I received couple of pics of this snake through e-mail, it looks like it gobbled up something quite big. Is it an Anaconda? Somebody please fill me in.
Thanks,
BC

Looks like a huge python that's just swallowed a young deer or pig or something.

I think Ruby gets a full 10 points it looks like an African Rock Python to me just after eating an Antelope or something similar.

Thanks Redneck, I googled yesterday and found this story, I was about to post the link but I saw you already beat me to it.
The fangs of this snake look really mean, I guess they are used to hook on to the prey. I wonder if they eject any kind of neurotoxins into their prey to paralyze them or merely suffocate and crush them to death with brute force.

A python's bite is not poisonous but would be very painful.
The way I read that article I think it implied that the snake was dead after getting tangled in that electric fence, so they probably cut it open just out of curiosity.
QUOTE
The snake in this picture had eaten a full grown Impala ewe and, sadly, caught itself in an electric fence.

I had one just like that as a pet for over 10 years. I mostly fed it "roadkill" cats and rabbits. As far as pythons go, these are usually more agressive than Indian and Burmese Rock Pythons, which make better pets. Mine was no exception.
Yep, people will always cut them open to see what they have eaten. That's exactly what happened which led to the ridiculous recent myth of the alligator-eating, "exploding" python.
