I'll start this debate by saying that Xbox is supreme.

More memory, better graphics, better controls.

ps2 used to be superior in terms of games avaliable, what woth grand theft auto, resident evil, final fantasy and metal gear solid. But all of this liscences have either been sold or turned multi-platform, so sony's losing it's edge. Just gonna have to wait and see which franchises land where in the great scramble for next-generation games

xbox games sucked when they first came out, but now they are so much better than PS2, i've played a lot of multiplatform games on both systems, and they are always much better on xbox. my vote is for the green box

I've got a PS2 ( well it's my big brother's ) but I have never played an Xbox game before, so my vote is PS2

Xbox and GC are tied for graphics capabilities.

The real question is what games do you prefer. Myself, personally, have never seen an Xbox game i like, and if i do, it's on the PS2 too and most likely came out there first.

Well, I'm a N fan, but since that wasn't a choice, I like the PS better than the Xbox mainly because of games. Xbox has Halo......and that is pretty much it.

I find the only downfall to the GC was the controller... man I hated that, but you all know I'm an Xbox fan... so my votes for xbox....

I have an XBOX but I liked my PS2 better.

I own a PS2 and I love its games, the Xbox games library has not only grown in size but in quality as well so it isn`t far behind, but its the PS2 for me. The quality of games wins over graphics and power any day.

Xbox. But then again, I've never owned a PS2 to compare.....

What I'm wondering though is the Xbox360 vs PS3. I know Xbox360 has Morrowind: Oblivion coming out, so it's got my vote too

Game Cube has absurd specs when compared to the XBOX - It has always been third place in the consle war, and that is for a reason.

The PS2 is below XBOX in specs, however it has many-a games, so it evens out a little, but still the Xbox is superior.

And, not to be funny, but didnt the GC have like 3 releases last month?

In my opinion you're choice depends on the type of games and entertainment you enjoy.
Like cute little japanese anime characters running around doing kerazzzzy things? or super innovative games that make you stop and stare? then the cubes the one for you
Or do you enjoy running round with a huge boomstick blowing the hell out of everything and anything indescriminately? if so look no further than the x-box

The GC had ZERO releases last month. AND the month of April too! :lol:Very sad.

However it's very unrealistic to say the GC has 'absurd' graphics. Resident Evil 4 currently is the holder of the best graphics of any game created, offically, and that is a GC title. Resident Evil Remake, that was made for the GC back in 2002, has better graphics than any PS2 game recently made and stands very well against new Xbox titles.

Obviously the Xbox has a better library of games though, it's not possible to deny that. None of them interest me mind, and i buy consoles for the games not because i'm a lardiedar fanboy. GC has Resident Evil, and that's pretty much all i have it for.

Im not a fanboy of any system. I have ps2, gamecube and Xbox..... and have played them all.....

However to me Xbox interests me to the point that I keep coming back to play it...... ps2 im lucky to play once a month, gamecube a lot less then that....... Xbox i would play almost daily, due to the fact it has many things I enjoy..... Listening to the music I want to during games....... online play thats good.... amongst others......

However its really personal choice, and I tend to find once you move to using one system to another the controller for the old system becomes quite difficult to get used to once again....

I'm pretty good with all controllers.
Now i have to admit, a feature the PS2 is seriosuly lacking on is definately the ability to play your own music while playing. Like setting up your own radio station in GTA SA. It would have been so simple to impliment into the pS2, and i hate that they don't have it.

For the most part however, i only use my consoles for strict gaming, and i never play online, so as you said it's entirely preferance with what you do with the system, combined of course with what games you like to play and how you want to play them.

Well you are right there, Burnside, but the issue of best graphics is debatable.

One thing I get sick of is people boasting the specs of consles that just don't exsist. Today, for instance, I'm in school looking at the XBOX site and some guy says 'XBOX sucks, Ps2 rules'.

I say, 'Give me one good reason why the PS2 is better than the XB'

To which he says 'Better graphics, faster engine, more memory'

How can people possibly claim any of those things to be true? Whilst the PS2 has a wider libary of games that is all it has going for it. In terms of specs, it has nothing on the XB, which is understandable as it was released later on.

And more memory? IT doesnt even have built in memory and the memory on two cards is a percent of the entire memory of the XB.

Issues of graphics are an issue of common sense.

Case in point, i present the same game on two different consoles. If you cannot tell that San Andreas on the Xbox has much more refined graphics including the ability to see alot more polygons on screen than the PS2 version, you obviously need a head exam.

Another example is the quality of RE4 on GC to the quality of it's port on PS2. Once again, the difference in graphics is so obvious you really do need to be blind in order to see that the GC more than doubles the graphics potential.

Unfortunately, between Xbox and GC is is definately a better of debate since there are really no games to compare between the two. However, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that with hundreds of extra features on the Xbox not to mention an infinitely larger library, the Xbox has a whole is the betetr system.

However, in terms of personal opinion in which games are prefered, i take the GC due to the simple fact it has games i like. This in no way is to suggest the GC is better than Xbox, only as a matter of personal preferance.

Although I do feel sorry for the loyal GC fans - Nintendo has not pulled through for them and is dumping the system in preperation for Revoloutions, which is expected, but unlike XBOX and PS2 it is halting the system all togethor, where as the XBOX and PS2 have releases lined up for years to come.

First of all the PS2 graphics are way lower than the GC.

I have an Xbox and a PS2. I had the PS2 for 2 years before I got the green comet of a system that is the Xbox. While playing Final Fantasy X-2 I would nearly stab myself over the incredibly long load times. Then I got the green box and Halo 2 for Christmas. I expected even longer load times. Once I played it, during the first load time I got up to go get a glass of egg nog. I came back to my dead supersoldier body.

Iwould have to say ps2 is the better console as it seems to have demolished the other 2 in the wars this generation.

These figures are old, from end of 2003, and ps2 had been on the shelves a lot longer, but it gives a sort of general idea, due to the fact the 'boom' period upon first release was coming to an end for nintendo and Microsoft. Add to this the drastic drop in price of the the box (£180-£120) and cube (£140-£90) after only a year and a half or so on the market, and the fact sony's machine only dropped in price drastically last summer, and ladies and gents, i think we have a winner.

When people say Ps2 has better graphics they won't listen to any of the facts or figures you produce. Some people say the PS2 has more memory than the x-box.

XBOX! hands down as my i have in () that i love halo. it is my all time favorite game along with halo2 which are ONLY on the xbox. plus i love the fact that i can do so much with the xbox hardware that with the ps2 was not possible. such as downloadable content - that was a big one for me. even if you beat the game you can still do more. and modding has gotten so much easier and better with the xbox's hardrive. the ability to turn multiplayer levels into masterpieces has had a lasting effect on me.

Halo is avaliable on PC, and Halo 2 will no doubt go the same way

I always think of it this way - Ps2's best game is GTA:SA. XBOX has that, but a better version.

XBOX's best game, Halo 2 - PS2 does not have it.

I prefer XBOX to all other gaming consoles, the main reason being the controller. People normally complain that the original xbox controllers are too big, but my hands are big so they are great.

I love Halo and probably would love Halo 2. It just isn't the same if you were to play it on the PC.

People do complain about the XBOX controllers, but they forget that they PS2 controller has more buttons.

i dont think the xbox controlles are big................... not the ones that come with the console i always thought they were not much bigger than the ps2 contollers......... but you can buy the fatties as i like to call them i think thats the ones there talking about. but i think the xbox controllers are more comfortable than the ps2. i always get cramps in my hands from playing ps2 for to long.... xbox i can play for 2 days straight (done so to, it wasent good for me)

Yeah, I reckon they are also more comfortable. Obviously been brought up before, but the only real thing XBOX could lose the argument against are the ps2 game titles.

actually both contollers have the same amount of buttons i believe. As for GTA being on xbox, thats all well and good... if you don't mind waiting 6 months to play it.

Why watch something in black in white, if its going to be made colour in six months? Why buy something on single, if a few weeks later the album will be out.......

some that i've heard include:
ps3 will be twice as powerful as xbox 360
ps3 will be 10 times more powerful than ps2
ps3 graphics are comparable with the CGI movie final fantasy the spirits within

These all rate very highly on my crap-o-meter, and whenever are mentioned all i have to do is remind people that before ps2 came out we were shown screenhots of 'the getaway' like this

The best thing about gamecube, is it hardly shares any games with the other platforms.... Many of those games being RE!

Yeah, Microsoft and Sony both are making "projections" of what their games may look like. There has been huge arguments over whether the footage shown at E3 was prerendered or not. But they are really estimates of what the consoles can do.

Sony said that the PS3 was 35 times as powerful as PS2
Microsoft said that the xbox360 was 17 times as powerful as Xbox
Some people have said that by looking at the specs that the 360 is probably only about twice as powerful as the Xbox. Which would make the PS3 maybe four-five times as powerful as the PS2. This seems about right because Nintendo said that the Rev will be about three times as powerful as the GC.


But still the PS2 has the worst graphics, yet SquareEnix can still make graphically amazing games on it. You can have the most powerful console, but it doesn't matter if no one takes advantage of it.

That can be a bad thing though, as it means it doesn't share many of the liscences that xbox and ps2 do, thus the low amount of releases.
Also according to speculation, RE5 is most likely to appear on the PS3

Under current technology the XBOX and PS2 are basically equal, however the XBOX does have better playability and Networking Capability.

However the PS3 and XBOX 360 will once again pushthe boundaries of current technology and push our minds further than before. But one console shall reign supreme on its conquest to dominate the market.

Simply the PS3 will be twice as powerful than the XBOX 360 in every department. I am looking forward to both releases but it won't be long until one controls the entire market

i love the x-box, but i'm drawn to the PS2 for the GTA San Andreas, And Link and Mario keeps me in my forever oath to the Nintendo, any way out of the 3 systems I like my cube the games are just fun to play.

What about durability, The PS2 is a wuss

In a test on G4TV show X-Play they did a test on which system could survive punishment. The PS2 broke in the first test I think, and the xbox broke in the last test while the Cube survived all the test and played the games fine.

and to date i'm going through my third PS2 the first one stopped working when my little baby cousin drenched it with soda, the second one stopped working when it fell three feet, 3 FEET of my table. I really got pissed of because the second one was a mod one that could play all region PS2 games and dvd's.
