Hi RevolverOcelot, welcome to the forum

We kill because we have free will, and because we care enough about ourselves that another life isn't anything(AKA ignorance)

P.S. Please don't use all caps, gives some of us headaches

It's a mixture of a number of things really. There is jealousy and greed, wanting what someone else has got. There is hate and prejudice against people, especially with race and religion. There is fear of other people. Power is a big factor as people will always want to tell other people what to do and it is also a fundamental part of human nature which is basically what you said with inheriting from apes. With apes it was mainly over territory and rivalry between the alpha male and other males which is basically power and greed. Hope that helps ya

I've heard that some have been driven to homicidal rampage by reading cap-locked posts all day..
Just kidding..I agree there's no one simple answer for this, but as the top species on the planet we tend to break nature's general rules with impunity..The capacity for rational thought and the sophisticated development of our emotions effects us in a way that few other animals have to worry about..
As our Brain power increased we shelved our more primal emotions..
However, they still exist; and when they come out they're ten times as destructive as other species' simply for being repressed..
It almost seems as if we're like other animals only with every quality turned up to 10...
Where an animal will defend it's territory until a rival is chased off, we'll pre-emptively kill rivals so they don't invade..Where one species might mate to reproduce or to gain acceptance or food, we do it for pure, hedonistic pleasure..
See what I mean?
Our urges are completely normal, but somehow amplified..

Well unless you are a psychopath - and apparently there is a gene responsible for that I would guess we kill out of fear and / or survival.

And humans kill each other because were based from a table of animals. Humans are mammals right? So why wouldn’t we kill each other as animals do?

I don't think it's really just because we are animals, I mean animals don't kill each other just for that reason. A lot of them fight over territory or a mate, sometimes food. But you don't see them fighting just because they are animals.

We all have a capable to kill for over many reasons. All this was for evil, greed, power, and fame or fear. I doubt that we did that because we are inherited by apes, but when you kill people, you're going to jail for it. You did it not because you're inherited by your parents or apes because you did it for yourself and your decision. That's it.

people kill for many reasons, but the animal theory, is a good one survival of the fittest, also women who are suffering from post partium depression, will kill there children, and some people are just psychopaths, who do not feel guilt for anything they do,

Why do Humans kill each other? there is not one answer for this question, but many. Most of the time in wars its allways been some a****le just wanting to start s***! to name a few examples
-your local school "bully"
-Japan (WW2)
-Britain (in the colonial era ) because they were fighting lots and lots of people.
-Napoleon
---------------------------------------------------------------------
other times it is an evil and/or crazy person that starts wars because a few people chose to belive that person, and more, and more.etc...
example: Hitler
---------------------------------------------------------------------
other times it is religious radicalls that start stuff.
examples:
-Religious ExtremismTerrorism: hezbollah,al-queda,etc...
-The Inquisition: (murduring and torturing of all who were not catholic)
-The Crusades: Crusades are Holy wars that can be started on a variety of different religious subjects.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
that pretty much sums it up. A lot of people like to think that world peace will happen, but in reality there are too many...
-a****les
-evil people and insane people
-and Religious persons that can take things too far
these are 3 key reasons why we fight each other.

I think a main factor here is our egotistical nature; it seems to us that we are the only one with a relationship, we are the only one with kids, we are the only one who is important. We do not realize that in killing someone we are erasing their whole life and everything in it. Nowadays it can be done with merely a pull of the trigger.
Other factors are alcohol, drugs, and mental illness's. Most people who commit murder are in a deppresive state, have aggresion problems, or simply can't think things through. Those who lack these problems but kill anyway are just plain ignorant.

"Actually it's quite fun to fight them, you know. It's a hell of a hoot," Lt. Gen. James Mattis. "It's fun to shoot some people. I'll be right up there with you. I like brawling.
"You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn't wear a veil," Mattis said. "You know, guys like that ain't got no manhood left anyway. So it's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them."
One hardcore Marine... so I guess you can add "fun" to the list of why we kill.

Mayhap it's a gnat more complicated than you suggest, beguiling though the idea is. The hours Gibbon spent agonising over the title of his masterwork on the Roman empire, when all the time he could have called it "Some A****le Trying to Start S***", or H. Hansen's famous one volume history of the American Civil War, which would have been so much more digestible if he'd removed that whole plodding first chapter on the causes and renamed the book "The American Civil War. A History, or, Some A****le Trying to Start S***."
Seriously though. This kind of soundbite, blanket revisionism does nobody any good.

Makes sense. However (I'm being a pain in the patootie)... there are other species that have sex for pleasure - certain species of ape, dolphins, and some rodent I forget the name of right now.
I also saw a show on the sub-species of chimp that lured a young male away from his territory under a guise of friendship (grooming and the like), and then about 20 of them jumped him and beat him to death.
But we humans definately set the records on senseless violence and sex.

Yes, we kill in fear.. I believe that is one major reason. But where killing is mostly derived from is in wars .. and those who are in a war kill because they have had to 'follow orders' no matter how immoral they may be.. we are all innately born with this trait to kill in fear as well as to follow, obey to those who have authority.. In a war everyone must kill eachother - according to the psychologist 'Milgram' - we all obey a person .. humans are followers .. there always hasto be a leader which we will obey , even when in doing so would kill ourselves.. its our tendency to sacrifice ourselves to serve. This related to our Death instinct 'Thanatos' we are all born with.

Okay as humans we kill out of revenge, stupidicy, anger, insane acts, and other reasons. In some cultures cannabalism....yuck. I mean imagine eating human flesh just because your hungry. yuck. Or just eating it because you like it.
Anyways we all kill something not necessarliy humans.
We kill animals,plants,ourselves,and others.
All because this is the circle of life.

Why do humans kill other humans?
90% Greed...
Most major conflicts can somehow be connected to greed. Not always greed for money, but also for power, fame.
9% Survival...
People become jealous, and see others as competition. When people feel threatened they are quick to make the first move.
1% The Sickos...
Serial Killers, Rapist any other criminal that really makes your stomach turn.
Basically, We are noble savages. We live in a modern world only equipped with basic instincts. We have laws, authority, religion to prevent people from acting out like animals. We see two apes fighting over territory until one surrenders or is dead, we see that as primative. But our wars, are the same exact thing on a much larger scale. We just invent things to let us kill many more enemies at one time.
That is my opinion.

I was just creating those figures out of my mind. They are not statistics nor do they have any kind of research value. Through my own experience and what I have learned in World History, Philosophy, Psychology, and Sociology I have created my own theories. I will admit my personal experience doesn't exist outside of the USA, but I do read a lot of world history.
For example, Hitler was a sicko, but I feel his main motivation was greed for power, so he falls into the greed category. The sickos are the people that see killing another human as a simple task or feel it is there obligation to take another's life
