Unforgiven
no, i haven't bothered with the mod either.

as for the mod itself, and the rating crap. it may have been in the code, but if it had to be unlocked, well that is up to the user of the game.

And besides the legal limit for sex, is 16 in some contries, but how many kids care? I know of quite a few pre 16 year olds who can safely say they are not virgins.

GTA can even help stop crime!

That was hilarious laugh.gif

I agree, all this commotion over a game makes it more exciting for kids.

Remember Manhunt? It got banned it was so bad, and all that happened was it sold out within weeks. Which is funny because it was a terrible game that nobody was buying before hand hmm.gif
star_child
What was that game that apparently influenced a teenage murderer? Was it not like Manhunt or something?

There are much more violent movies out there, and of course, the violence all around us, like the recent terrorism. We can't hide kids from things like that, so why even try?
Talon
No, the guy might have played Manhunt alot before he murdered someone, but games don't influence people to become murderers. Millions of people have played Manhunt, GTA etc and haven't killed anyone. Violent games might set someone off, but those people were lunatics to begin with and if hadn't been Manhunt or GTA it would have been Die Hard or the latest Chucky movie. Video games cannot turn people into killers, the ones who are inspired enough re-enact these games are already disturbed.
star_child
Oh I totally agree, but thats what the family of the murdered boy said, they blamed the game. It was because it was a copy-cat killing, that mirrored a death in the game. I think that is stupid, one person (who wasn't even old enough to buy the game) decides to copy some murder in a video game, and suddenly they are all taboo rolleyes.gif

I don't remember Manhunt getting banned... I saw it for sale a month or two ago at our gamestop. =\

I liked that game, though. As screwed up as it was.

Personally, I don't think R* has put out a single crappy game.

It might have been just the UK then it was banned. Although plenty of internet sites contined selling it as the laws on the internet are slightly more flexible. I also think second hand stores didn't really care either.

What will kill it IS the rating. Most stores refuse to sell AO rated games. You'll probably only be able to buy it online.

... or maybe at an adult store.

What store are you shopping at? Walmart or Mejiers? That's a completely false statement my friend. rolleyes.gif

Besides, despite being an "Adult" rated game its an very good seller and thus will remain in most mainstream places. No other "Adult" games have sold/ found a market as big as this game, thus they aren't normally sold in your mainstream stores.

Stop confusing our friends across the pond. laugh.gif
Janiel
I'm not confusing anyone... It's not for sale over here. At least, not that I've seen since the rating change.

Things tend to happen differently over here; in Hawaii...
BurnSide
Well it's offical, GTA SA has been given a strict AO Adults Only) rating this side of the pond due to it's 'unlockable sex minigames'.

How freaking stupid.
Janiel
I know, Burns... What they don't seem to get, is that you have to MODIFY the game to access it. You CANNOT just put in a cheat and poof, there it is.

Oh, one more thing Monkyburd, please don't rush out and say I'm wrong. It may be like that where you live, but it's not here.
BurnSide
I know mate.

I can modify just about any PC game to add sex to it.

So stupid. God.
Monkyburd
Oh, well Hawaii's a different story I'd assume. blink.gif Over here on the mainland I can still buy it at three places within a five minute driving radius.

You are wrong however. It will still sell, kids will still play it, and it will still stay on store shelves. People love contraversy original.gif despite what they suggest.

The fact that Hillary Clinton (of all people) has jumped on this topic pisses me off the most however. rolleyes.gif
wrighty
Ill tell you now that I have gta 3 gta vice city and gta san andreas and theres nothing wrong with them I play on them with adult company aswell whats the big deal.

I think it is far too late for people to start critiicising the games content, surely it was looked over and deemed fine for the rating at one time.
I posted this because I though you would all find it a stupid decision to review the game again.

The people who rated it (ESRB?) didnt see it because the scene was hidden
Janiel
It was hidden because it wasn't meant to be in the final product. Some guy went and unlocked the code and made a mod. Oh, and I've found other versions of "Hot Coffee"... some actually have nudity. Full nudity.

BADLY CHOREOGRAPHED NUDITY?!?! I was alright with the drive-bys, mass murder, drugs, swearing, cop-shooting, hookers, and violent fighting,.. but nudity? They've gone too far! rolleyes.gif

I can't stand people who try to censor violence and sex in video games. It's a pointless plight in my opinion.

Goldeneye007 for the N64 had alot more stuff (missions/objectives) in it in the beta version, but the stuff was removed in the final version. However some of the things that were "removed" could still be accessed with a Gameshark. One code, the "All Bonds" code, was published in a gaming magazine as an April fools joke. However this was originally in the game, but when Timothy Dalton didn't want his face in the game, it was removed. By using a gameshark the four multiplayer pics could still be seen, but the characters were gone.

Even if that guy had put in a gameshark-like code, it wasn't meant to be in the final game, and therefore exempt from the ESRB ratings.

GTA sex scandal hits Australia
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, has effectively been banned in Australia because of hidden sex scenes.
Shops have been ordered to stop selling the blockbuster game after the country's ratings board stripped it of its official classification.

The row is over graphic sexual content in the game which can be unlocked with software created by a fan.

Leading US stores stopped selling the game after it was rated as an adults only title due to the graphic scenes.

Hot fuss

San Andreas was originally classified as a MA15+ title, meaning it could only be sold to gamers aged over 15.
But the revelations about the hidden sexual content have led Australia's Office of Film and Literature Classification to revoke the game's rating.

This means that the game can no longer be sold, hired or advertised in Australia.

"Businesses that sell or hire computer games should remove existing stocks of this game from their shelves immediately," said the director of the ratings board, Des Clark.

"Parents are strongly advised to exercise caution in allowing children continued access to the game, particularly if they have might have access to the 'Hot Coffee' modification."

The Hot Coffee modification was created by a Dutch fan of the game, who found a way to unlock explicit sexual scenes in San Andreas.

US concerns

GTA's publisher, Take Two, initially denied the scenes were part of the game but later admitted they were contained in the retail version of San Andreas.

The case has caused an uproar in the US, where the game was re-classified as an adults only title, leading big retail chains to pull it from the shelves.

US politicians, such as Senator Hilary Clinton, have called for an investigation into the issue and a woman has filed a lawsuit over the game.

The team behind San Andreas, Rockstar Games, has stopped producing the current version of the game and is working on a version without the controversial content.

GTA: San Andreas was one of the best-selling games of 2004. The title already has an 18 age rating in the UK.

God, what you ratings board guys make of game's like True Love and Escalation hmm.gif probably take Japan off the map and pretend it doesn't exist.

In Fable you can marry a man. ohmy.gif Quick give it an AO rating!!!!!
There are also nude codes in all sorts of games. (Tomb Raider, DOA, etc.)
I've just never heard of games having their ratings revoked. What about Leisure Suit Larry, those have been around forever.

I'm surprised they haven't banned Sims 1 and 2, not only can you get same sex couples, but you can make them have sex too.

You can only find it in the PC version right?... the xbox and PS2 editions can't be played around with can they?

QUOTE
Nope, because it's not even in the coding. As far as I know, they wanted the sex games in the PC version, but were taken out at the last second, unfortunately, they weren't taken FULLY out.

WRONG! Actually that coding is in the PS2 version buts is harder to aquire becuase you need to buy action replay codes..... the cd and all that. The thing is that it was found on the PC version first because as we all know, its easier to edit things in PCs than it is to edit things in a COPYRIGHTED DISC LIKE THE PS2! but anyway......2Cents

No more 'Hot Coffee' sex for GTA
Rockstar, maker of a video game which caused controversy after secret sex scenes were found in it, has issued a fix to disable access to the scenes.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the best-selling game of 2004, were unlocked by a fan who created software called Hot Coffee.

Installing Hot Coffee allowed people to play an explicit "mini game".

As a result, the US Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) changed the rating to Adults Only.

The change meant, however, that many shops were forced to stop stocking it as they have a policy of not selling adult-rated content.

In Australia, the game was stripped of its official classification, meaning that shops could no longer sell the title.

"The Hot Coffee scenes were not intended to be part of the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas experience," read a statement from the Rockstar, the game's developer.

"If your copy of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for the PC has been altered by the unauthorised Hot Coffee download circulating on the internet, or you wish to prevent your version from being so altered, download and install the patch for your version of the game."

From the start

Before the ESRB's investigation, the game had an M for mature rating that meant it could be sold to those aged 17 and above.

Initially the game's publisher, Take Two, said the explicit scenes were the result of modifications made to the game by Hot Coffee.
It later admitted it had inserted the secret scenes, following the ESRB investigation.

The storm of protest over the game even attracted the attention of US senator Hillary Clinton.

She called for an investigation into who was responsible for including the scenes in the game.

In the UK, the game was originally granted an 18 age rating and that rating remains the same.
