Actually, subliminal messaging is a pretty cool topic.. I don't know if it's been done before or not though.

Should put it in the mysteries of the mind forum though. original.gif

Subliminal messaging does actually work, although generally the "responses" that you get from the messages lasts only a fraction of a second, and usually aren't even noticable consciously. Thus, someone sending you evil messages through subliminal messaging is a bit extraordinary, and pretty much impossible. original.gif

I wasn't allowed to watch movies or cartoons with magic in it. I wasn't allowed to watch Freddy Cougar movies til I was 21. geek.gif

Well subliminal messages HAVE been used by the media around the time of WW2 I think, but they are (obviously) outlawed by now.

thanx this is a silly thread and i didn't even expect any one to answer it
BurnSide
If it was that silly, it would have been removed. wink2.gif
As it is, i think subliminal messaging at the very least is an interesting topic that doesn't get enough attention. Is it not feasable that we by things due to hidden messages commercials are planting in our heads? Maybe commercials are fighting a war with our brains, which is why we are a society with such short attention spans and so indecisive.
iac_tracker
yeah i heard something like the navy or army use to use subliminal messages in there commercials to get people to join the army

is this true??
BurnSide
laugh.gif Well i saw the spoof in the Simpsons, but i have no idea whether it is factual or not.
I do know that i have no passion to suddenly off and join the navy after watching their commercials though. original.gif

Hey wow, I thought this top was going to be locked ages ago. I guess subliminal messages puts this above the class of the regular blog entry, eh thumbsup.gif

Anyway, subliminal advertising may be illegal, but there are still plenty of other "under-the-radar" marketing ploys. I studied some of it at uni last semester. For example, the manufacturers of the Vodka Cruiser. They hold free parties where they get well-known DJ's, and they have free Cruisers given out throughout the night. The idea being that if people have a good time, subconsciously they'll equate that good time with drinking the Vodka cruisers. I know people who have been to these parties and have found themselves (knowingly or not) buying Cruisers at the shop every weekend after that for the next six months (even if they were the typical beer and bourbon type of guys).

As for horror films, I don't think there are subliminal messages in them......

All the best,

Aww, poor kid. I was allowed to watch whatever I wanted as a kid lol.

Don't worry kid. In another 5 to 7 years (depending on your state laws), you'll be an adult and able to move out, get a job, pay bills, worry about taxes, insurance, price of gas, who to vote for, etc, etc, etc.

Oh, and you can watch, read, or eat anything you desire, and no one can tell you otherwise. As long as its legal.

Cheers!

hey it won't be that long till i move out only 3 more years thumbup.gif gunsmilie.gif
