I think what you have there is a simulacra rather than a fossil. Bones tend to fossilize, but what you've got there is something that seems to have fully defined features. The only way this happens naturally is if it were pulled from a bog..
Unearthed from the ground, I'd say it's almost impossible for a whole head to be completely preserved..

What am I supposed to be looking at ? Looks like dog feces to me.
aquatus1
Looks like a rock shaped like the elephant man's head.

Well, I think it's a great picture of an unusually shaped shark tooth. But it sure does look like an alien head!! Enjoyed the picture...thanks for posting it. I'll bet you have some cool fossils--Shells will fossilize too, not just bones. Wood will too. My aunt is a geophysicist, she teaches me alot on beach trips. Can spot 'em 10 feet away without fail. Very cool aunt. Don't be too discouraged by people. They must really think you think this is really an alien head.

Teeth, of course, will also fossilize. Only thing left of sharks, who unfortunately don't have any bones. If I were you, I'd be pretty proud of this if it IS a shark's tooth. happy.gif
