I have seen this before, I will see if i can remember where, and how you solve it. It's a "trick" of the eye just so you know. It has something to do with the way the squares are cut and then put back together, you are creating a block that didnt exist before.

Okay, I have attached an image where you can pick and move the pieces. Use Windows Paint to move the pieces. I hope it helps.
[edit] I give up...

What exactly are we trying to do with this? Make the other square? If so, I did that. Though I doubt that's what you're trying to do. =\

Well, i'm trying to solve the GIF above. Like the first large square has 64 blocks, right? Then when you rearrange the pieces, its 65! I'm trying to figure this out, or we can do it.
Here is how far I got

If you enlarge that picture enough, you will notice subtle differences in the way the square's fit together. They are slightly out of allignment, which gives the shape a different mass. When they are rearranged as they are in the picture, the difference in area mass happens to be one square. Simple.
Edit - there is a dedicated riddle thread for this kind of thing. Ah well, all the best,

Hey, thanks BFG for the help, and everyone who posted...or tried anyway. I finally figured it out and posted a visual. When the two triangles are set together, they don't actually FIT. I put a grid to show you that there is missing area between the two triangles that make the extra square...
o well

Actually, the entire square is full of flaws, i'm a little dissapointed it went this way

Notice the empty area in the middle of the rectangle...
The GIF image in the first post is faulty, wasn't precise to begin with...technology and people these days.
