i will post it soon ok

Interesting.

Well, many people saw/heard/felt things there but what exactly I can't really remember and anyways, out of these I'd say maby 9 out of 10 might be due to immagination.

UPDATE (WENT THERE AGAIN)

Well, guess what I went there this weekend. Well, I didn't want but a close friend of mine who is very sceptic (don't beleive in that at all) absolutely wanted to go. So me and my cousin who already went numerous times felt quite nervous to have to go in again. Like I already told you it's that manor who made us start to beleive in such things as that it's haunted (before hearing any story or history of the place).

So, we luckily found a way to the manor by foot (without alerting security) but once we went there we were shocked as every way IN were now inexistant. They nailed big plywood sheets over the holes and broken windows so we can't get it. The only accessible way is to escalade the rocky wall to the second floor and enter by a window (they didn't bother to shut the 2nd and 3rd story windows). Me and my cousin could do it but my friend (a girl) couldn't. "Too bad" I said but in reality I was more thinking "yesssss, I'll keep my sanity for a little longer then". We could always destroy the sheets of wood with axes but it'd make too much noise. Maby with a crowbar but I'll seek upon that at another moment. Although she just saw inside of it by a small opening in some window, she admitted that the place is creepy and feels weird.

SHOCKING NEWS

As I was looking to discover more of the place's history, I learned to my depend that everytime they did something with the dead part (ie. re-building and re-arranging) it would catch on fire. But since the manor is made of rocks and cement only the wooden skeleton and walls would partially burn BUT always leaving the old furniture intact. Since then they again re-builded in part (like I told you earlier) like all the 2X4's and some walls and for some reason suddenly stopped and left it as is and as it is right now.

OTHER EVENTS (JUST REMEMBERED THOSE)

Another weird thing, my cousin who has a gold chain in his neck aslo had a gold cross (christian cross) and he would always take care of it and had it for a long time (it was his presciousss). Well one time that we went into the manor and as the usual he kissed his cross before going in. Well, we did nothing else that walking in there and sat on chairs but when we went out, his cross had disseapeared. We did all the same route we had followed backwards but never found it. The way it was done you couldn't have lost it like that by just walking (he had almost welded it there so it was important to him). I also lost a lighter there under some staris but could never find it even though it couldn't have gone very far.

Also, we talked about the manor yesterday and my cousin told me about that day (when we went there once) and how he saw a shadow running across a big room. Well he haden't told me that and it shocked me because that same day, at the same time (or close) I had seen a shadow out of the corner of my eye. Not a regular shadow but in a human-like shape but so dark you couldn't see throught. We were shocked and ended the conversation. I haden't told him that before as well because I thought it was my immagination (so did he). Was it? Maby... we'll never know.

Wow. This is getting interesting. I can't wait to go back and take pics to show them to you guys. If I can't go in next time, I'll at least take pics of the outside and surrondings. Oh and some of the inside by those small openings (big enough for my arms to go in with the cam).

Peace my friends.
JayMark
I've noticed that some of you are in Canada.

Anyone in Québec province by any chance? If so are you close enough to Montréal and the surrondings?

Because if so it'd be fun if you can come with me for a paranormal investigation in that manor. I usually go with friends or with my cousin but I'm really the only one interested in the paranormal. My cousin had the confirmation he's sensitive to ghosts but for him it's a real curse and he dosen't want to push it.

It'd be nice to be with people like you guys. You're all so cool.
