They all are RPG's, Mario rpg was a turn-based rpg, and the others are
action RPG's, RPG means role playing games, the premise is you play a charater in an adveturous story colleting and completing certian task to the end of the story.

Yes I know what an RPG is, FF, Breath of Fire, Suikoden, Vandal Hearts, Alundra, Legend of Legia, Legend of Kartia, Sectre of Evermore and the rest I've played them all.
I mean I just can't remember Mario being anything more than platform, Go-Cart, and Golf games. They put that guy in anything now.

i always thought of it as action/adventure. For me rpg always brings to mind hit points, turn based fighting and potions

and to be honest i absolutely hate them

no offence

True Mario is in all sorts of genre's. I really hate it when the industry starts making up names though like action adventure, or platformer

Why its an easy way to define things. Final Fantasy for example is nothing like Sonic the Hedgehog. Calling one an RPG and one a Platformer instantly establishes the differences and allows fans of one style of game to easily look for others.

You beat me to it, anyway a good one would be "city of heroes," "everquest," and "matrix online" if they fix the bugs and update the current version, it sucks now but I have faith it will get better.

Ragnarok Online - Out of all the online MMORPG's I've played, this is the most addicitng game I've ever played in my life. It got me hooked for over 2 years. And believe me I've tried them all - Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy series, Runescape, Kingdom hearts, Fable, etc.
Nothing can beat this game in a competition of addictiveness. If you are going to play, I suggest finding a good private server so you don't have to pay for it.

PC RPG's eh?
1. Ragnarok Online
2. Morrowind (Elder Scrolls III)
3. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
I highly agree with Deception up there. Ragnarok Online is the most addictive game I have ever played. I've probaly logged well over 1,000 hours into the game and nothing gets old. I'm also one of those who aimed for the best gear and weapons and made one of each class.

No contest - Morrowind: The Elder Scrolls III. Man, the amount of hourse clocked on that. I like the freedom of this game. You don't have to follow the story if you don't want to. Just do what you feel like. It's awesome.

Fallout 2 was also a great RPG but I didn't finished.. but from what I played I think it was really good and we actually felt role playing.
BTW am I the only one that finds KOTOR utterly boring?!?

My favorite MMORPG is a game little known to people. "Another World". I've been with that game for a long time. Was a member for a while and looking to get membership again but, unfortunately, it's difficult for those in the West to pay the fee. They use webmoney, and we don't have that system here in the States.
Regardless, you can play the game for free and you can find it at
http://www.awplanet.comJust click the RUS/ENG button to translate the site to English and you're set. The client is a quick download.
As for PC or console RPG's.......for me...nothing beats any of the Final Fantasy games.

2. Neverwinter Nights (Got totally hooked on that)
3. Dungeon Seige/DS: Legends of Aranna
4. Diablo 1 and 2(Havent played them in ages)
Can't think of anymore favourites, I can't stand turn based RPG's but the FF series do have good storylines.
