Just got done watching news I believe 3 young kids were found dead in the back of a car trunk. It's not yet known how they got their. A family member found them back their after smelling a weird smell. The car was close to the kids house and was a junk car. Just sitting there broke down.
Cops said that they searched the car and nothing was their. Obviously not. And the kids have been dead they for some time...obviously these cops don't do their job.
I say half these darn cops don't do their dang job do you agree?
Here's another story to back me up. In my hometown some months ago cops were looking for a wanted man. They thought he was living with his mother so they went to the house and asked him to open the door. They got no responce. (BECAUSE NO ONE WAS HOME!) So instead of breaking down the door to check they trew A LOT of tear gas into the house. And that ruined the house.
His monther was mad and the cops did not pay for the damage. When the mother arrived her house was thrashed! And she told the cops she has not seen her son and hardly does...
Her son been living with friends not his mother. And the great heroic cops thrashed her house for nothing.
But don't blame the cops they were trying to help our community....

I agree...if your going to protect our community, you better do it right. Or people will just take the law into their own hands. Now i've seen stories where cops do a wonderful job, and some stories where the cops are so atagonistic. I've seen more stories where they're antagonistic.
But I'm not saying I don't appreciate them. Like when I see car chases in TV and they catch the guy, I think positive for cops around the world.

That's the thing though - the media is out for its own agenda to sensationalise stories in order to sell more newspapers or get more TV audiences to watch their show.
The fact that we see more stories of lazy and/or antagonistic cops has more to do with the media whipping up a frenzy than anything else. I truly hope that someday everyone will realise that not everything they see printed or on TV has to be the truth.

I feel that the kids were probably playing games, hid'n'seek what ever and thought the trunk would be a good place to hide. How were the "cops" to know to look in every trunk in a 1 block radiace.
On that note the cop's were not the ones to blam but the adults that were looking after them. the care givers lost them and the police came to help them .
I will never say the police are always right, they do a job that pays less then most average citizans. Who must take responsibility for this!!!!!! not the cops... WATCH YOUR KIDS....

i think cops help in some way, but more then likely they give stupid tickets to help raise the economy.

The NYPD are cool in my books. they don't get the support and honor they deserve, NYC is a safe city because of them.

But don't you hate those cops just sitting there around the corner waiting for you to come drving by 2miles per hour faster then you are so they can get you with a ticket? When they should be out there doing somehing more...helpful.

In NYC the cops let us drive 5-15 miles over the speed limit, because they know the posted speed limit is way to slow. But if you go like 20 and over the limit expect to be stopped. Two years ago there was a ticket blitz in the city but that died down because the press made a joke about.

I voted no because of personal expierce. Everyday I see cops ignoring crime as they go by. They are only useful when it comes to the bigger stuff... sometimes. Some of the cops around here are lucky enough to even be able to write a speeding ticket let along try and close down a crime scene. Been a number of reports lately of evidence messed up because of idiots walking right through the scene. A lot of the cops just see their job as it is... a job. They want to slack and tehy don't want to do a lot of work.

I think the majority of cops are absoloubtly fine or dedicated.
Evrey day millions of cops do there jobs admirably.
But you never read about it in the paper because it's expected. Where as when one police officer makes one mistake, it's all over the news.

Agreed. I voted they do a good job. You can't let the bad stories you hear about over shadow the huge number of good cops. It's a stereotype like everything else. A few blonds are dumb, now all blonds are dumb. Some men use women for sex, so now women think all men are like that.
There is always some bad peas in the pod, so if you don't like what you hear, you go do their job. Don't want to? Well consider that they have a highly risky job compared to the majority and I don't doubt that will cause a few bad seeds, with being shot at or in car crashes, or trying to protect the public all day every day can put a large burden and strain on anybody. We're lucky to have the good cops that are out there.
So if you want to help the good cops out, report the bad ones!!
(BTW, I've had more tickets than I can count, so don't get me wrong, I'm not too happy about the ticket-writing part, but I'm still very grateful to them).

I come from a family with a history of involvement in law enforcement. I know that the job is much more difficult than it appears on the surface. Like most things it is easy to sit in your comfortable homes and offer criticism. But until you have walked a beat, had to investigate a crime, be the first to arrive at an automobile accident scene, tell the parents of a teen-ager that their son or daughter is dead, listen to the ravings of a traffic offender while you diligently write a ticket, or in the line of duty been forced to not only pull your weapon but heaven forbid actually use it you do not have a clue just how hard a job law enforcement really is.

One time, I went to a halloween party with my friends. I decided to leave my GBA in the car. So, my parents go to Red Lobster to eat. When they get back there, SOMEONE BROKE IN THE CAR AND STOLE MY GBA!!!!

It had my awesome Final Fantasy Tactics Advance game in it, and the police did NOTHING. The insurance company wouldn't refurbish what I lost, so I had to choke up another $40 for another game, and $100 for a GBA SP(when they first came out).

What would you have the police to do issue an all points bulletin, throw up road blocks, take finger prints? The insurance is only going to pay out for loss after the deductable has been met, which I believe in most cases is $250.00. Mine is $500.00. So using your unfortunate experience I would imagine that you parents insurance had a deductable higher than the value of your GBA. Color me dumb but what is a GBA? As far as the police doing anything let's assume a few things ok. Let's assume that your parents were in the restruant for 90 minutes. Let us also then assume that the car was broken into after you parents had been in the restruant for only 5 minutes. That leaves 85 minutes for whomever stole your GBA to get away. How far can you walk, run, drive, ride a bike, hell even crawl in 85 minutes? Besides your loss, though unfortunate, really ranks kind of low on the scale of importance in the normal tour of duty for an average city officer. Really if an officer was busy tracking down your GBA, what are the drug dealers around the corner doing. Stopping the drug dealers or finding a lost child certainly ranks higher than your GBA.

I know that cops around here only care about giving tickets to make more money for the county. My mom got pulled over for not having a front license plate. She has driven around with no front plate for ten years and no one has said anything before. She did not have a front plate, because the front of our car is really low to the ground, and there was no bracket to put one in.
Now that instance isn't that bad, but in my neighborhood people shoot fireworks year-round, steal wheels off of cars, light their leaves on fire in the fall, and generally do whatever the hell they please. We have a cop who lives down the road, but all he does is work on his corvette.
Also in the winter a drunk driver smashed into a truck next door at about 60 mph. The cops and EMT's arrived, but it took them about an hour to make it about a mile down the road. They were actually called three times to see if they were coming.
Of course not all cops are bad or lazy, but the ones around here generally don't do much to help the people.

About the two examples 2Pac posted..
I've heard the first story on the radio, and it seems that so far they have no idea what happened,so I'll reserve judgement to Police responsibility as yet..
But if those children were placed there then it just could have been done after the police had searched the car..
If something was done to those kids it may have been a neighbor who did it..They might well have seen the Police look through that car, and figured it was safe to hide them there..
As to the second case..If it comes down to risking a bullet when coming through a door, I'd choose to throw tear-gas first every time, but that's just me..
I agree that I hate traffic stops and jaywalking fines more than anything, but when it comes down to the major crimes I'd say the Police do a pretty fine job, overall..

Its across the board for all jobs that there are a minority who abuse their rights, and those who do a bad job.
Cops would be no different, and lawyers would be impossible to tell from those who didn't.....

I find a major problem around here is that the police have simply had their hands tied by bleeding heart, political correct attitudes...for example, a story I've recounted at least a couple of times on the boards, a guy walks down our road, kicking in the wing mirrors of all the cars he comes across....everyone on the street knows exactly who he is, but when the police come round, they can't do a thing, because he's 15.
Personally, I would have had them drag him into a dark room and beat the living hell out of him, but oh well...

I know what you mean, but I feel cops have one of the most important jobs. Others who abuse their job are not as bad as cops. Anyone who abuses their job should be fired!
Cops are just ones that get away from it.
But I must say some do a great job.

i voted they dont do crap, like you guys said, there are cops that to do their job, ive just never seen one, ive got quite a few first hand experiences, like
one of the security guards at the collage was shot at, well not just shot at, they chased him( on foot) with a truck shooting at him, they called the cops, it took them 2 hours to get there, they had to call 3 times.
someone went crazy and started shooting at my friends house, he had a lot to drink, long story, anyways, they called the cops and again 2 hours to get there, my friends could have all been killed in that time.
same friends were all hanging out, mind you this is in the middle of nowhere same area they got shot at, one of them burned rubber, and the cops were there in 15 MINUETS. my friend literally chewed the cop out about how he can take 2 hours to get there when hes getting shot at but there in 15 minuets when nothing dangerous is happening, the cop said nothing and left.
someone guy broke into my fathers car and stole his checkbook, later that day he tried to cash a check, the bank knows me and my brother, the guy told them he was my dads son, to they took a photo copy of his photo id, you know the one with address and all that stuff, well its been 6 months or so, and the cops still haven't gotten him, THEY HAVE HIS address AND A PICTURE OF WHAT HE LOOKS LIKE!!
and last but not least, my brother was robbed by 3 guys, they said they had a gun, but he didn't see it, they made him drive to the atm and empty his account, (he got his money back thankfully) then they took his wallet and said they nave his address and if he told the cops they would kill him. my brother met them once before at a party, and he asked the guy who threw the party and got a phone number, the cops know where they are, and said they cant do anything, cause their "under age"
if i knew that you could get away with robing someone and threatening their life cause your underage, i would have been doing all kinds of stuff when i was younger.........
there are hundreds no, thousands dumbasses that tear around the roads like they own them in their suped up rice rockets, passing on the right, driving between 2 cars almost forcing them both off the road(ive only seen this once), driving like 100 miles an hour(we dont have freeways, we have highways with highest speed limit 55, for you mainlanders) and the only people i see getting pulled over? the people in the regular cars, doing like 55 in a 45, i think its cause they know they cant catch the rice rockets, but it still dont make it right.
you tell me if cops do their jobs
