CHANGHUN: A local tourist claims to have seen and video-taped the Tianchi Lake monster in the Changbai Mountain, in Jilin Province, Xinhua reported on Sunday. On Thurday morning, Zhen Chanchun, 52, and his daughter and son-in-law were standing enjoying the scenery in the western side of the mountain. Suddenly, towards the middle of the lake, ZHeng saw a strange, black object emerging from the water and disturbing the calm surface. "I was so excited and shouted loudly that there was a monster in the lake. All the tourists by the lake stared at it,"" he said.

Keen video buff Zheng grabbed the camcorder and managed to get the whole sighting on film, until whatever it was in the lake vanished beneath the water. His son-in-law also took pictures with his zoom lens. Zheng said that when they climbed the top of the mountain above Tianchi Lake at about 10am, it was covered with thick fog that suddenly gave way to bright sunshine. The water emerged as clear as mirror, ideial for photography. Zheng's film lasts almost a minute and in it a black object can be seen emerging from the water in the same place three times, each time lasting just a few seconds, before it vanished and does not reappear.

"We were more than 1,000m away to it's difficult, but i would say what we saw above the water was about the size of the head of an adult ox," Zheng was quoted as saying.
Changbai is the highest mountain in North-east Asiam at 2,189m above sea level. Tianchi lake is the deepest mountain lake and the largest crater lake in China.

Yes, the pic's clear, but I think it's a swimming elephant. I believe I have seen this one disproved before.

And we've gone over the rotting basking shark photo shown on that page countless times! laugh.gif

because that picture looks like someone just threw a rock into water.

I think it is chairman Mao out for one of his famous swims, he could very well be the monster in question as he in some sense is a monster.

Tianchi lake is the deepest mountain lake and the largest crater lake in China.

If this lake was formed in a caldera it could be part of some kind of geothermal activity.

The fact that the object surfaced 3 times in the same place and the ripples on the water are more or less concentric may indicate that the object was inanimate.
isis-999
Still it does not look like a lake monster,at best i think it is a log.
eveningsky339
How could that be mistaken for a lake monster? hmm.gif

Looks like a log, or an elephant, or maybe an intricate combination of the two.
