I was reading this article where it stated that 60% of people can tell when someone is staring at them, they can feel when their being stared or watched, I personally can't but how can you tell when theres no sound or anything, right when 2 pairs of eyes watch you, you get this feeling and when you turn around there is someone there, I had many inncidents where I was staring at friends and they would look back telling me they felt me stared at them. Any thoughts on this?, i find this quite interesting.

The 'intuitive' sense is a recognized phenomena, although there isn't any reason as yet to consider it paranormal. Current theory is that it is derived from the normal senses, except far more acute than normal.

I suddenly got a feeliong of Deja Vu.. tongue.gif
Seriously though, I'm not sure if this is really a sixth sense. We do have peripheral vision, although we don't always use it consciously, because we don't need to, for the most part..Were someone staring at you, however, your mind might do it's best to make you aware you were being focused on..

This may sound stupid but who cares?! I reckon everyone has a sixth sense inside them somewhere but they just haven't found it yet

And with the dejavu I always get that. But my reason is because I'm on tablets blush.gif and the side effect is dejavu blink.gif

One interesting effect of peripheral vision in out of body experiences is the occasional 360' vision people get there.
By focusing on both fingers with arms held out to the side, and then gradually imagining you're extending your vision further round some people can extend their peripheral vision while awake. Worth a try and of course improves with practice, try it a few minutes at a time.

i have experienced this on many occasions, mostly at college, and at home. Most occasions its in the canteen, i now go in there late when no one is hardly there but when i use to i would always get the feeling of being watched and would look and there is some one staring, mostly girls. I have this in the classroom too, I would know who is watching me and from what direction and also if the teacher/ lecturer is standing behind me when I'm working with out knowing i would know (its hard to describe). I don't mind them staring (its a good thing happy.gif grin2.gif ) but the feeling when they are watching is extremely uncomfortable and i have to leave because of it being that intense. it ain't the only occasions when i get it though. if any others experience this they will understand. The other time i have the feeling is when ghosts are about but also with some emotions but most of the time static or something like that.

i believe that every one has 6 or more senses but its just focusing on how to use it, some may be dormant or inactive. Perhaps parts of the brain working at one time as only parts work at certain times in my opinion.

i have quite a few others but will post about them when some one has one which is similar or teh same

Well Sirec, I know just how you feel.. It's very interesting at times, or it could be funny. But most of all it can also make you feel very very uncomfortable. I get them most of the time.. Like Deja Vu, the 6th sense of telling when i am being watched. Or just persay finishing people's sentences. I can usually tell how a person is just by looking at them. It scares me a bit. But it's a gift.. And not alot of people use the gift, Or even know they have one. But my whole thing i think is funny is.. I have a step sister and we grew up together well somewhat.. But she of course isn't blood or nothing. But we sat in the house one day and everything was quiet.. And she just went to say something and i came out and said it first. It was weird.. Or i will have the same thoughts as her. it's like the saying " Great Minds Think Alike, Only Fools Think Different." Which is kind of funny at times, but most of the time it's kind freaky. Unless it's all about people who are on the same level of thinking??? huh.gif I don't know. But I don't get it alot, It's only here and there.. It's not all the time. happy.gif

I ALWAYS get that. Not always accurate though wink2.gif

I'll be on the couch, and feel someone behind me, and start talking, and I'll turn around, and no ones there.

Usually I'm dead on though!

Whenever someone is staring at me from behind, I get this strange sensation on my right shoulder -- almost like someone is lightly pressing against the blade, through several layers of clothing. If it's from the side, I'll get that sensation on my left or right ear, depending on which direction I'm being watched from.

Is this the same for anyone else, or do the sensations differ for you?

(Also, hopefully this serves to at least partially answer the OPs question regarding how we know.)
