Both Britian and the US, and Canada have pretty much the same humor basically..Each country tends to specialize a little more in certain areas than others, like British Satire or American Sarcasm for example, but basically we all get a laugh out of the same jokes..

Terrance and Phillip... "Shut your fuc%·& face uncle fuc$·%"
Easily one of the best songs I've heard, still cracks me up every time I listen to it.

U know, after I watched the movie I can't take Saddam Hussein seriously. I mean, every time I see him on the TV I remember him in the pink bed with Satan and a giant sausage and asking him "who's my creampuff?"

The US uses mostly sarcasm, but I find black comedians annoying with their constant white people jokes, it gets very old after awhile.
Britain mostly uses silly humour, sometimes this can be extremely funny and sometimes very dull.
While I think America wins when it comes to stand-up comedy, Britain has the best sketches.
My top shows for both:
America
Family Guy
Whose Line is it Anyway? (originally from Britain, but I think the American version is much better)
Britain
Trigger Happy TV (One of my all time favorite shows)
Monty Python (Classic.)
Both are pretty equal when it comes to comedy I say.

America comes up with good stuff, but at the moment we have Ricky Gervais and Peter Kay...

This question is a no-brainer. English comedy wins hands down.
Blackadder, Fawlty Towers, Yes Prime Minister, Young Ones, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (TV version), Bottom, Vicar of Dibley, Red Dwarf, Mr Bean, and many many more.
And of course the crowning glory, Monty Python.

The only British show I've seen that was funny is Trigger Happy TV, but nothing gets me howling better than Tommy Boy, Dumb and Dumber, Billy Madison (or any Adam Sandler movie), stand-up comedians, Blue Collar TV, most comedy sitcoms come from the US, the Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, Home Improvement, Fresh Prince, Roseanne, etc...etc...etc...

Just checked the link thanks and in a country that is 97% Roman Catholic I think I might miss them off the Holiday list, I bet the only time we hear their name mentioned is in that other fantastic funny program.... The Eurovision Song Contest.

America I think.
Fraiser, is the funniest show of all time. Friends is great. The episodes of SouthPark which cater for critism of the governmen rather than toilet humour are also the funniest things on tv. Third Rock from the sun is also good.
But then again... its also the country which produced tripe like Stienfield, Joey and America's Dumbist Criminals, some of the most unfunny shows ever.
I hate most UK comedy because its tends to be dark, very dark. However, Blackadder, Victor of Dibly are hilarious. As is Billy Connelly just a pitty he caters in toilet humour.
Ireland has Father Ted, one of the top 10 funniest shows ever.
Japan has a lot of funny programs like Full Metal Panic F, Azumanga, and Cromite Highschool.

Interesting how big Monty Python still is around the world, whereas now, with the exception of The Office and Phoenix Nights, decent new comedy shows are very few and far between.

It's not a matter of what country has the best comedians. Whatever makes you laugh is the main issue. But if I must pick: the British (England). Black Adder, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Mr. Bean, etc.

Interesting that; maybe we just get the best of it over here, but we associate American comedy with stuff like Friends, Frasier, Seinfeld, all of which leaves most recent British stuff (other than The Office and Phoenix Nights, as I said above) standing. Still, I suppose just as anywhere, you've got to sift through a lot of crap to find the quality.

I think the Country with the best sense of humour is Jamaica.. Now, the humour is not neccesarily derived from the actual idea/words .. it is the *Way* they are said which is by far the funniest! I must say.. The 'come-backs' which jamaicans have when theyre taking the p*ss out of eachother is just beautiful.. soo cocky; like you criticise them and then BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMM !!! Your raped to shreds by a really clever and witty come-back!

Or perhaps it's just preference. Friends just generally sucks. Frasier is occasionally good. And Seinfeld is rather boring, with a rare moment of laughter.
Or at least this is my opinion.

RECommended Comedy!!!!!!! ALERT !!!!!!!
Australia's FAT PIZZA - very very very very funny - but very very CRUDE.
Get it out today - It is about a Lebanese (Lebo) that owns a Pizza Shop. It is based around Melbourne and the multiculturism there and the gang fighting between the different cultures.
You have the
Lebos
Wogs
The Bro's (Mauri's)
Chinese Mafia
and others
Just for some fun they threw in the gang of 'Fat Chicks' and the 'Midget' Copper.
It is so completely politically incorrect, that it is forgiveable - and the parts are played by the real deal.
It is people making fun at their own crap. I love it.
Enjoy.
