I think you are talking about the succubus.
I never knew Banshees only screamed in 5 families, I thought it was just for everyone that if you heard it someone in your family would die. Tells you what I know

First of all you are correct Banshees are not the same as succubus, he is mistaken, and yes the legend say's there are only five irish familys the Banshees cry's for, i checked with my mom and she said these were the first familys of the land and thus held magic power that was connected to the land. i guess like the pot of gold, moms old so sometime you have to read between the lines,

That would be a succubus,- a spirit that calls on men for sex, then they drive you insane, they are evil spirits, or demons, Banshee's cry for the five familys of irland,

I thought those were the sirens of greek legend?
Also, please stop posting in all caps, its considered yelling and is rather annoying on forums. Just a suggestion from your friendly forum Jayman.

As to what i've heard, they are *NOT* malicious, contrary to popular belief, also they're related to the Irish Washerwoman, the one that washes the blood-stained clothes from the person that dies, at a lake. Furthermore, if you hear singing isn't it about illness? And crying about death? Also, if you get to capture her, she has to reveal the name of the unlucky victim. Mind you she is not evil, she is just a messenger of death. Actually, she is benevolent, because she warns people to spend some quality time with their relatives, while they still can

The banshee , from ban (bean), a woman, and shee ( sidhe, a fairie), is an attendant fairy that follows the old families, and none but them, and wails before a death. Many have seen her as she goes wailing and clapping her hands. The keen (caoine), the funeral cry of the pesantry, is said to be an imitation of her cry. When more than one banshee is present, and they wail and sing in chorus, it is for the death of some holy or great one. An omen that sometimes accompanies the banshee is the _coach-a-bower_ (coiste-bodhar), an immense black coach, mounted by a coffin, and drawn by headless horses driven by a _Dullahan_. It will go rumbling to your door, and if you open it, according to Croker, a basin of blood will be thrown in your face. These headless phantoms are found elsewhere than in Ireland.
In 1807 two of the sentries stationed outside St. James's Park died of fright. A headless woman the upper part of her body naked, used to pass at midnight and scale the railings. After a time the sentries were stationed no longer at the haunted spot. In Norway the heads of corpses were cut off to make their ghosts feeble. Thus came into existence the _Dullahans_, perhaps ; unless, indeed, they are descended from that Irish giant who swam across the Channel with his head in his teeth
