Well I just hope I don't die or something a year from now lol it did nothing to me, and I already had seen it before but didn't knew the story behind it, the mind is a powerful thing and if you believe in what you read it may happen, since I'm not supersticious maybe that's the reason why it doesn't have effect on me BUT THINK about it.. if this had any truth in it instead of weapons soldiers would just bring to war a copy of these and throw it at the enemy

I've seen this painting in another thread before. The very first time I saw it I hated it so much I wanted to break the monitor, and I just felt depressed and scared looking at it. Now that it was brought to my attention again, I was at first scared again because of the memories, but now that I look at it, it's almost soothing.
The power of the bizzare in paintings is by far the most interesting and fun aspect to use.

..I kinda like it.. its not that creepy.. at all really..
That girl is a doll.. for certain, the eyes, plus if you look near her elbow, there is a hinge.
And that head isn't really that huge. For one; in almost every person, the eyes are in the middle (or close middle) of the head, middle from bottom to top of the head. The fact that his head is shaved makes his forehead (and entire head) seem bigger. Look at a person with a similar haircut, you'll notice that their head probably looks a bit big. Also, when kids are younger, sometimes there bodies aren't entirely portioned. For instance, when I was younger, I had huge ears (for my size), but as I grew up, I 'grew into them'.
Plus, if all that doesn't convince you that his head isn't really that big, I believe the artist said it was about the subcious, or something of the kind, and most artists who do something in that area tend to over exaggerate something.

I felt nothing. It's just a painting , a litte creepy maybe . I am useing it as a background on my comp now though
When coincidental deaths surround a particular 'object', the spectre of the object is increased. In fact there is nothing particularly peculiar about either the name of the painting or the painting itself. After going to the artists website and viewing the rest of his work, it is obvious to me that major influences in his artistic expression included Salvador Dali and MC Escher. While his work is quite impressive it is by no means 'original' as the surrealistic aspects of all of his paintings predate him a good bit.
All that being said to express the thought that A) He is a very good artist and

Not really extrordinary.

I feel nothing but an extreme longing to have that painting. I would like to investigate that more, but im not sure what that guy was doing when he painted that.

I showed it to my sister and she felt sick too and I didn't even told her what was the story behind it only after she watched it.. I wonder why it does this for some ppl, maybe the colors used? at least that's what my sister thought.

I looked at it yesterday again, and the more I looked at it, the more I loved it. I loved it so much that I started looking at other paintings by this artist, which I am proud to say are just as eerie.

Creepy painting, I wouldn't want it. It does make me feel funky though, I think it is something about the proportions of the images and the lighting sort of tricks you into seeing something wierd.

it's an eerie painting i think, but mainly because of as was said before the power of suggestion. It kinda gives you a knotty feeling in your tummy though

I saw it nearly a year ago when I first joined this site. The painting is freaky without the caption, I mean, one of the boys' arms is thicker than the other...FREAKY!! And the girl-doll has no eyes, how will she see the awful freakiness of the boys arms and run!!!

It's definitely not something I want over my mantle. Another horrible painting is "Saturn Devouring One of HIs Children" by Goya. *shudder*

A tip: Links from UM's photo gallery that are usually 1-2 months or more old are very outdated, and will take you to some other pic

But don't worry, the painting is nothing to lose sleep over

Yes, the changing positions of the pictures in the image gallery is going to cause a problem, so I'm going to close this thread, its pretty much served its purpose.
