As you know, I am a big Godzilla fan. But most people don't know that there are other Godzilla's beside the one from 1998.
Godzilla's history went back to 1954 in Toho's first real monster movie. Godzilla was whorshiped as a god of destruction, and set fire to the whole of Tokyo. He was killed by the Oxygen Destroyer. An invention that was so powerfull, melted the mighty creature.
In 1955, a creature that was the same as Godzilla, now called Gigantis, was found fighting a four legged dinosaur named, Angilas. Angilas was Toho's second monster, and first monster foe. Angilas and Godzilla destroyed most of Osaka while fighting, and in the end, Godzilla killed the Angilas by ripping out his throat. Godzilla then was trapped under ice by airplaines causeing snow and ice to cover him.
In 1956, Toho went colored! And to bring out the new line of monsters was Rodan! The first winged monster of Toho. Originaly there where two Rodans, the female is Radon, the male is Rodan. The movie plot of this one movie is very touching. The Japan Self Defence Force caused an eruption that the female, Radon, couldn't get out of intime, and the Male, Rodan, didn't have the will to live with out his mate, and he too fell into the molten rock.

I will give a brief summary of the movies to come. Three for each post. I hope you all enjoy what I am doing.

Actually I think everyone knows the Japanese made him and have had movies for him long before the US version in 1998

He's considered a classic monster, even outside Japan, you'd have to have been living under a rock to think 1998 was his first movie. Lets remember almost all his movies except for Final Wars is avaliable to by in the west, and most have also been dubbed.

I have many fond memories of godzilla and his buddies...When I was a kid, I had really bad asthsma and would often be up all hours of the night when I was having an attack. Before the days of cable TV, there were only a few stations and most of them would go off the air at about 2 in the morning and not come back on until 5 in the morning.

There was one channel that would always be on all night long and they almost always ran old monster movies at those odd hours...

I would stay up and watch every godzilla movie and every "B" monster movie ever made, and it always helped to pass the time when I felt bad; it was a bright spot ot an otherwise bad time.

As for the "new" godzilla, it was silly, I was upset when I saw that...

Ok, next three.
The Mysterians in 1957. Featured one monster, Mogerua. First Robot Kaiju. The Mysterians where aliens that dress like powerrangers. They came to earth to steal our women. There where two Mogeruas in this movie, I forgot how they died.
Next, one of my favorets, in 1958.
Varan the unbelievable.
The plot was good, scientist polluted a lake, and awoke Varan. Varan isn't a big city goer. He destroyed a small village, and chased a dude, so he doesn't bring terror to people I guess. He can fly like a flying squirel. He also is one of the many saurian monster. He was killed by Anti-Slaine.
They took a three year break from making movies, but when they came back, the year was 1961, and the fourth most favoret monster came, Mothra. Mothra was a larva, trying to save the two fairies. The larva knocked over a building, Tokyo tower to be exact. And made a cacoon, and then masers where fired at it, makign it hatch into the full grown Mothra. Mothra wasn't killed.
Now. I know you guys think I am a nerd, but too bad. And thanks for mentioning that, man. Now I can rest easyily.

Come my friends, now we enter the "Golden age of Godzilla Movies." The sixties.
Here I will do more than three, but six movie summaries.
Get ready for the masters discription.
In 1962, there are two movies that had great monsters.
King Kong V.s. Godzilla: A classic battle, Kong using eletricity to subdue Godzilla, and both fall into the sea. But Godzilla was merely knocked out. Kong swimming away. Kong was taken from his home on Faro island. And he heads to Skull Island.
Godzilla was awakened from his icy tomb to fight Kong. And now he was trapped underground. It is unknown who the true winner was.
Next film: Gorath.
Gorath featured a good looking monster. Magmaur. The giant walrus. The plot of Gorath was good too. A star that could destroy the earth, the earth builds rockets to escape, and awaken Magmaur. Magmaur is killed, I forget how though....
In 1963 one film came out, staring the Supper Sub, Atragon, who is sent to find the lost coninet of Mu. Mu's God, Manda, who looks like a Chinese Dragon, coils around the sub, and gets electricuted, and frozen to a clif. Manda is still alive, as I will point out in 1968.
1964
Marked three great films. Godzilla v.s. Mothra was the first. Mothra's egg is washed up on a beach, and Godzilla appears from underground (CAN'T GET RID O HIM!?!) And he makes a B line to the egg. Mothra came, does quick battle with Godzilla and gets killed, and egg hatches, two larva crawl out, chase godzilla down, encase him in web, and send him into the ocean.
The same year, one of the Mothra Larva twins dies due to Godzilla's abuse. The other returns home. Now, after a nine year rest and grief, Rodan burst from the ground. He is ticked. But also a meteor lands and causes magnetic waves, and swells. And to top it all off, Godzilla is back. Godzilla and Rodan go to fight each other, while the meteor hatches to become the most coolest looking beast, Ghidrah. And this film is called, Ghidrah the three headed monster. Godzilla and Rodan continue to fight, and the Mothra Larva convinces them to turn to Good Guys. And with combined strength, they send Ghidorah packing.
And then there is Dogora. This film is a weird one, it features alien jellyfish that eat minnerals and get killed by insect venom. Not a very good plot, but great effects. Next post, 1965
Invasion of the Astro Monster
Frankenstien v.s. The Subterainian Monster.

A year after Ghidorah's invasion, Toho brought there villan back. This time, Godzilla and Rodan go to the mysterious planet X to fight him, only to get brianwashed and sent back to destroy Tokyo. The scientis kill the aliens, and the monsters do a short battle, all three of them falling into the ocean. Only Ghidorah surfaced.
That same year, Frankenstiens heart was found, shipped to Tokyo, but went missing. The same year a "wild man" was seen eating small animals. It turned out it was Frankenstien. The monster. I have a theroy on how his body grew back. Godzilla. Nuff said.
Anyways, Frankie continues to grow, at the same time, a burrowing dinosaur named Baragon, with brown wartie skin, a goofy grinn, floppy ears, horn, and one of the only other Earth monsters, besides Godzilla, having a heat beam.
The Baragon faught with Frankenstien, and lost, his neck snapped, but the ground swallowed them both.
In 1966, two more films came out.
A stranded group of men on an island find no escape, with a mammoth lobster, Ebirah, gaurding the waters round the island. There are also nuclear reactors on the island as well. The dictators on the island are called the Red Bamboo. They use Ebirah to keep other people off the island. They also inslave natives of Infant Island, Mothra's home. Soon, the castaways find a cave, and guess who's in it. Thats right, RichardSimmons... I mean Godzilla. They wake Godzilla, who fights Ebirah, destroys the army, fights a random condor, fights Ebirah again, ripping his two claws off, and then does a small battle with Mothra.
Godzilla wasn't originally gonna be in this film, but Kong, but Godzilla attracted more fans.
The next movie, is a sequel to Frankenstiens. A boat of fishers are attacked by a giant octopuss, the same one that tried to eat Kong, and then a green bigfoot burst out of the water, and fights the many limbed foe. When he wins, he eats the crew. And a brown bigfoot is found in the mountains. The JSDF try to kill Gaira, the green one, and he screams calling his brother, Sanda to rescue him. Sanda learns that the green one eats humans, and he was raised by humans, they fight, and get killed in an underwater volcanic erupsion.

In 1967, two movies came out,
First, is the Son Of Godzilla.
Godzilla is seen moving towards and island, where scientist have been trying to control the weather, it goes wrong, and makes native giant preyign manti larger, now known as Kamakuras. They unearth and egg, and out pops Minilla, baby Godzilla, Godzilla saves him, and they find a giant spider, Kumonga.
The weather turns cold, and the spider dies, and Godzilla and Minya are sleeping.
That same year, Kong was found on Skull island, with Gorosaurus and a Giant sea snake, and kong does battle with Mechani-Kong, I don't know much about this movie, so yeah.

I haven't seen any of the Japenese Godzilla but I want to... I'm waiting for them to become available on Region 2 DVD, which I heard would be later this year...

I did actually like GINO (Godzilla In Name Only - A popular name for it in the internet community)... Maybe because I haven't seen any of the originals, I don't know.

The last movie for the "Golden Era."
Destroy All Monsters.
Monsters in it: Godzilla, Rodan, Gorosaurus, Kumonga, Angilas, Baragon, Manda, Mothra, Varan, Minilla, and Ghidorah.
Aliens try to take over earth, monsters stop them, this one you can rent from Blockbusters or something.

Final Wars is his newest one, right? And I don't think people consider the 1998 movie and actual Godzilla movie

Many do actually. GINO is only in the Final Wars movie so Toho can prove Suit is better than CGI.

Sadly, after the year 1968, Godzilla's golden age went down the pooper.
First in 1969(teehee)
And the movie is the worst in Godzilla's history, Godzilla's revenge. Manly all stock footage. A kid dreams up a Friend, Minilla, but he talks, and does battle with Gabara, an orge.
In the 1970, Yog Monster from space, was good, Yog, an essence came to earth, found a host in a giant squid, making it Gezora. It attacks an island called Small island. It is driven back to the sea by flame throwers, and it dies. The yog tries to find another host. This time it finds a lobster, but when it takes over it, and it turns into the rock lobster Ganime. Ganime attacks the same island, and falls into a hole, and it's lined with explosions, killing it, not the yog. Yog gets angery, and takes over two animals, a jungle tortise and another lobster. The two attack together, but bats fly over them, the Yog is weak against sonar. The Jungle Tortise is Kambea. The two monsters fight and fall into a valcano.
In 1971, Godzilla came back with a message to the world. He fought against a smog monster, Hedorah. Hedorah almost kills Godzilla, but after some human help, Hedorah dries up parcly. He flies off. Godzilla thinks, turns and actually flies!
Godzilla later rips the sludge monster appart.
Godzilla and his new friend, Anglias are sleeping on Monster Island. Soon, Ghidorah comes back with a cyborg like monster, Gigan, and the two monsters scare them off.

Ok.
The next three films are ok.
Godzilla v.s. Megalon.
Gigan and a giant roach named Megalon, try to kill a robot JetJaguar, Godzilla saves him.
Godzilla was so powerfull, aliens made a double of him. Anguirus came back, and fought the clone, lost, crawling away. Godzilla finds his enemy, and looses! OMFG! MechaGodzilla fights a gaurdian, King Ceasar, and Godzilla helps, and blows the Robot up.
MechaGodzilla is rebuilt, and comes with another Dinosaur, Titanosaurus, to fight Godzilla, they loose.
The after a few years, they bring Big G back, not as a hero, a sequel to the first.
Godzilla attacks tokyo and is lead to a valcano and dropped in. More later.

Ever since Godzilla's attack on Japan in 1985, a scientist finds some Godzilla cells. Soon, his daughter dies. Terroist come, stealing the cells, only to be killed in an explosion, and a giant plant is found. A rose. They combined the rose, dna from the daughter, and G-cells. Making Biolantte. Godzilla burst form the volcano. Godzilla fights his sister, and he wins. Soon, he tries to kill the JSDF, and Biolantte comes back, more mutated, and defeats him.
In 1991, Godzilla is back, but asleep. Aliens come from the future. They have a mission, kill Godzilla before he is made. So they travel back to WWII
The find Godzillasaurus, and they teleport it to modern Japan. But before they leave, they find out three Dorats where left behind. Then the bomb hit, making the dorats into one monster. King Ghidorah. Godzilla is remade and fights the monster, killing it. Soon, MechaKingGhidorah comes and fights Godzilla, both fall into the sea.

Godzilla rocks, end of story

The next movie, Mothra was once agian re-hatched, and does a quick battle with Godzilla, but then, out of no where, Battra, the evil mothra, attacks Mothra with prism beams, acidently hitting Big G. Soon, Big G and Battra are duking it out, and take it under water. They get sucked up by a volcano. But Mothra is summoned to save the twin fairies (AGAIN!) and turns into adult Mothra, and Battra returns as, Battra adult. They do a quick dog fight, and then, a blue beam hits them both. Big G is also back. They fight, Battra and Mothra joining forces. They carry Godzilla out to the ocean, and drop him, but after Godzilla killed Battra.
The next movie, an egg is found and is taken from a nest. Rodan swoops down on the egg thieves, and lands on a rock. Soon, a beam hits the rock, Godzilla and Rodan fight for the egg. But they forget that Humans took it. So Godzilla KO's rodan, and wades off into the water.
When Godzilla reaches shore, the egg hatches, and it's a baby godzilla saurus. Godzilla wants the baby, and fights MechaGodzilla for it. Rodan who was knocked out, becomes fire rodan to steal the baby, and MechaGodzilla fights him. Rodan looses, and Godzilla comes, and almost dies. Baby Godzilla screams awaken rodan, and he gives his energy to Godzilla, fighting SuperMechaGodzilla, and destroys it.

The next movie is a space monster that lands on earth, looking like Godzilla, hence it's name, Space Godzilla. The robot Mogerua is back, and so is baby godzilla now known as Little Godzilla. Godzilla kills his space brother and asorbs to much radiation, and soon becomes Burning Godzilla. Little Godzilla turns into Godzilla Jr. And the Oxygen Destroyer turns into a monster. Destroyah. Godzilla kills it, after it kills G jr. And Big G melts.
Jr is seen in the background, new and improved, as Godzilla that appears in 2000. He fights a space monster, Orga, a giant dragon fly, Megagaurius, and then his dad, Godzilla, comes back, possesed by the spirits of world war 1. Baragon, Mothra, and Ghidorah try to stop him, but fail, but Godzilla does blow up, leaving his still beating heart at the bottom of Tokyo bay. The next movie marks to return of MechaGodzilla/Kiryuu. Godzilla and Kiryuu fight, and both are badly damaged or hurt. Kiryuu gets repaired, just in time, a Kambea washes up dead on the shore of Tokyo. Godzilla comes back, and so does Mothra, Mothra dies, and leaves two larva to save it. This mothra is the same one that is known as Leo. He fought DesGhidorah, Dagarla, and Grand King Ghidorah. Anyways, Godzilla is dropped into the ocean.
The next movie has almost everyone in it. Ebirah, Kamakurus, Kumonga, Minya, Godzilla, Rodan, Anguirus, Ghidorah, Hedorah, Gigan, King Ceasar, and Mothra. I haven't seen this movie yet.

Unknown to many, but Godzilla had lead the lead for other monsters.
Gamera, Gappa, Guilla, Reptilicus, Gorgo, Gwanji, Yongary, Zarrkor, and others.

Manda is included into Final Wars.

Indeed Gigan was badass. But they didn't give him his weapon. His eye lazer. I have pics of most monsters now. I will post the one of the new gigan.

Gigan is the bomb, yo. And Biollante is one of my favorite Godzilla movies.

I have both Godzilla vs. Megalon and Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster. They're pretty corny, I still love them though.
