Yeah i have to agree. I dont think any cryptids are stupid.
Can i have a reason why you guys think Chupa is stupid ? Or a why a Thunderbird is so stupid ?

As to my response, I wasn't saying that any Cryptids were "Stupid" intelligence-wise. I believe this thread is merely about which Cryptid seems unlikeliest to exist to you..
To me, that's El Chupacabra. The notion that a Cryptid spent 25 years plaguing the spanish community exclusively, seems ridiculous to me and forces me to file it under "Myth."
Of course nowadays Anglos claim to see them too, but that's the nature of Urban Legends. They cross cultural boundaries after a time..
MadEyePixie
I agree with Falco. The reason I think Chupa is "stupid" is because I don't see it as something that likely exsists. Plus, the creature just irks me for some reason.
Conspiracy
chupa has been around since the mayan and aztec days, how does that seem unlikely to exist?
Falco Rex
I'm not talking about Central American God Myths though, which only bear a passing resemblence to the way the Chupa is described at any rate..
The modern chupacabras myth began in Puerto Rico in the mid-70's with the Moche Vampire case..
Doubtless with as many myths as there are about monsters you can find some creature to match the Chupacabras general description, but as far as eye-witness testimony and modern stories, that's as far back as they reliably go..
Recent don't you think?
scorpion_vuk
i think it exists. and dont forget that it can be an alien alien.gif
_Nyx_
I never heard of Chupacabras until that made for TV movie came out about it. It seems after that, anything and everything was labeled 'El Chupacabra'.
AnimangaBloodThorn
I don't think that any of them are 'stupid,' as you put it.

I may be looking at the use of 'stupid' in the wrong way, but why would a cryptid be stupid? If it doesn't, or you don't think, it exists, then how can it be stupid? The only thing that would be stupid in this case would be the person or people who made it up. However, no one should really call them stupid because we don't know if they exist or not. That is why they are cryptids, no?

Did any of you understand that? I think I confused myself...Or maybe I'm just digging too deep into this thread, lol.

As for which one I find least likely to exist, it would probably be the Chupacabra. There are so many varying stories and sightings and versions of what it looks like that it is really unbelievable. If it does exist, then it is probably a heck of a lot different that what most people say and think it is...Just my two cents.

Especially wild dogs apparently.. tongue.gif

Of course; then you must force yourself to assume that two unproven things are true, instead of just one, just to make room for your belief. Strictly a personal choice, I know; and I won't judge you for having it..
For my part however, it seems clear that it's merely natural predators in most cases. Although some of the Chupacabra Mutilation cases suggest human handiwork instead of animals..
scorpion_vuk
i didnt mean stupid like not smart. i meant the lest favourite
Undefined_innocence
I would have to say....

Lizzard Men/People.

Everytime i hear about that i think 'well, how stupid do you think we are to believe something like that'.

sadistic jellyfish of doom
The telepathic rugby ball duh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dragonic Darkness
I dunno... The Chupacabra seems pretty real to me... :S

I think that it is either an alien that can only live in the climate's that Latin America just happens to provide, or some sort of derranged, mutated creature that was made either by a freak in evolution or our intervention with nature, and is now loose and has adapted to Latin American climates.

Naw the one that seems "stupidest" to me... would have to be... The Jackelope. tongue.gif
fawkes2
for me its the Chupacabra .
DF_RooT
Mothman.
psyche101
Although not a cryptid, Vampires get a big mention in these threads, and the legend has become a ridiculous sub-culture.

So my vote goes to the old Vampire grin2.gif

Why Thunderbird? There have been remains of an ancestor of the Andean Condor discovered in Argentina that were about as big as Thunderbirds are reported to be.
That at least makes it somewhat likely.

Chupa is the least likely in my book, because there is no animal that is remotely like it anywhere, and if real we would have to create a whole new kingdom. It could be an alien, but I really don't believe in aliens and most of the sightings are from the eighties or ninties.

If that's the fact, then why are there not dragon bones or any proof? Do the bones just turn to ash when the dragon dies or something like that?

If the Chupacabra isn't real then why would people come up with these stories in the first place? You have to remember when people are scared they panic and sometimes they are in such a shock they can't remember exactly what they saw? Ya, know? So, that's why every story or description of the Chupacabra isn't the same. Then some people will make a false story up for attention or publicity. wink2.gif

I saw a program on television about that. I can't remember any of it all I remember it saying is the Chupa dates back as far as the mayan and aztec era.

Certain South American rain forest natives believe in the "mosquito-man", a mythical creature of their folklore that pre-dates modern chupacaras sightings.

The legend of los Chupacabras began in about 1992, when Puerto Rican newspapers El Vocero and El Nuevo Dia began reporting the killings of many different types of animals, such as birds, horses, and as its name implies, goats.

At the height of the Chupacabras craze, there were probably a couple dozen "Goatsucker Home Pages" on the Internet. The web site of radio host Art Bell posted an alleged photograph of a living Chupacabras, depicting a ridiculous creature later exposed as a statue from a museum exhibit.

There you go. Also, during the eighties many people in mostly-Catholic Central America claimed to have seen demonic smurf hiding in thier house plants. And, as Dave Barry would say, I am not making this up.
