Hadn't seen a thread for this story (if there is apologies and merge of topic are in order) Otherwise, it's significance is important enough to have its own thread, as it has statements counter to the official 9/11 story, from a man who was a member of the intelligence agency MI5. Text highlights from the link...

Former MI5 agent David Shayler, who previously blew the whistle on the British government paying Al Qaeda $200,000 to carry out political assassinations, has gone on the record with his conviction that 9/11 was an inside job meant to bring about a permanent state of emergency in America and pave the way for the invasions of Afghanistan, Iraq and ultimately Iran and Syria.

"It is in fact a criminal offence to interfere with a crime scene and yet in the case of 9/11 all the metal from the buildings is shipped out to China, there are no forensications done on that metal. Now that to me suggests they never wanted anybody to look at that metal because it was not going to provide the evidence they wanted to show people that it was Al-Qaeda."

"There are so many questions that need to be answered, protocols being overridden within national defense, people actively being stopped from carrying out investigations. This wasn't an accident, they were aware there was intelligence indicating those kind of attacks, there were FBI intercepts saying it in the days before the attacks. When you look at it all, that is a big big intelligence picture and yet these people were crucially stopped from doing their jobs, stopped from trying to protect the American people."

Please explain why he is not credible......
<bleeding_heart>
His every desperate attempts to remain in the spotlight does it for me;

Publicy challenging the government by threatening to reveal more "secrets" (not by letter or telephone through the media).

Attempting to "crucify" himself in Paris.

Threatening to stand against Tony Blair in the last election.

Appearances on comedy shows.

Orchestrating his return to Britain so as to have full media coverage.

Making claim after claim each more startling without backing it up (he says hes gagged of course but only in this country).

But he was a journalist I suppose.

Oh and he was a paperpusher in the British Interlligence service not an FBI/CIA/NSA forensic specialist working in the field.

David Shayler should have been put in front of a firing squad a log time ago.

I won't stake a claim to his legitimacy as I don't know him outside this article. So is he really known in the UK as something of a fraud? Are his credentials overstated, therefore not speaking from actual knowledge and experience?

David Shayler is a typical, money grubbing journalist turned novelist. He wants money, fame and notoriety. Sorry but you have to get up earlier than that to fool this girl.

XSAS, this is a part of the text from the link you posted..are these details valid? It makes no mention of his claims as being either factual or fictional...

..and MI5's occasionally successful but sometimes not operations against the IRA - such as the Bishopsgate bomb in April 1993 which Shayler says MI5 should have prevented.

Shayler says in July 1994 Mossad told MI5 about imminent Hezbollah bombings of Jewish targets in the UK - but the security service ignored the warnings and didn't tell the police. And in Feb/1996 Libyan dissidents tried to blow up Gadaffi in an MI6-funded plot, but failed - Shayler heard of this conspiracy from a contact in SIS.
