We've all seen the movies, books, even video games on the subject. Aliens land with one intention - To exterminate the human race. But why would they do this? What could they possibly have to gain?

Resources

Perhaps a race Has existed on it’s planet for millions of years, and have spent all of it’s non-renewable resources. Perhaps then they go exploring and find a little planet called Earth – A planet with it’s first highly intelligent life forms barely beginning their reign.

The planet goes to waste. What we see as just air or water could be an infinitely valuable recourse to an extra terrestrial race. One which they’d kill for.
PODNickerz
Food, water, possibly could reuse materials from already built structures, slaves?
Stixxman
Maybe intellegent species all do the same thing, in this instance they would be conquering for the sake of domination.
Conspiracy
seeing as if this we'd already be destroyed by now by a more advanced race of aliens cause im pretty sure they'd have found us by now and killed us off if they were hostile
ShaunZero
Well if thats the case, these mofos can last without food, air and water for a really long time. Unless of course, they are taking all of these secretly. People have been seeing UFOs for a very long time.

Well if humans are classified as mammal animals, then wouldn’t extraterrestrials be considered an unknown species of animals? And animals will usually fight for territory and if these aliens can master galactic space travel, they can probably wipe us out in a snap. Yet the government can be so ahead in technology it can be unknown to our sources what technology we are capable of. So I think it wouldn’t be a one day invasion for earth, I think it’d be planned out extremely well. In the case of the aliens wanting sources they wouldn’t want to completely abolish the habitat with big guns, they would just want to remove of the human race. And possible use some for highly important autopsies to discover about the human circumference. And even before that, they would study the humans to see their structures, and what they’re imaginable of bringing to the table. Have you guys (and gals) heard of tesla’s death ray? On the sci-fi show Beyond Belief it had live video feed from space of a circular disk traveling towards the atmosphere, suddenly a large beam almost hits it, the UFO cautiously zips away. So maybe aliens have tried multiple times to host a base on the earth, but the death ray wields them off. But some can travel into earth’s surface without being noticed and host an ideal of studies. It’s such a big topic, it’d take me forever to write this whole thing out.

tesla's death ray...

Quite possible...

LOLZ, maybe they should just make us their slaves and we could do all their work supplying them resources. j/k, I think if evidence and human testomony is true. Then they have been comming here for thousands of years. Why would they wait untill we were advanced enough to fight back with nuclear weapons and other technology that we've only gained in the last 100 years. IF indeed they exist, perhaps their mission is something else. Any thoughts or feedback to this?

Why would aliens destroy us for resources when the universe is in abundance of it, extract resources from some where else like comets, or whatever a barren planet with an abundance of a certain element(s), Just take bits here and there and make use of them.

I only can see them looking for food, like meat or plants, but if they are so intelligent they would do what we do mass produce our food.

theoric
maybe it would just be fun for them to kill humans. hmm.gif

earth: game farm to the greys.
come visit earth and go on an exciting safari to capture or kill your own human. many plans available to choose from!

Because some sources on earth are already manufactured and ready for fast transportation. Would you rather want to find another comet that supplies gold, spend hours digging to find it. Or just go directly to a place where you can almost instantly regain it with thievery. You going to have to realize that there are other planets out there that can be exactly like earth, so if sources are easy to claim, why wouldn’t you go there and take it like nothing. It’s common sense for any animal to get things done easier, then to dedicate numerous hours to getting it (robots, machines, THE COMPUTER I’M TYPING AWAY ON)…As technology evolves things become easier, thus you’ll take the easiest way to receive things.
Super Pancake
Yes there may be other planets like earth but it does not mean interstellar travelers come from a planet like earth. And besides how do you know attacking another planet like ours would be the easiest way to get resources. rolleyes.gif
Xoisk el Sońador
Because it may have similar resources which may gain importance to aliens. Like they move from planet to planet, to gather up on mass substances for emergency needs.

Ever heard of nano-technology? I'm pretty sure that once you develop it... Goodbye war, hello peace in the universe.

But of course, if the alien invaders are overzealous right-wing religious freaks like the ones here on Earth, it will be tough to negotiate with them.

Stixxman
What if it wasn't hostile at all. What if the need from us was more profound. What if their race is dying and humans are a HIGHER form of life than them. This would go with the cross breeding thing, they need our genetics to survive. Why do we always have to be inferior to beings from other planets? Why couldn't our ability to adapt be a special quality to us that others might require?
Super Pancake
Finally some one with sense, evrybody here thinks aliens have human death rays, galatical battle ships, pods, or death stars. It is just to funny, to think an alien race would travel billions of light years to start a fight, with an unknown species in an unknown territory, Or they would come here just to steal something from us. alien.gif

Perhaps they're doing the same thing humans do to other species here on Earth. When we want to know more about a particular species, we extract a couple from their natural environment, run some tests, see how they behave in captivity, tag them, and release them back into the wild and monitor them from afar. Sometimes we even 're-abduct' animals we've already studied to see how they've changed.

Isn't this a plausible explanation? To a being that's capable of interstellar travel, we probably seem about as advanced as a great ape or an orca, so why would they worry about the ethics of abducting a few of us in the name of science when we do the same thing all the time?

Stixxman
Last time I checked we were a bit more sentient than an Orca or great ape. Does everybody have an inferiority complex on this planet. Think of it in a different perspective having superior technology is no sign of superior intellect. My neighbour drives a BMW but he's an idiot, I drive a second hand toyota but I am far more intellegent than him. Not everyone flying around in planes (as a passenger) know how they work but they are traveling by a more efficient means than the people taking trains. Not everyone driving cars know the inner workings of the cobustion engine but they are moving faster than people on bikes. I don't know how to build a computer but I know how to use one. If they have the ability to fly farther and faster than what we can do now then thats it, it doesn't mean they are further advanced than us it just means that in some areas their tech is greater. I would bet we know things that aren't apperent to other sentient beings.

Ummm...I didn't say we were less intelligent. I said it might appear so to aliens, and if that's the case, it could potentially explain abductions. It was an analogy, dude.

And I don't have an inferiority complex. Lighten up.

So your almost including the creator of the equipment has to be composed of an idiot also, because I didn’t see you state anything out of that matter. As Melladior said extraterrestrials may judge at a face level of their opponent. They might be so uninterested in the human race they might not even bother.

I was more reacting to the constant claims that if aliens were to show up society would breal down and people wouldn't be able to handle it. I really really didn't intend it for you so sorry bout that. It just seems that most people don't give their own species enough credit. I mean common we totally dominate the planet, we have reached space and as i said in previous posts we could go further in space if we spent the money we spend on weapons on space exploration. Look how quick the atomic bomb was developed from the first mention to completion, something like five years.

But I wonder what we'd do if we found life on another planet. The government probably wouldn't tell us about it anyway, but I think it's safe to imagine we might 'borrow' a couple aliens to see what they were like, then put them back. You know, cause we're ethical. tongue.gif

Actually by not even mentioning the creator of these inventions I'm not including them in anything am I. Our whole history is based on the majority standing on the shoulders of the brilliance of the few. Most of our technologies development is geared to the user friendly concept. You don't have to have an intimate knowledge of the workings of the machines you are using someone just has to give you instruction. thumbsup.gif

Well let me ask yall this. The history of Earth has seen dozens of people try to conquer the world. Now what if Hitler conquered the world back in the forties? Now fast forward 200 years. Hitler's empire is still standing, and now has the ability travel to the other solar systems. Now that empire found another planet that has a alien civilization with abundant resources. You don't think that Hitlers Empire wouldn't fly trillions of miles and conquer that planet? Destroy aliens that where inferior to the Human race?

Now luckily our planet our planet hasn't been conquered by an evil empire, but what if another planet had a Hitler like type? And that Hitler like type actually conquered that planet?
