Full Version: The Second Coming of Christ?
Unexplained Mysteries Discussion Forums > Unexplained Mysteries > Spirituality vs Skepticism
Mr Slayer
Is it going to happen?
When will it happen? Where?
Can we link it to Mayan prophecies (2012), Egyptian prophecies or other?

And if the three grand religions are so interconnected (sharing the same God, branching off each other etc) how come only the Christians have this event?
We don't hear a Second Coming of e.g Muhammed?

Most important:
If it doesn't happen, what then?
Will the Christians around the world shove the event further into the future or...?

i think im the only one here to think that the second coming of Christ is a past event, so ill answer in the past tense.
when and where did it happen? 70 during the destruction of Jerusalem.

I'm sure you're not the only one. Indeed there is ample evidence to suggest so. I personally do not think so from my understanding of scripture, but the possibility is there. I guess I'll find out when I die.

You should get a copy of D.B. Knox's Selected Works, volume 1: The Doctrine of God. I don't know if it's available outside Australia, but if it is, I can guarantee the read will challenge and stimulate your thinking (it did for me, which is very hard to do). There's a section in there on the return/s of Christ - you'd find it interesting.

Anyway, personally, I believe we are living in the end times now. The end times started approximately AD 33 with the death of Jesus christ. No one can know when he will return (the whole thief in the night shindig). But perhaps we can install a burglar alarm to alert us. "Keep watch", we are told. Be vigilant. He may come today, tomorrow, next week, next year, next millenium. We just don't know. But we've gotta be ready when that time comes.

That aside, there is no second coming of Mohamed because to the Moslem's, Mohamed was Allah's prophet, but just a man. To Christians, Jesus is divine; in a word, God.

What will happen after? The world will end, my friend. God's eternal kingdom will be established and we will be spiritual entities no longer trapped within the confines of this human shell.

At least this is my belief.

All the best,
TaintedDoughnuts

That whole Mayan thing is dumb. That's when their calendar ends, not the world tongue.gif it's like when your calendar on the wall is about to expire, does that mean the world will end? No, it just means you need a new calendar original.gif
Anyways, the three grand religions? Islam, Christianity, and something? O.o

Lastly, we don't know when Christ's second coming is... well, coming grin2.gif. If we did, then atheists could easily live their lives sinful, but then five minutes before it happens, convert. BTW, 50 years ago, they thought the Second Coming was coming soon. original.gif

Have you read a Koran or any Vedic Texts? Or any Native American prophecies? You don't hear about any other End of the World scenario(s) probably because you live in a Christian dominant society?

Nobody knows.

Where?

It will effect the entire earth. However, it will be centralized in the middle east and surrounding countries.

Probably because there isnt suppose to be a "second comming of Muhammud".

However, the Jews believe in the end times, and well as Muslims.

I might suggest you pick up a book on explaining the story of Revelation. You don't have to believe it, but it will answer some of your questions, and it will be quite interesting.

From what I hear from my Catholic friends "Were all going to die"... (Don't know where they got that from)

Yeah, me neither.

However, there will be much death during these times.

Were all going to die? crying.gif it must have taken the worlds most intellectual religious scholar to work that one out, I thought I was going to live forever.

The second coming of Jesus...... Hmmmm the last time he came and tried to teach love and tolerance, he was tortured and murdered by a bunch of nasty, angry, prejudiced bastards. Today so much anger, prejudiced and nasty things are done in his good name by a bunch of egotistical bastards, I think its safe to say he is not coming back, and I do not blame him. But I am sure he sends his love and thoughts to the world in abundance.

All the best

I've always considored the idea that the second coming May already have occurred without us realising. Of course, then you could ask “If Christ did come again we would surely know about it.”
