Righty, let's take this back to the begining.

You've never heard of Janis Joplin. I bet you have. With such classic songs as, "Me and Bobby Mcgee", trend setting lines like..."Freedom's just another word for, nothing left to lose"

Songs like " Broken english", the first ever female screamer, she so rocked.

C'mon you must of heard of her?

Oh and I love Franz-ferdinand.

Travis are a little slow these days allthough I liked there earlier stuff. "Yellow" was very funky.

Why am I being singled out like this? Lots of people have probably never heard of them, but its isn't posted on its own thread and made to sound like they're ignorant.

Particularly a thread entitled 'Talon, Sheesh,, how old do you have to be?'. As your opening post shows your making a joke at me not knowing bands who were around before I was born, and I understand you do not mean to cause offense. But to every other person who reads the title but doesn't read the content, it instantly sounds like A MOD is questioning my maturity.

If you had wanted to tell me about the band you could have just sent me a PM, and I will indeed be able to have conversation of it on PM, but not do this.

I do recognise the lyrics Essan posted from an advert a few years back; but I've never heard the names.

I prefer Disturbed myself

Lol Talon, no all the more reason to Listen to Janis. She was a rebel not a hippy but probably the first ever female rock queen. And her lyrics where great. Of course like most people in her day , *Jim Morrison , *Jimmy Hendrix both good friends of Janis's , she took to many drugs and ...well...I'm sure the 3 of them party hard in heaven together.

I know the names Jim Morrison & Jimmy Hendrix. Can't for the life of me thing of what they've done.
Its likely one of these situations were you've heard a song, but know who did it.

My dad's, for example, favourite song is Baker's Street, plays it all the time. I have no idea who sung it.

I'm afraid music has never really interested me, I don't listen to the charts, to music shows etc I tend just to get Sera, Shady or someone else hand me a CD saying you'll like this... or I hear it on a WWE PPV.

And indeed he does have a dog

He died in 1971 it says, god that was 11 years before I was even born.

This guy Hendrix I certainly recognise.

Died 1970, again, well before my time.

Subby, I'm glad you feel shame....Talon ...please tell me you really do know who Jimi hendrix is, I know it's not a crime not to know, but that's like saying you don't know who Chuck berry or Elvis was.

Also I know not of this Baker's Street music, you speak of, it sounds Fatherishly frightening.

Kismit, you're 11 years younger than me....

I had an advantage when it comes to music. My oldest sister was 12 years older than me and I can sing word for word most of the rock fifties music. I have a wide variety of avenues to draw from.

Too bad, I can't remember the names of the songs or most of the artists.

ahhh, Michelle I didn't like most of the music that was popular when I was a kid. In the 80's I was listening to the Kink's, 'well respected man', the Beatles ' Helter Skelter', Cat Stephens ' Teaser and the firecat' and The Cure's , 'Standing on a beach' the original with All of the b sides on it..

Ahhh....remember B sides..

Why Nxt? Is it in the wrong section? Is somebody offended by it? I apreciate devils advocate but not so much the judgement thing. I don't lock peoples threads becuase they are dicussing on topic and or being pleasant to each other, But thank you for your in put any-way.

Janis was a very talented woman... and I really never got in to her really big, but I always listen to her if one of her songs comes on the radio.

Problem is I have a particular taste and tend to switch off when I hear anything else. The Beetles, Elvis, Rolling Stones just don't do anything for me.

Creed's 'What If' however, is one of the greatest songs of all time... well, in my opinion

Yeah, most of Creed's stuff is good like 'With Arms Wide Open' and Six Feet From the Edge', although the lyrics for 'One' just made me laugh, but 'What If', 'Higher' and 'My Sacrifice' just blew me away. Seriously, 'My Sacrifice' is breathtaking.
