"As for any underground activity, I have no idea, but I do know this, they also do "radar testing" there. They put "planes" on a tower and fire a radar at them to "get a reading"(?) from a HUGE (I'd say 10 story) microwave radar dish. (it was visible from the highway several miles away). The whole facility sat out in the middle of a several hundred (or possibly thousands) acre field, oddly devoid of most all naturally occurring groundcover, bushes and trees for the area except for wild grass, and even that was very seldom green. HMMMM. My Dad used to work the crane lifting these "planes" onto the tower, a duty they only allowed each person to do for a few weeks and then only one or two rotations in a lifetime - can you say radioactive sickness? By the way, he recently went though his THIRD fight with cancer in 8 years). He had to have the highest level clearance ever given to any civilian in his branch of the civil service. He said many times these "planes" were under tarps, (which were never lifted while he was present) and didn't have any shape he recognized as an airplane at all, but when they did put an actual plane up there, they were usually older and even many times, out of service models. Now why would they need radar info on those? Can you say smokescreen?
I was constantly amazed how many times my friends and I would go out 4-wheeling MILES in the opposite direction of the Fort, and would run into locked gates with "No Entrance, Govt Property" signs on them! Needless to say, the Govt owned much of the land around the Sierra Vista/Ft Huachuca area.

Dumpgoddess told me she used to work at a highway rest area known as Munds Park. One day some military trucks and men pulled in and pretty much said OK, thanks for working here, we're closing the place, Buh-bye!" They spent years expanding the site and then left. The rest stop is still closed to any traffic and the entrance and exit road to it from the highway have been ripped up. Another person I know in that area said there are unmarked military trucks and vehicles parked in the back now and the place "is huge" compared to what it was, and looks quite deserted in spite of the construction.
"I live 20 miles out of Flagstaff AZ. .There is a rest area 1/2 mile away. When the government was building this rest area it took almost 3 1/2yrs to complete, and there were tall fences with dark canvas-like tarps all the way around the area so no one could see what was going on .There were also big army looking trucks pulling in and out all night, every night. Everyone in Munds Park could hear them coming and going. Now the govt. is closing the rest area for good. I'm told the fences will be put back up. I would bet my life on the fact that there is something under this rest area. You see I worked at Christensen (name of rest area) up untill a week ago.

In high school, we had to do pressurization drills once a month where the entire school would pile into the gym and we would seal the gym and pressurize it to keep the gas out. There are sirens all over the community they test once a week (every Wed. at 4) that are to alert of potential chemical weapons leaks. There is constant military air traffic all over the area, and chemtrails are a regular occurrence (until I was about 18, I thought it was normal for contrails to stay for at least 6 hours!). These two bases are always heavily guarded and secured, even before 9/11. One of my friend's dad is an army chemist out there, and he is not allowed to even discuss what he does. The only way I knew that he was a chemist was because he is a doctor and the insignia on his uniform is from the chemical corps. He is very secretive and often disappears late at night to go to work, apparently at a moment's notice (he has two pagers, a govt. one and his regular one). Aberdeen Proving Grounds is the United States' largest military testing facility, and Edgewood Arsenal is it's largest store of arms. I could fill a book with the peculiarities of these two installations.

Addendum: I have been told by many people (all military) that Area 51 isn't really where much is going on - or at least the whole "aliens/crashed saucers are there" mystique is a bit hyped because the area is able to be so secured. That illusion is "allowed" and encouraged to focus the energy of the "Conspiracy" people on it and divert snooping into the real hub of action elsewhere (most say Dulce).
The Air Force recently managed to withdraw 3,972 acres of public land from the surrounding desert and absorbed it into the Groom Lake area, making it prohibited to civilians and under military protection. This was in answer to the (government's) endless battle to keep people from sitting on a ridge that was 10 miles away with telescopic lenses "spying" on the goings-on of the Area and trying to see what all the massive paranoia was about. Double Dog dares, you know....
Also, a bit bizarrely for a place where "nothing is going on", after the New York 9-11 attack, President Bush the Second issued a statement that would exempt this installation "from any Federal, State, Interstate, Local or hazardous waste laws that might require the disclosure of calcified information concerning that operating location to unauthorized persons...information concerning activities at the operating location near Groom Lake have been properly determined to be classified and disclosure would be harmful to national security. Continued protection of this information is in the paramount interest of the United States".

This one's interesting. I was in Henderson on May 3-4, 1988 on one of my Death Valley/Ghost Town/Photography/Screw the World jaunts. (I love Death Valley). I remembered it vividly because I just got tired of driving and happened to turn off for the night and there I was in Henderson. It was a sleepy, dusty town. I ended up in this strange hotel that seemed like part of an old 1940s horror movie, run by the nicest people you'd want to meet. I love stuff like that. They were so surprized to see a visitor they gave me the room for a few bucks. The next morning (May 4) I left and was about two hours from town, trying to get anything on the radio but static, when I heard a news report that there had been a terrible accident in Henderson and the "marshmallow factory" had blown up, killing several people and causing a massive fire. I couldn't believe it...I was just there! I just missed it. If I had been my usual Never In A Hurry self, I'd still be there. I saw the smoke not too long after, still driving; Henderson burning hours away.
Then I heard that what had in fact blown up was a government chemical/bomb plant. I was stunned. This sleepy little dusty town had a bomb plant? Huh? I couldn't find a thing online about the original lie that it was a marshmallow plant. I KNOW they said that - in fact I had called home a few hours after this happened to let them know I was OK because I had called the night before and they knew I's stayed there. I asked them, now - if they remembered me calling and this story? and they did. It made no sense at all to me. What also doesn't make sense is how 4,500 tons of ammonium perchlorate can be in the middle of a town and now it's surrounded by homes. In May, 1991 a huge release of chlorine occurred in Henderson - are we that expendable?

".... Do you know anything about a NAVAL base out in the middle of the Nevada desert? I want to say Hawthorn, or Henderson, or something like that? About half way between LV and Reno. I was up that way a couple years ago helping out with tech inspection for <a popular auto race out there> while making the drive from Vegas to Reno, out in the middle of nowhere, is this damn NAVAL base! Wow, that's strange I think, so I go though the little town of the same name, and then I see a HUGE lake, also "in the middle of nowhere" and not really looking developed for "public use". What really weird is that the entire lake looks as if it could be only a few feet deep, VERY slightly angled shores (no steep inclines, like a boat ramp, except from the cliffs of the mountain it sits against) and actually could almost pass for simply a rain or run off"pond" if its acreage wasn't so big. Yet, out in the middle of this "shallow" lake (starting at the shore of the shallowest looking end), is an almost perfectly straight, dead centered, dead calm "strip" of water (you now the "still waters run deep" expression, its true). Coincidentally enough, this entire end of the lake (about 80% of the lake in fact) is posted,,,yep, you guessed it,, "OFF LIMITS" with the familiar red and white govt issue signs.
Well, the guy that was riding with me to Reno grew up in the Vegas area, and says the rumor is that the Naval base designs/builds super secret submarines, and the "trench" at the end of the lake is in fact the opening of a long underground water tunnel leading back to the base, so they can test the subs in the lake, and "supposedly" this is the deepest lake in the US, or maybe the world".

I have to make a business trip to Aberdeen Proving Grounds in August. I go there usually twice a year. Interesting security arrangements there, most military bases I've been to use military police for the gate security. At APG the security is both military and private. The military guards were a lot friendlier; the wife tried chatting with the black uniformed private security guys and they just didn't have any sort of humor.

I'll have to ask them about the tunnels.

Okay, rather than just recite the mythological stories of secret underground bases lets do a little sincere research. Retelling stories only furthers the ignorance of the facts. This is a topic of personal interest to me; I work in the telecommunications industry and know that public information exists on most allegedly secret sites. Its only a matter of doing a bit of sincere research.

Let me give you an example. Just about every secure government site was actually constructed by a private corporation. In the case of 'Mount Weather' the local community was quite aware that something was being constructed. They saw the construction equipment coming and going. The construction companies even contracted local companies to do catering during the construction.

Another interesting fact is that most, probably all, of these secret sites have their telecommunications support provided by not-so-private companies. The government has been working on high-speed secure telecommunications networks for quite some time now. These are networks of dedicated DS-3 and OC type circuits. Some of these are substantial projects in and of themselves. Right here in Minneapolis there is a very interesting 'bunker' for some of these circuits. Its the old Federal Reserve Bank in downtown Minneapolis. The building is a literal fortress, it still even has the street entrance gun ports if you look carefully. Heck, you can walk within feet of the building. Now its a server farm for a lot of interesting telecommunications concerns.

Now all of these circuits originate and terminate somewhere. If I was running a high-speed connection to a secret site somewhere, anywhere, I would not terminate it directly at the location. I would use a Central Office type facility, preferably one that is already based within a secured site. I don't think its any accident that Nellis is so close to Area 51. If you were to run a high speed circuit in there the interconnection point could be Nellis easily.

There is a lot of this information publicly available. I live near a large University Library. Its amazing what I've found there in the course of my own research. I really appreciate the efforts some people make with their FOIA inquiries but they might be better served by visiting a decent library. Most large corporations have a lot of information available at public sources.

Okay, if you are interested in really knowing more about these sites then work here with me. Don't just keep perserving a mythology. Lets get some facts. If you're interested I'll write more about what I've found.

My interests are mainly in the underground bunkers the Nazis built near the end of the Second World War. They built at least 169 of these bunkers. Some of them were virtual underground cities; they housed factories and garrisons. The Nazis used substantial numbers of slave laborers to construct them but even they had to use private corporations for some of the work.

After the end of the war most of these bunkers were sealed up or destroyed. Some were so well built that they couldn't be easily destroyed and the efforts to seal them were not all that good. There are now German societies that visit and explore these sites for the fun of it. It isn't always such a safe thing to do, some of the old bunkers are flooded and still have munitions hidden in them.

Some of the old Nazi bunkers have been put to use by the occupying powers. The Russians even went so far as to refit them for their own use. Some have a lot of mysteries attached to them, particularly some of those constructed in Czechoslavkia. Now this starts running into the legends of Nazi UFOS and what not but it is interesting. This is one of my fascinations with all of this.

I grew up near Oxford, Ohio - home of Miami University. About 5 miles outside of Oxford was a missle silo that was supposedly shut down, and filled with concrete, however, there is still a military presence maintained at this facility.

While I was in the Army, I was stationed at Ft.Irwin, CA for 2 years. There were places near the mountains that were off limits for unknown reasons. Rumors were that there were underground mines that were abondoned that the government was storing waste in. I never got to see them, but was always interested.

I live in the country, about 30 miles south of Wright Patterson AFB, and several of the kids that I grew up with had parents that worked there. During some of the 'sleep overs' that we had, we would get told 'scary' stories about a large underground base that was off limit's after the first couple of floors. This is where we got the 'escaped lunatic' or 'genetic manipulations' on the loose from.
Looking back on this, it was interesting, because there were a few of us kids that were on the baseball team, that hung out. Out of the group, a few of the parents worked at the facility, and they all had the same story about the underground base.

Supposedly there is an underground mine entrance in Preble County where I live that may lead to the base beneath Wright Patterson AFB which is in Montgomery County, the county north of us...

WPAFB is too open to be an alien hiding spot -- hangar 9 or 13 right? They are ohio's #1 employer and I personally know at least 100 different people who work thereor have worked there. Not to mention that a large part of the base is open to the public with the museum and imax. If there was ever anything top secret being held/built there, I am sure it would have been moved to a more secured location.

When I first heard of this base, I was like - Yeah, right!?!

Then a family member had the chance to visit the facility and confirmed that it was a true underground base - Laboratory.

U.S. Army Dugway Proving Ground is NOT a major repository of chemicals. The poster of this probably got it confused with Deseret Chemical Depot, which is on the other side of the Stansbury Mountains from Dugway, south of Tooele, Utah.
At Deseret Chemical Depot, the U.S. is incinerating its store of chemical weapons from Tooele Army Depot. Some of these weapons, such as "nerve gas" or "mustard agent" date to World War II!
Thank God they're being destroyed, at last.

Radiation storage? Nope. Dugway has never been a depository for radiation. Never. In the NBC (Nucelar, Biological, Chemical) arena it has only worked with the BC of NBC. Over at Nevada Test Site, hundreds of miles away, you may find radiation storage. I don't know. But I know it's not stored at Dugway.

Dugway's primary mission is to test defenses against chemical and biological warfare agents. These defenses include gas masks, protective suits, detectors, field analyzers, decontaminators, decontaminants, etc.
In accordance with international treaties, no actual agents are used outdoors. If a test must be conducted outdoors, then simulated agents are used. A common simulant for chemical agents, such as VX (nerve gas) or HD (mustard gas) is Oil of Wintergreen.
Yep, the same stuff found in mint candies, mouthwash, Ben Gay, etc. Its scientific name is Methyl salicylate or MeS.
A long-used simulant for anthrax is Bascillus globigii, or BG. This benign microbe is a spore, just like anthrax, but is harmless in the amounts used for testing.
Oh sure, if you swallow a handful of BG you'll probably get sick and have a bad case of diarrhea, but that's about it. In the concentration used for outdoor testing of detectors, you'd never get anywhere near that dose.

As for underground tunnels at Dugway.

I've been all over Dugway, in vehicles and by air. There are no tunnels. None. No underground facilities. The hangar at Michael Army Airfield is empty most of the time, except for an occasional aircraft passing through, visiting or in need of repair.

No alens. No UFOs. No underground tunnels. Oh sure, there's classified tests and training conducted here but nothing other-worldly.

Bear in mind that the people who come up with this stuff have a book, video or website to advertise. Those websites frequently offer T-shirts, coffee mugs and other trinkets. It's a business for them. It's in their best interest to keep the lies and deceptions going. They profit from it.

The next time you see some jackleg being interviewed on a conspiracy show, watch the credit. Nine times out of 10 under his name will be, "Author of 'The Great Conspiracy of UFOs' " or some such thing. He's marketing, pure and simple. He's after your bucks.

Others are just plain mistaken or --- how can I put this delicately? --- um ... Loonies! Crackpots! People so pathetically desperate for attention that they'll say anything to get in front of a camera!
And there's yet another type: I watched a documentary on a guy and his wife who chartered a boat in Bimini and "searched" for Atlantis for two weeks. It was their sixth year of "searching!" Nice job! Write off the vacation as a business expense! And probably get all kinds of conspiracy nuts to contribute to your expedition too!
