Those are quote goldmines.

What did you prefer, the Life of Brian or the Holy Crusade? (Or the meaning of life)

Life of Brian every time
i learnt not to take astrology seriously from that movie.
"
MANDY: What star sign is he?
WISE MAN #2: Uh, Capricorn.
MANDY: Uhh, Capricorn, eh? What are they like?
WISE MAN #2: Ooh, but... he is the son of God, our Messiah.
WISE MAN #1: King of the Jews.
MANDY: And that's Capricorn, is it?
WISE MAN #2: Uh, no, no, no. That's just him."
yeah right
blessed are the cheesemakers
i used to have a slave that had a t shirt that said that
she was cool because of it imao

Life of Brian was my first and favourite - No doubt about it.

"We must gather shoes in a great abundance!"
Mr Ed
laugh.gif Especially with that man with the junifer bushes!

Hmm I am not sure, the Holy Crusade is pretty damn funny, the ending is so unpredictable! And the favourite colour bit of course.

Ni!! Ni!! Ni!! Ni!! Ni!! Ni!!

Who are you?!

We are the knights who say Ni!!

No! Not the knights who say Ni!!

The same!

grin2.gif I love them!! And the black knight! And the bunny! And the horses! laugh.gif

Quest for the Holy Grail is my favourite. So many classic moments. Although Life of Brian has a better story and greater commentary on current events.

All the best,
Mr Ed
My mum met michael palin once, by chance, he was sitting on a bench.
He was quite ill and she asked him for an autograph, he wrote 'from the remains of Michael Palin' laugh.gif

JUDITH: The first blow has been struck!
REG: Did he finish the slogan?
JUDITH: A hundred times, in letters ten foot high, all the way around the palace!
REG: Oh, great. Great. We-- we need doers in our movement, Brian, but... before you join us, know this: there is not one of us here who would not
gladly suffer death to rid this country of the Romans once and for all.
COMMANDO: Uhh. Well, one.
REG: Oh, yeah. Yeah, there's one, but otherwise, we're solid. Are you with us?
BRIAN: Yes!
REG: From now on, you shall be called 'Brian that is called Brian'. Tell him about the raid on Pilate's palace, Francis.
FRANCIS: Right. This is the plan...

Since you brought it up.....

My favourite skit of all time - Gumby Brain surgery

DR GUMBY: Hello!
GUMBY: Are you the brain specialist?
DR GUMBY: (Long pause) Hello!
GUMBY: Are you the brain specialist?
DR GUMBY: No. no I am not the brain specialist, no I'm not, no..... YES! Yes I am the brain specialist.
GUMBY: My brain hurts.
DR GUMBY: Well let's take a look at it then (hits Gumby on head) It will have to come out.
GUMBY: out.... out of... of my head?
DR GUMBY: Only bits of it!

"The Ballad of Dennis Moore"

"Put your hands in the air and give me all your lupins"

Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore,
galloping through the sward,
Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore,
and his horse Concorde.
He steals from the rich,
he gives to the poor,
Mr Moore, Mr Moore, Mr Moore.

Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore,
Riding through the night.
Soon every lupin in the land
Will be in his mighty hand
He steals them from the rich
And gives them to the poor
Mr Moore, Mr Moore, Mr Moore.

Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore,
Dumdum alum the night.
Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore,
Dun de dun dum plight.
He steals dumdum dun
And dumdum dum dee
Dennis dun, Dennis dee, dum dum dum.

Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore,
Riding through the woods.
Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore
With a bag of things.
He gives to the poor and he takes from the rich
Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore.

Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore
Etcetera, etcetera...

Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore
Riding through the land
Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore
Without a merry band
He steals from the poor.
And gives to the rich
Stupid b****.

"Shut up! This is a hold-up, not a botany lesson. Right, now my fine friends, no false moves please. I want you to hand over all the lupins you've got. "

Ah! The guys of Monty Python are my heroes! I love them so much. No, its stronger than love. I have an addiction. They're like drugs. Wheee! I've seen all of their films and own all of them except for The Life of Brian, and I own half of the Flying Circus volumes. I'll soon own them all. Muhahaha. I also own Graham Chapman's A Liars Autobiography and The Pythons Autobiography by The Pythons. Oh yes, and I own the Monty Python Live boxset thingy. They're geniuses! My friends and family think I need therapy.

Well since everyone wants to pay tribute to python, I would also like to mention Neil Innes, who is really an unnoffical member.

He added music to the movies gracefully and very very amusingly... *brave sir robin*
girty1600
The ballad of Sir Robin........

Bravely bold Sir Robin rode forth from Camelot
He was not afraid to die, O brave Sir Robin
He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin

He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp
Or to have his eyes gouged out and his elbows broken
To have his kneecaps split and his body burned away
And his limbs all hacked and mangled, brave Sir Robin

His head smashed in and his heart cut out
And his liver removed and his bowels unplugged
And his nostrils raped and his bottom burnt off
And his penis...
Well that's enough music for now, lads...

Brave Sir Robin ran away - No!
Bravely ran away, away - I didn't!
When danger reared its ugly head
He bravely turned his tail and fled - No!
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly he chickened out
Bravely taking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat
Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin
Subtemperate
Thankyou oh girty one..... For you have taken my ball, and run with it. yes.gif

Do you per chance have the words to "how sweet to be an idiot?" as that is also a neil innes song performed with Python original.gif

The ballad of sir robin cracked me up so badly! Nearly as much as the stoning in the life of Brian laugh.gif

While we're on the topic, does anyone know when Flying Circus volume's are going to arrive on DVD? In Australia specifically, but if I have to import, then I guess that's what I gotta do.....
MadEyePixie
marduk, I know, I know. I should be beaten.

BFG, as far as I know, they already are on DVD. I dunno about them being is Australia though.

Since I'm sure you are all John Cleese fans, I'll ask this question. Has anyone seen Fawlty Towers? I love that show. Its probably my second fav. (Flying Circus being number one of course)
Mr Ed
That show is so funny! I caught farty towels the other day, on the tv.
Paranoid Android
MadEye - no, they aren't on DVD in Australia yet, I'm considering forking out the extreme cost of importation, but am holding out hope for an Australian release soon....

On the other hand, Fawlty Towers is out on DVD, and I have got that. That's such a cool show.
MadEyePixie
Aw, sad times, BFG. I'm glad I'm able to get the Flying Circus volumes. Hooray for Wal*Mart! I'm getting the first two volumes of Fawlty Towers pretty soon.
Hoagy
Monty Python is just pure genius, I swear, I love that stuff, I have the complete unexpurgated scripts somewhere....

I never wanted to be a fiend....

...I wanted to be a lumberjack, leaping from tree to tree as they float down the mighty rivers of British Columbia, with my best girl by my side *grabs Pandy* we'd sing, sing. SING!...

you know the rest.... laugh.gif

As you wish, dear Subby! yes.gif

How sweet to be an Idiot,
As harmless as a cloud,
Too small to hide the sun,
Almost poking fun
At the warm but insecure, untidy crowd.
How sweet to be an idiot,
And dip my brain in joy,
Children laughing at my back,
With no fear of attack,
As much retaliation as a toy.
How sweet to be an idiot. How sweet.

I tiptoed down the street,
Smiled at everyone I meet,
But suddently a scream
Smashes through my dream.
Fee fie foe fum.
I smell the blood of an asylum.
(Blood of an asylum. But mother, I play so beautifully. Listen. Ha ha.)
Fie fye foe fum.
I smell the blood of the asylum.
Hey you. You're such a pennant.
You got as much brain as a dead ant,
As much imagination as a carvan sign,

But I still love you. Still love you.
Oooh, how sweet to be an idiot.
How sweet. How sweet. How sweet.

Mr Ed
Any of you seen 'and now for something completely different'?

Mr Ed
I am not sure! I have seen life or Brian more times so it has lost some power of me. I am in two minds about it!
MadEyePixie
All of their films are great, but my favorite is Meaning of Life.

Debbie: Can I ask you a question?
Grim Reaper: What?
Debbie: How can we all have died at the same time?
Grim Reaper: The salmon mousse!
Geoffrey: Darling, you didn't use tinned salmon did you?
Angela: I'm most dreadfully embarrassed...
PadawanOsswe
from The Meaning of Life: Fighting each other

We are in the First World
War, in the trenches.
We PAN AWAY from the trenches and across No-Man's Land
where we pick up a DESPERATE SQUAD OF FIGHTING MEN huddled
in a shell-hole.
CUT TO A KNOLL. Over the knoll come the same SQUAD, smoke
and shells-all around. Their faces are stained and
blackened.

TREVOR
O.K. Blackitt, Timpson and Spadger -
you take the buggers on the left
flank. Willets, Bradbury and I
will go for the gunpost.

BLACKITT

(a Deptford Cockney)
You'll never make it sir ... let us
come with you ...

TREVOR
Do as you're told man.

BLACKITT
Righto skipper.

(he starts to go,

then stops)
Oh, if I ... if we don't meet again ...
I just want to say it's been a
privilege fighting alongside you sir ...
They are continually ducking as bullets fly past them and
shells burst overhead.

TREVOR
Yes, well I think this is hardly the
time or place for a goodbye speech ...
TREVOR is clearly anxious to go.

BLACKITT
No, me and the lads realise that but ...
well ... we may never meet again and so ...

TREVOR
Alright, Blackitt, thanks a lot.

BLACKITT
Just a mo, sir! You see me and the
lads had a little whip-round, and
we bought you this, sir ...

He produces a handsome ormulu clock from his pack. TREVOR
is at a loss for words. He is continually ducking.

TREVOR
Well I don't know what to say ...
It's a lovely thought ... thank you ...
thank you all ... and now we'd
better ...

He starts to go.

BLACKITT
Hang on a tick, sir, we got something
else for you ...

TWO of the OTHERS emerge from some bushes with a grandfather
clock.

BLACKITT
Sorry it's another clock ...
There was a bit of a mix-up ...
Wellacott thought he was buying the
present, and Spadger and I had
already got the other.

TREVOR
Well it's beautiful ... They're both
beau -

A bullet suddenly shatters the face of the grandfather clock
(maybe kills one of the CARRIERS)

TREVOR
... but I think perhaps we'd better
get to cover now. I'll thank you
properly later ...

TREVOR starts to go again but BLACKITT hasn't finished.

BLACKITT
And Sergeant Harper got this for
you, sir. He didn't know about the
rest of us ...

He hands over a wrist watch.

TREVOR
Lovely.

A shell bursts right overhead. TREVOR flings himself down
into the mud.

Christ! Right! Let's go!

BLACKITT
And there's a card from all of us ...

He produces a mud-splattered envelope.

... Sorry about that.

TREVOR pockets it and tries to go on.

Three cheers for Captain Donovan.
Hip Hip -

ALL
Hooray!

BLACKITT
Hip Hip -

ALL
Hoor ...

An almighty burst of machine-gun silences most of them.
BLACKITT is hit.

TREVOR
Blackitt!

BLACKITT

(hurt)
And one final thing, sir ... ah!
Spadger, the cheque ...

TREVOR
Oh now really this is too much ...

SPADGER
Damn, I don't seem to be able to
find it ...

TREVOR

(losing his cool)
Oh! For Christ's sake man forget it!

The OTHERS all look at TREVOR after this outburst, as if they can't believe his ingratitude.

BLACKITT
Oh! Ah!

SPADGER
You shouldn't have said that, sir.

TREVOR
I'm sorry.

SPADGER
You've hurt his feelings ...

BLACKITT
Don't mind me, Spadge ... Toffs is
all the same ... one minute it's all
please and thank you, the next they'll
kick you in the teeth ...

ONE WHISPERS
Let's not give him the cake ...

TREVOR
I don't want any cake.

SPADGER
Blackitt cooked it specially for you,
you bastard.

They all look at BLACKITT rolling in the mud.

ANOTHER
Yeah, he saved his rations for six
weeks sir.

YET ANOTHER
He made the icing ... he bought the
hundreds and thousands ...

SPADGER
And look at him now! The least you can do is eat the bloody thing.
Hostile murmurings. Shell whistles overhead.

TREVOR
I'm sorry I don't mean to be
ungrateful ...
Shell crashes.
... Let's have the cake ... and
really enjoy it ... come on!
Eh? ...

From seasons 1 and 2, some skits included are but not limited to :"Nudge, Nudge", "Hell's Grannies", "Killer Cars", "Dead Parrot", "Lumberjack Song", "Blackmail" and "Upper Class Twit of the Year". I must say that the finale, "Upper Class Twit of the Year", is one of my favorites. A bunch of suites competing in odd olympic like events can always get a giggle. happy.gif

Upper Class Twit of the Year is great. Its so hard to pick a favorite sketch. They all are so awesomely funny.
