I've never been sensitive to this stuff although I am a beleiver. Over the years, I have looked over a way of becoming more sensitive in a futile attempt.
There are no magical formula for this although I heard that if you stay in a haunted place (or just in a haunted area) for a long time, you can slowly begin to get a glimpse of the unknown and start to feel stuff.
Ya sure I said... but you know, since I moved to my mom's house last christmas I've began to see/feel weird things here in my basement especially (my bedroom is also there). My sister who's been here for years often see weird things too (although she is somehow a little more sensitive than I).
Things I saw/see:
- Sometimes I'll catch invisible movement out of the corner of my eyes
- I'll get weird feelings like beeing watched
- I'll get chills for no reason
- I'll feel cold drafts that give me goosbumps
- I've seen a kind of morphing orb/fireball in my room as well as a swirl of smoke/mist
Sometimes these feelings will randomly come (not necessarly when I think about it or anything) and go as randomly...
My sis:
- She already saw a shadow leaning over her bed
- She felt a weight on her bed like if someone sat
- In the basement, she sometimes see someone for a second in our huge mirror
- She feels cold drafts too
Other:
- A girl I know who is 18 and very sensitive came once in the basement here. Minutes after we hear a scream. We asked her what was going on and she said our basement is haunted for sure and that it creeps her out...
I dunno what to say about all this. Maby we ALL immagine things but that'd be hell of a coincidence. On another note, I don't feel threatned nor does my sister.
What do you all think? Feel free to ask more questions if you think it could help solving this enigma... It's kinda creepy and exciting at the same time.
Thank you, I love you all.

If you talk about my avatar, I can't see any redness in my eyes.
And what does it have to do with my subject? It's not as if I was on LSD or shrooms everyday (I don't do these drugs anyways).

Its sounds as if you are sincere so here goes a few thoughts, how old is the house and how many people have lived there before your family, did anyone ever die in the house if so what was the reason -ie.-sick,killed,accident there are many reasons a spirit does not move on, the shadow you see out the coner of your eye is probley a ghost;but it could also be engery its hard to say, what makes me wonder the most would be the fact you want to be more open and that itself could make your mind play tricks on you;but if your sister feels the spirit too, then maybe you should do some checking on the house's history! if the house is very old find out if someone is buried on the proptery you said your bedroom was in the basement, but where does your sister sleep is her room over yours do you feel or see thinks any where else in the house, cold spots, shadows, mist, are most often the sing of a ghost,so i hope you let us know what you find out good luck

I would say it is too...staying in a haunted area is supposed to make you more sensitive to the paranormal? I gotta find me a haunted house, then...

You've have a lot of experiences that add onto your house being haunted. I have to agree there's something strange happening.

i suggest you take isis-999's advice. Find out the history of the house, what was there before, if anyone ever died there, etc. If you find things becoming too out-of-the-ordinary, then you may want to hire a professional paranormal investigator. Your house sounds like there definately is something strange going on.

JayMark -- I'm curious, what time you saw the most of ghosts or strange feelings around you? I mean usually ghosts or spirits always come out after midnight or so. It has happened to me and my family often at that time.

Hi JayMark.
Out of the experiences you referred to, only these two have potential:
QUOTE
- Sometimes I'll catch invisible movement out of the corner of my eyes
- I've seen a kind of morphing orb/fireball in my room as well as a swirl of smoke/mist
You say invisible, but if you see it, you must be seeing something. Do you see shapes or colours or ripples in the air? Please describe a bit more.
The orb/fireball is very interesting as is the smoke/mist. Both could be stages of spirit manifestation provided you discount any possible earthy explanation.
Have you ever tried communicating with it? I don't mean ouija boards or anything other than speaking aloud directly to it whenever it manifests. Sometimes this is the easiest way of getting results.
The experiences of your sister seem to be a bit more personal to her, although not necessarily threatening as such. She too should try speaking to it.
JayMark

I'll try to anwser to the best of my capacities.
The time when I see most strange stuff is at night. When I saw the orb thing and swirl of mist it was around 2:30AM-3:00AM.
As for the invisible movement, well it's hard to explain. I'll just catch something moving out of the corner of my eyes but see nothing when I turn. It's like a shadow or just something hazy, I can't really see it. But it does catch my attention.
All those weird things happened since I moved here. When I lived with my father, I never saw/felt anything similar (the house wasen't haunted to my beleif).
I'va talked to it (spirit) but not necessarly when something weird happened. I really don't know if it heard me. I don't really mind since there dosen't seem to have any threath anyways. Also, maby there's more than one, I dunno...
I also get weird feelings at night but this could be in my head. I'll try to take some pics with my digi cam soon to see if I can get anything. I'll try at night when the feelings and weird things are happening the most.
I should also try to find the history of the house but it will take some time (I don't have much time and resources for that).
Thanks for the insight. At first I thought it'd be nice to live in a haunted house and become sensitive but now... it's more tricky. Well, it's kinda spooky and exciting at the same time you know...

Why cant the Time be 2:30-3:00 "pm". I have noticed its always at night. Rest and you wont see things at night.

Well probably something is going on...I doubt it's sleep paralysis or somtin like that cos you said before nothing strange was happening. If you took some pictures that'd be really helpful; you usually catch quite alot of 'action' in a photo than you wouldn't with your own eyes.

By all means look in to the history of the home, but don't forget that spirits may all so be Family Members who have passed on. They would not of necessity have to had died in This Home, but stop in to see how your Family is doing. Spirits that watch over you even show up in the car, if you need them. Or so I have observed.

My grandfather died almost two years ago. He was in hospital and died a little faster than we expected. We didn't have a chance to say good bye. The nurse was the only one present with a doctor. I'm living with my mom and it was her father.
Interesting.

hello everyone, Well i am new to this site but i am a big fan of shows about paranormal activites and such. But JayMark i have maybe some more advice.. For the whole paranormal investigator, it always helps to talk with people in your town.. I don't mean mention it to everyone about what things are happening, but maybe talk to a priest of your church, see if he knows of people around your area.. Maybe even try and get a hold of the talk show's and such.. maybe they might have clues to where to go... And 1 comment... If you don't have much time to do research.. Well i would say you do if you are on here typing to the forum's i would be taking the time to research about the house and information..

If it was me.. I would for sure, take it into consideration about checking with the priest first..to see what he thinks.. Even bring your sister.. and friend.. so it doesn't look like your kidding.. Make a proposition with him.. let him know that your not joking.. But you never know what would happen.

That's interesting. It always happened over here around at that time. Mostly it was around 2:30 through 3:30 AM. I am not surprised. About three months ago I saw the reddish orange, egg-shaped orb appeared in about 5 or 6 feet away front of me. I could not move either my younger sister. It only lasted about 25 - 30 seconds. My eyes were wet after it disappeared in a thin air. It looked like a fierce eye from the Lord of the Rings, but not exactly like it. It contained only the iris, no eyeball around it. When I saw it, I could not directly look at it. I've tried to look at it but it was too late. It has frozen me and my younger sis. My younger sis saw the light red around me like a spotlight; she was sitting across of me in the living room. It was near the fireplace and my dad believed it came through the chimney and he showed me the latch that closes whatever you call it, that the chimney was not fully closed. O_O
I hope one day you'd captured it in the film, JayMark. Good luck.

Yeah Tedez84. My family have always blessed the house before we moved in. Just to be sure it won't harm us.

Hey, JayMark, look thats good advice also but if its a matter of time here is something you can do, go to the local deed of records find out who own the house before your family, takes those name cross ref them with death records all in the same office or at lest same building, if you do not find a match ask the person your family bought house from if they ever seen anything, or neighbors if they ever heard any stories about house, or better yet ask your mom, you may be surprised what she knows

Okay.
Sorry but I don't beleive in religion. I beleive in God but not in christianism. I don't like theire vision of the men/woman relation and God/mankind relation as well. So seeing a priest would be pointless. I don't want to hear about sins, Satan, confession, exorcisms and such. Forget about making a proposition to him... he could think about something nasty let alone any example...
Oh and it dosen't take much time to come here and post a few things compared to going to the local deed record (witch I don't know where it is and I live in a big city) and searching throught owners, deaths, causes of deaths and what not... I'm not saying I'll never have time, just that for this period I prefer to take what little free time I have to relax (been throught very intese emmotionnal things lately witch could also relate to my sightings as well since such a state tends to attract things sometimes).
Anyways thanks for the advise, you propose what seems right to you and that's the way to go in life.
Thanks for every other inputs as well.

Weirdness is still going those days.
Two days ago I was in the basement with my sis. We were both at our computer (both have one) and suddenly, I got a weird feeling as if something was looking at me or just moving in here. I also got a chill down my spine and felt a cold draft. I looked around (saw nothing of course), then at my sis and noticed she was also looking around her with a puzzled look on her face although she didn't know I had felt something at the same time (she can't see me unless she turns around completely witch she didn't).
Weird huh? That same night I saw things I can describe as beeing kinda small mist/smoke trails that would appear as if a small insect flew before me leaving a small trail for a second (smoke/mist trail).
I might just be going crazy... I dunno.
I feel less and less scared over time and less paranoid but the weirdness didn't diminish or anything of the matter so I'm slowly putting away the whole "it's in your head" explaination (well, a big part of it).

While checking the history of the house is one thing, your home may also be 'attracting' wandering spirits. I have a friend who lives in an apartment and for the last eight years she's lived there, there have been three separate 'disturbances', all by different beings.
A distinct incident that she complained to me about turned out to be a family of three spirits that sort of resided in a Hallowe'en decoration [a plastic cauldron and pitchfork] that her husband had left in a corner. One of them spirits, a little boy, had repeatedly tried to stroke/play with her rabbit, causing it to go frequently beserk. They were sent packing by her husband's religious master [they're Moslem] via prayer and a house cleansing. Another time it was a tall dark entity that only the religious master could see, but which both my friend and her husband could only sense. That one was sent packing too.
My point is that sometimes these beings can be wanderers and not from the locale itself. If they find somewhere they find condusive, they'll shack up and make themselves comfortable. Much to the expense of everyone else

and sometime, when they feel like it, they'll leave.

It strikes me that your parents are divorced, and ever since moving into your mom's house, you have been under subconscious stress.
To say stress causes "negative energy which attracts spirits" is just a fancy way of saying stress can sometimes make your imagination go wild.
But I don't know about your sister's situation. I take it she's been living there much longer than you?
All I know is this:
If you want to see ghosts or whatever, you will. I know if I was spending the night at a supposedly haunted place, I would be scared shitless. I'd see weird stuff everywhere. You get the idea in your head, and it will express itself.

My parents have been divorced since 11 years so I didn't move there because of that. I moved there because very troubling/stressfull events happened to me while I was at my father's. I didn't really imply that stress attract spirits but I mentionned it because it's an actual theory (and in a case like that, you want to point them all).
My sister have been living here for a longer time and saw things as well although when she first did, she had no interest in the paranormal. It happened that's all and still happens so she lives with it.
And as for your "if you want to see it you will" theory, it's pretty true but not in my case (as far as I know). I regularly go in a haunted house and have yet to experience/feel/see anything (actually I am pertty much the only one who never did). I saw peculiar things but nothing really paranormal. If you get literally freaked out, that's when you'll see stuff but as for myself, I rarely get scared especially nowdays (as opposed to when I was a kid). Also, when I saw weird things in my house, it wasen't at a moment when I thought about ghsots (far from that actually) nor was scared. It happened randomly and only a couple times. Never saw anything in the manor as well although this place DOES spook me off a little bit...
Maby it's all in my head though...

Honestly, most of that sounds more like an active imagination than a visit from spirits. We all want life to be mysterious and exciting, and we don't want to think that death is the end. So sometimes we see and hear and remember what we wish we'd see/hear/remember.

No... not really...
I mean, I have always been interested in paranormal and it's only since I moved here that I began to notice weird things. Also, those things happen at totoally random moments and most of the time not even when I think about ghosts or paranormal. Also, when I moved here, it was becasue I was living very stressfull and bad times so I was far from thinking about the paranormal (had enough problems like that).
Life is already mysterious and exciting enough for me, I don't need my house to be haunted or such, plus, I'm not afraid of death one bit. I could get hit by a car tomorrow it dosen't matter because I feel at peace and enjoy my life as it is.
Also, it can't be excessive fear and paranoia because I don't fear ghosts. Even those weird events that happen here sometime don't scare me but rather make me feel curious.
Maby I'm totoally off and you're right but I know myself and I know for sure it wouldn't be as simple. Also, my sister experiences weird things here as well but never did at any other place such as my dad's house (neither did I). Talk about a coincidence. You don't need to beleive me.

Ok. Been a while since my last post but some new stuff happened, please read the following.
Lately (well, since this summer), I've kinda stopped thinking my house is haunted. I concluded it was prehaps my overactive immagination (despite the fact that my sis also experienced things) and even got to the point I didn't beleive in ghosts much more.
Then, a couple days ago, I was in my bed reading, far from thinking about ghosts or whatever paranormal thing and weird things happened.
First, I head what sounded like whispers. Ok. Where is that from? I look outside, it's dark, cold and rainy as hell. Nobody of course is outside near my room window and anyways it was tightly shut so simple whispers couldn't get throught.
Nobody was awake at the time and even when they are, I can't hear them speaking as my room is in a corner of the basement, far from where my parents hang. Nobody was awake like I said so of course, nobody was near my room (I checked that).
Then, minutes after as I tried to convince me it was in my head I began to hear what sounded like someone walking on a carpet. Nothing really exciting but then I realised only my own room had a carpeted floor. I listened and could make it out even though it was pretty faint.
Oooook. Now what the hell is wrong with me? Am I going crazy? Probably. I continued reading not thinking about it when I suddenly felt something I couldn't have immagined. I felt a pressure on me like if someone had just pulled my covers down toward the floor (you get the picture, cover leaning on side of the bed getting pulled down). I looked on the side of the bed to see if it was my cat but nope, nothing.
I was now starting to feel uneasy. I could deffinatly tell something was wrong. I could feel something there. Maby it was just the stress but it's as if something really wanted to be noticed and although I tried to dismiss it my brain wasen't thinking the same.
Well, I then pulled the covers all on my bed around me so they don't hang and guess what? I felt another pressure on my legs as if someone put his hands on them for a moment. I didn't immagine or dream this, I was FULLY awake.
Now I was getting scared. The idea of beeing with a spirit dosen't scare me much but something in the air was just heavy and deffinatly got to me. Whether I wanted it or not, I didn't feel comfortable. I felt watched, observer and deffinatly not alone.
So what should I think of all this? I was starting to not beleive in ghosts but it all made me reconsider the question. Sounds can be in my head but feeling a pressure not once but twice is too much. Can't be an hallucination.
So, any comments? No, I wasen't on drugs and I swear to God I didn't make it, take it or leave it.
