Im not a very big fan of the "saucerloonies" i.e. people who assume that all UFO are alien space craft or possibly secret government experiments, everything else is out of the question.

Anything to do with Erich Von Daniken..His spurious discoveries and poorly researched finds have become a sort of Bible to many; causing no end to speculations inspired by falsities..

Von Daniken is my all-time looney hero.
I know he talks a load of twaddle, but I can't help liking the guy...lol

Liking him is one thing..Basing how you view reality on what he's said is another..

I have read tonza books on aliens, but one author sticks out to be the most rediculous of them all.. Phillip H. Krapf chucks a whole load of S*** about his supposed experiences with alien entities... he says he has frequent visits by aliens called the 'Verdents'.. To me .. sounds too much like some name taken from Star Treck!

My least favourite thing to do with the UFO scene is the Billy Meier debacle. Just can't stand it.. annoys the hell out of me.

LITS (Lights In The Sky). Not the ones that move in an interesting way, the ones that are just a light in the sky.
Loads of could be's and may be's but in the end they are just a light in the sky.
Also when the News people say "little green men" when there is a UFO storey on their programmes.

Seriously. I throw garbage can lids like Frisbees and take pictures, too, but I don't pretend they're alien 'beamships'.

Well anyway,
I must side with friend Pogo. Those people are very... confused.
Though obviously not as confused as friend Irish.
But still... On my own opinoin, I would very much like to box the ears of Roswell Conspirists and fanatics.
The Roswell Incident has always gotten in the way.

This drives me crazy too. You hear that too much on this board. Humans can do noting right, aliens must have done everything.

Some of the 'logical explanations' which are routinely given: a particular favorite being the 'missile' explanation : 'it wasn't a UFO, it was a missile, but we have no idea where it may have came from or who fired it and the military deny all knowledge.' Excuse me?! You're telling us that someone is firing random missiles about but you say you don't know who they are? And this is more rational and logical than it being a UFO? And we're expected to be reassured by this?!
The Skeptic Eric Raven
Jun 18 2005, 09:03 PM
So believing it is an piloted alien vehicle makes more sense than an aircraft or missile. What you smoking? Too many believers substitute aliens for a god figure. Aliens explain everything. Whatever!

Jun 18 2005, 09:26 PM
If we accept the 'missile' explantion, though, if every time an airline pilot reports seeing something, and it's explained as a missile, but whose and from where is never explained, isn't that a bit worrying in itself? Or if not a missile, that it's some unidentified jet that no one knows anything about and that's flying through our airspace without permission?
The Skeptic Eric Raven

Makes more sense than an alien craft, unless that is what your are desperately wanting to believe.

You're right. If it wasn't a missile, then it simply HAS to be an alien ship. There is simply NO other explanation.

I hate people who seem to forget what UFO stands for. It's just something in the air and we don't know what it is. A balloon could be a UFO. Or a kite...or a bird... or a pig...

I hate the motivation behind the concept of this topic. This is completely meaningless.
