Haven't played it, but read a recent review which was less than kind. They claimed it was basically just DW4 with a few pointless extras, and should have been an add on rather than a sequel, lacked any new initiatives and the series had become stale

I played it, I liked it. Although each Misao mode is really short now, and no create character mode

They should have kept in the created characters...it is a good game though.

The person who wrote that review was stupid - Repetition is the point. The games are based in a historical context, so there's not much they can do in terms of altering the storyline.
However, given each character now has a unique mission mode, I don't see what they're problem is. I've had it for some time now, and I still have plenty of characters to unlock. They've also made it far harder to unlock some the more powerful items, so there's plenty to keep you going.
And, purely as food for thought...mmm....Xing Cai....

So are all the original characters in this one? When I say original, I mean the ones from DW3. Is the really big fat sumo looking guy in this one? You know, the one that carried that huge mace thing?
What about the dude with the claws?

Yes, with several new additions. The only characters that have ever been dropped from the series are Fu Xi and Nu Wa in the move up from three to four.
....I know I already said it, but mmmm...Xing Cai...
Here, for the sake of arguement, is the entire compliment.

If you think that would get you banned, it's a good thing you didn't post what you were thinking when you selected that avatar.
However, to avoid drifting into such troubled waters...the site I linked to also happens to contain everything you ever wanted to know (or didn't want to know for that matter) about the Three Kingdoms Era. Ingest it all, and you may one day know half as much about it as I do.

I don't think your arogant. All you, Sera and Kuja do is play those games

In fairness, the games don't teach you much unless you take the time to read through the encyclopedia...although 5 does stick vaguely to historical events (the deaths of most of the main characters sticking to the timeline, for example).
That was irritating in 4...I was always astounded by Sun Jian's amazing ability to continue to command the Wu army up to some forty years after his death. Zhuge Liang faking his own death at the Wu Zhang plains was also a twist of irony...
Historically, Zhuge Liang's health did actually fail him at the Wu Zhang plains, and the Shu forces fell into a retreat. Sima Yi, who had already guessed that Zhuge Liang was soon to die from his recent rush job tactics, instantly launched a persuit...however, some of the more zealous Shu officers wheeled around to meet the Wei onslaught - Sima Yi, fearing that the entire withdrawl was yet another ploy by Zhuge Liang, ordered his troops to break off persuit.
Of course, in the game (four, not five), it actually IS a ploy by Zhuge Liang.

Zhuge Liang was overestimated....he was 70% reputation. That's not to say he wasn't an excellent strategist, but I don't think he was on the same level as Sima Yi or Chen Gong.

Zhuge Liang's chief talent was not war, but politics. There were many instances in which he engineered the course of history not on the battlefeild, but off it. By comparrison, Chen Gong was a genius tactician (quite possibly the greatest to have ever lived), though his skill with politics and words was insufficient to control Lu Bu.
Sima Yi, of course, not only directed the ultimate defeat of both Wu and Shu, but set the foundations for his family taking control China. In all honesty, Zhuge Liang's contributions to Shu were never that great - Shu began the weakest of the three nations, and it remained the weakest of the three until its eventual collapse. If anything, it was Jang Wei who breathed life into the dying kindgom of Shu....certainly he acheived far more in the kindgoms dying years than Zhuge Liang ever had.
It has just occured to me that only Sera and I will have any idea what we're now talking about....as this conversation would be far easier to carry out in person, let us post on the failing of Zhuge Liang only if anyone else asks.
For those Dynasty Warriors fans who would enjoy any information on the actual historical events of the three kindgoms, just ask away...historical warfare is a passion of mine, the three kindgoms in particular.
