This thread may be devoted to anything tennis related. cool.gif

As Wimbledon started yesterday and I had court 1 tickets happy.gif I thought I’d start off with a few pics and the low-down of the day.

We arrived in perfect time for the first match, Hewitt vs C. Rochus; but as you’d expect for the first week, all the matches were all a bit one-sided. Mauresmo was on second, so we decided to go for a stroll around the other outside courts where we saw a bit of Taylor Dent, as well as Gonzalez taking apart one of our Brits, Alan Mackin, one of many who fell on the first day!

Court one ended with Ferrero defeating another British hopeful Jamie Delgardo, who having failed to take advantage of 2 set points, conceded the first set in a tie break, and the match in straight sets. tongue.gif

Wimbledon is a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone who is able to get there without too much hassle. For show court tickets at £30 or ground passes for £15, you’re probably looking at £50 for a quality day out. thumbsup.gif

On the subject of money, I actually purchased the most expensive pint ever yesterday; a pint of Pimms was selling at the rip-off price of £8!! blink.gif I didn’t dare go for the strawberries after that! rofl.gif

Hope everyone will be following the tournie for the next 2 weeks!

Pics:

the first is Hewitt crunching down a serve;
Second is Gozalez on court 3
Third os Ferrero chasing after Delgardo’s drop shot.
Last one is Ferrero hitting his drive forehand volley, clipping the net and Delgardo not having a hope in hell of getting it back. tongue.gif

was Nadal in Wimbledon this year or no and why did Agassi pull out?

I don't enjoy watching so much as playing. I have five tennis rackets and love to play. There is a really nice court right by my house.

A good game is very enjoyable to watch.... a one sided one not so good. Unless its federer.... He is a master in most matches he plays.....

I havent kept up with tennis lately, but I enjoy watching... I expect federer in the final..... Not sure who wil be on the other side of the draw though...
Tommy
Agassi didn’t enter because he’s injured again, I think it might be his back or neck? I feel bad for him really, he pulled out last year too because of injury, maybe it’s time to pack it in for good? hmm.gif

As for Nadal he’s through to the second round and he’s playing today, but honestly I can’t see him getting much further. These continental players are much better on clay then a faster surface like grass, but we’ll see.

Yeh Subby I can see Federer getting to the final. His draw doesn’t look too bad until he reaches Hewitt or maybe Safin who’s playing some amazing tennis at the moment! As for who he’ll be playing against, perhaps Grosjean or maybe even Tim, tongue.gif but more than likely it will be Roddick serving his way there.

lol...Well he wont have to play Nadal, who ust got beaten.... Nor will he play Tim.

Hewitt vs Federer if Hewitt plays at his best would be good to watch, as would Safin vs Federer or Safin vs Hewitt.

lets get some support for Andy Murray

Well, now the match of Hewitt vs Federer is a reality. I can't wait, as Lleyton appears to be in good form, so hopefully he can take it up to Roger.
