Ok, so maybe this show isn't exactly paranormal, but I'm fair obsessed with it.

The UK version starts on MTV this Sunday and is presented by one of my least favourite human beings - Tim Westwood.

I really hope it's good, but I fear that it will suck ass because:

-The presenter is an arse (Bruce Forsyth would be my choice! )
-The way that us Brits really are more reserved than Americans, so we won't get those 'crazy' reactions etc.
-It will just be full of scallies wanting their cars 'maxed' (Deathbot shudders)
- It will be raining.

I think it's a great idea. If us Americans have to suffer through a horrible show like Pimp My Ride, then so should the British!

I've always wondered if someone went and paid $50 at a junkyard for the crappiest car they could find, write some pitiful sob story to the show's producers and by chance get picked.....
BTW.....I'd rather drive a sh*t mobile than have some of that stuff done to my car....

Dang yours are going to suck. If ours sucks then your are going to be horrible I can't stand that show anymore so annoying! They put things in their cars that are not needed! Who needs a popcorn machine in their car?

Do people in the UK have a similar obsession with cars as the people of the US? Trippin out cars happens to be a huge hobby for some of my friends. They love that show.

Girty you obviously have never met a 'boy racer'! lol! My brother spent an absolute FORTUNE on modifying his car when he first passed his test, lowering it, blacked out windows, blacked out lights, MASSIVE sound system - i'm so glad he eventually grew up

The show is so fake!

This is the main part that bothers me: When the host brings the persons car into the shop all of the workers flip out at the sight of the cars condition. What were they expecting?! The whole point of the show is to bring in crappy cars and have them be fixed to look like new, they act like they would never expect that he (the host) would bring in a beat up car!
Watch for it and you'll see what I mean, it's absolutley annoying.

The cars don't even look that good most of the time once they've "pimped" them...

I mean I saw part of once episode where they "pimped" some girls old car up and it was this nasty bright pink and she was like screaming and jumping for joy... I was like "Yeah whatever, you have to drive around in a bright pink piece of crap now"...

And watc, they're be some crappy spin-off or crappy ch.5 cash in like "Pimp My Room" or something

Nooooo...who wants to waste 20+ minutes watching somebodies car get modded, eg 'pimped'

you guys dont understand the show

1st off you have to be a colledge student to even think about entering

but now,

imagine you had a car with the mirrors duct taped on
no bumpers
doors that dont open
sun roofs that dont close
missing body peices
ripped up seats
etc etc

you would jump for joy too if they fixed all of that for you while painting it pink with lime green polka-dots

the show is also called "pimp" my ride, not "fix" my ride, or "make my ride look clean", pimps are known for outlandish colors and odd clothes, thats why the cars are painted in that respect

now as for the WCC crew acting surprised each and every time X brings in a new car for them to fix-up, that is not fake - every week, month or how ever frequent they bring the cars in for the show, is no match compared to how many "real" cars they work on, the beaters that x brings into the garage are still a rare occurance for the WCC crew, not to mention they are all different, each f'd up ride X brings them always has something new wrong with it...its a new expierience for them

No I wouldn't... Well actually I would because I'd be able to sell it on and make a fortune. I'd jump for joy if they fixed the car and restored it to how it should look.. I mean they had a Mustang on once and totally crapped all over it...



Yeah and none of the entrants are actual pimps, so they're just gonna look dumb 'cruising' around in a 'pimped out ride'...

But if your into it then fair do's... Personally I find it all a bit 'pfft, whatever'... It's that whole bling bling culture, like having tonnes of jewerly makes your more of a man or something It's all rather shallow actually.

I can see where some of you are coming from, but personally, I'm really into cars, so I think Pimp My Ride is great. Yeah, some parts of the show aare obviously scripted and prepared for the show, and some of the stuff that's put into the cars is excessive, such as the popcorn maker or table tennis table, but as mentioned in one of the above posts, the show is all about going over the top. It isn't called 'Make My Ride Normal'

Each car is modified to the particular person's interests, and even though WCC use the same basic equipment each time, they're re-designing a car for the individual.



I agree with you, and I too hate the bling bling crap, but I think the show is fun and I just think that helping deserving people to attain something that they wouldn't be able to otherwise because of money etc makes the show good.

I guess when you look at it that way it's alright and good of them but you know it's just all over the top... like I say, I would much rather just have the car restored and all nice looking, maybe have a new sound system and that would be a nice car... All the sub-woofers and blah blah blha they add is pointless and over the top... I mean, where do they put the groceries or any luggage they might have if they go away for the weekend? lol

I don't know about you guys, but I like the show . Sometimes I don't like the end result, but I like to get blown away by how much they can do in such little time. The car is unique, and when they finish, it really looks like some other thugs will want to go Grand Theft Auto .

Seriously though, I like the show, but I don't want a car that luxurious.

I`m not really a car person, but I always enjoyed watching pimp my ride on MTV, I just loved watching the cars being transformed!

Remember its called PIMP MY RIDE aka PIMPMOBILES. Not make my car a fine tuned sleek looking car. The show does just that, makes ugly pimpmobiles. I think it's a great show just because of the cheeseball reactions (they tape about 5 of them to get it good).

When they put the term, 'PIMP My Ride', I believe they would refer to make the car as if it was owned by a pimp, a.k.a. rich person who gets his money from prostitution.

And a PIMPMOBILE would be a fined-tuned-sleek car, depending on your taste.

Somewhere in that thread they talk about the guy on the show...he also made another thread on that forum about his time on the show, etc. You cant sell the car for a certain period of time and they tape the reactions multiple times to get it down pat. Thats why everything looks so co-erced on the show.

Pimpmobile goes back to the 70's pimps who had really flamboyant color schemes and customizations done to their cars...Not a fine tuned sleek car as you might think of today.
