Best-selling game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is being investigated in the US over reports that it contains sexually explicit mini-games hidden in its code.
The controversy surrounds a download available on the net which is said to unlock secret sex scenes.
Game makers Rockstar said they were complying with the inquiry, by the industry body that sets age ratings.
If the findings were to lead to an adult-only age rating, it could limit sales from major retail outlets.
Explicit acts
The Grand Theft Auto series of crime games have proved phenomenally popular. They are credited with kick-starting the driving-and-shooting genre of gaming.
The PlayStation 2 version of San Andreas sold more a million copies in the first nine days that it was on sale in UK last year.
But the game has also attracted criticism from those who say it encourages gratuitous violence as players immerse themselves in an underground world of LA gangs and gun-ridden ghettos.

this whole situation is pointless. Had any of those who oppose seen these scenes, they wouldn't be commenting. Also, it's rated M for mature. It's not for kids anyway. It's the parents faults for buying it. Stupid people, tsk.

Those games ARE in SA, though. Though they aren't playable. They are all hidden in the game's code. Few people have actually been able to unlock them, and release mods allowing use. And yes, I found it. And no, it's not worth it.

Yes- It is up to the parents and retailers to prevent people below that age from aqquiring a copy; It is not the companys job.
As for my copy of GTA:SA...I found it. Yes.

I think it is far too late for people to start critiicising the games content, surely it was looked over and deemed fine for the rating at one time.
I posted this because I though you would all find it a stupid decision to review the game again.

As always - And since at the age of 18 you can already buy porn, I see no problem with you seeing some badly animated sex scenes in a video game.

As soon as you have access to the internet you can watch porn, for free.
Good as that sounds, it somehow isn't right

Badly animated sex scenes? I can't be arsed playing that game anymore.

I find this is all blown WAY out of proportion. The group which found out that this "Hot Coffee" mod existed has ALWAYS had it out for Rockstar, especially their leading game, GTA. It should be acknowledged that people actaully have to make a conscious decision as to whether they wish to see this sexually explicit material or not, because they have to download a modification to view it. Rockstar should be in NO WAY responsible for these peoples actions.

Nope, because it's not even in the coding. As far as I know, they wanted the sex games in the PC version, but were taken out at the last second, unfortunately, they weren't taken FULLY out.

Its obviously not a game for young people, it is rated accordingly and its advertises what goes on in the game, if people dont want their children buying it then dont let them its pretty damn simple!

Lame. Parents need to be more involved in what their kids are doing instead of asking the government to regulate entertainment so they don't have to.
As a mother, I would never let my kids play or watch GTA. As an adult, I must admit I own GTA, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas. They're fun games.
People should chill.

If you must put it that way. I think of it as refusing to distribute a torn up picture of a naked woman. Because, that's basically all it is. Really, really, crappy porn. If someone got off on it, they should be shot.
Besdies, Ed, do you have the PC version of SA? That's the only version where the 'Sex game' is actually playable.

It's so lame that they are getting riled up over something that wasn't meant for the final product. >_>

I don't think they'll go out of business, because the game is still going to be bought one way or another. And I think it's pretty stupid that the government is getting involved in this, seeing as the game was already rated mature and if the parents buy it for their children, then they are fine with it. This is just more publicity for Rockstar and GTA.
[edit] Now that GTA's Adults only, it means that Rockstar would be able to do just about anything in their next game. Although I heard they're taking out that clip and still leaving it at Adults only. [/edit]

They complain about the violence in these games, and about how it is affecting children, and how it influences them to go and do the same thing. I think there is more chance of kids reenacting scenes of violence than sex...
I understand how parents don't want their kids to look at 'sexually explicit scenes' and I think the point most of you are making is so true; don't buy the game then!
It is made for adults, and I think they can handle 'crappy porn'. Isn't it more the parents at fault here, for letting their kids play it? I mean, it is illegal for them to play it, right?

I don't think it's illegal to play when you're underaged. I think it's illegal to buy. Anyway, I agree with all you points, S_C. And the ESRB agrees with that too. It's the government that came in and made them change the rating.

I read once of German couple in their 50s who had been married for 20 years and never had kids but always wanted them. They went to GP, only for the GP to find out they couldn't have kids because they were from strick Christain families who had sheltered them from the whole 'where babies come from' issue. The couple had never heard of sex.
Scary... but true

There really is something wrong with the world. It is OK for all these rules to protect kids in school (when all they need is a good kick up the ass!) but their little fragile minds are too precious to be corrupted with video games blah blah blah...

Hold on a minute...........The game allows you to slaughter innocent old grannies for their cash by bludgeoning them to death and people are worrying about a bit of sex.
To quote south: "Wow, parents dont notice violence when theres sex to worry about".
Kids will always know about and find sexual material(especial these days of the internet). You never seem to get the irony that you're doing nothing but increasing the popularity of this game by screaming about it.
And am I the only one who has the game but cant be bothered to check out the hot coffee mod?
