Wel, I dont know exactly how many threads have been done on this show before, nor do I care, but anyways, I was just wondering what people thought of this show. I find it to be very humorous. Whenver I need a good laugh, I pop in a SOuth Park DVD and go through 21 minutes of chaos and humor
<bleeding_heart>
Well you cant beat Cartman, as much as you'd like to. I've got every episode and nearly all are hilirious.
TheCrow
Use to watch it quite a bit but I haven't found a channel that shows the new seasons in the UK.

The one where they parody-ied (sp?) Lord of the Rings with Buttons been Gollum and the Ring been a Porno was great.
BurnSide
It's on about 4 times a day here.
The first time i saw it i was on a trip to Canada in '98. It was bizarre. I moved here later that year and got into it alot. But after a few years it got old and now it's pretty much the same thing over and over.
Hotoke
it lost its magic like the simpsons. at least there is still family guy
BurnSide
Except i've seen every episode over 20 times. God, camaaaaan new season!!
jpalz
Dude, I love South Park!!!! Bad thing is, the episodes shown here have a crappy Spanish dub that kills the show, specially Cartman's voice.

My fav chapter would be the one when they go to Afghanistan and Cartman has a duel with Bin-Laden grin2.gif
The Krow
I think that all of these shows have become stale and all of the episodes are really the same jokes just in a different setting...But Cartmans rascist attitude ("my mom says theres alot of black people in china"... you just can't beat that line!) is really what holds the show together...
<bleeding_heart>
I think this sums cartman up

Mr. Wyland: I see that you've already had a lot of interesting debates this year. [points to a chart with three debates on it] Pro-Choice vs. Cartman, Pro-Gun Control vs. Cartman, a-and People Against the Clubbing of Baby Seals vs. Cartman. And apparently, the winner of all your debates so far has been… Cartman.

Cartman: Thaaat's ri-ight.

Kyle: Cartman doesn't always win! He just gets pissed off and goes home so we can't debate anymore!

Class: [including Timmy] Yeah.

Cartman: Nah-ah! I'm just a better debater than you guys!

Stan: You don't even know what you're debating about half the time!
Cartman: Yes I do!

Craig: No you don't!

Cartman: Oh yeah?! Well, screw you guys, I'm going home! [rises from his seat, heads for the door, and exits]
brittish_gurl
I actually love that show...... but my parents are weird about it an whenever they walk in when I'm watching it they tell me to turn it off. It's just about 4 boys and it's very funny... with adult humor..... I love it!

Yeah, I've watched maybe twice in the last year or so.

Yeah, when does the new season come out?
RH2097
I hate that show. Sure, it was cool when I was in grade 7.. But after like 6 or 7 years of constant crap it has become a heap.
Dancing_Dumplings
Cartman used to be my favorite grin2.gif but the Butters came wub.gif sadly I dont have cable, so I borrow from friends grin2.gif One of my favorite episodes it the one about Paris Hilton tongue.gif oh how I hate that woman laugh.gif

laugh.gif Stupid Spoiled Whore! where you can buy anything you need to be just like her! laugh.gif
Dog Demon
Never liked it that much, but I have seen a few episodes.

"I'm gayer than you, you're straight as a highway!"

"Oh my God, you killed Kenny!"
Shakezulah
i have watched this show from the beginning. i love it so much. although some of the newer episodes have become a little of the same thing, theres still plenty of new stuff that keeps me watching. i liked the new season that just ended. one of the best episodes from it was probably the season finale which was a christmas story with stan and he find a bunch of animals in the woods. they want stan to help them, so he does, but later finds out that all the animals are satanists and theyre trying to birth the spawn of satan. laugh.gif instant classic right there.
AztecInca
Its pretty good and is still on down under but its not nearly as good as it used to be. But it is still good for some laughs!
Subtemperate
I enjoy south park, and have seen every episode. The difference between South Park and the others, is that South park uses its weird sense of gross out humour to provide a different slant in social commentary, whereas the other cartoons are just for laughs.
AtticusBlueprint
Are you kidding me!?The show has gotten stale, the show has gotten better as time went by.South Park is awesome.

One of my favorite episodes it the one about Paris Hilton

That was one of the best episodes, also one of the newest thumbsup.gif

Paris Hilton (leaving the stage): Gha! Gimme some of that! [grabs a beer, throwing up, and her purse with her dog in it]
Paris Hilton (sounding stupid): Where's my dog?

Wendy- I dont get it, what does she do?
Girl- She's totaly rich!
Wendy- But what does she do?!

"Anyway, I'm pleased to be here in Gouth Dark to announce the opening of my brand new store, a store where girls can buy everything they need to be just like me! (store is unveiled) Stupid Spoiled Whore!" -Paris Hilton

[about Butters]
Driver:[to Paris] Paris, I believe that is somebody's child.
Paris: I want it! I WANT IT!!!!!

<bleeding_heart>
The parents tell butters if he can get $x million mining in the yard he can stay and he goes out and tries.
Mad Manfred
ROFL, I love South Park!!!

Anyone see the latest episode where Stan is the boy in the red poof ball hat tries to help the woodland critters who turn out to be satanists? laugh.gif

"A special time a special year it's the woodland critter Christmas! Hail Satan!" laugh.gif
<bleeding_heart>
Yeah lol and its just Cartman reading the story to have a go at Kyle.
Shakezulah
did anyone see the newer one with that left-hand killer dude? that one was hilarious. especially when the other "phsycics" and Cartman were having those phsycic battles and making all those wierd noises. laugh.gif
jpalz
Dude, I wanna see those chapters!!! I dunno how much I gotta wait to see those in Chile, and with a crappy Spanish dub angry.gif devil.gif
Shakezulah
i wanna watch your spanish dub just to see how funny the voices are. theres always only like male for all the male characters and one female for all the female characters doing the voices. its so stupid but funny at the same time.
jpalz
You're right about the one male voice for all male characters, but the dub is crappy, kills the show. They even change the dirty words for other lame ones!!! Oh God...

Now, the spanish dub for the Simpsons' is way better than the original grin2.gif
Ruby
I love south park i like the one where they hire the Lord of the rings movie thats a cool one tongue.gif Oh and the movie rocks
kassumi
I used to like the show...2 years ago. Now i hate it, it just makes me sick. Perhaps it was more a draw when i was younger because it was something new. But as i've grown up i just see it as a nasty piece of work.
And the brit kid...WE DON'T TALK LIKE THAT

My fav chapter would be when Cartman is sent to the fat-camp. Anybody remember that one? When Cartman is selling chocolates inside the fat camp...

*A kid is crying*

Cartman: What's wrong Chad?
Chad: It's just that everybody hates me cuz I'm fat *cries*

Cartman gets closer to Chad

Cartman: You know Chad? You need a friend.
Chad: Really?
Cartman: Yeah. A chocolate friend. *pulls out a candy bar* Mr. Candy Bar doesn't judge by the way you look.

Chad picks the candy and eats it in 2 seconds, just to continue crying.

Cartman: Good Chad. That's just been 4 dollars.

Chad pays him

LOL laugh.gif

the best epsiode by far was when all the kids were taken over by the ninja and anime craze, annd butters got a shuriken in his eye. Then they didn't want to send him to the hosptal(for fear of losing their 20 dollar weapons off ebay)so they take fur and dress him up as a dog.Butters than goes to the hospital and the guy says"man i sure wish i could help this poor dog, but im a people doctor."And the anime cutscenes were the best. laugh.gif

My favorite episode is with paris hilton. When all of her animals kill themselves and what not. I thought that was hilarious.
TheCrow
I like the LOTR parody and the one where Cartman becomes Steve Irwin and sticks his thumb up animals butt holes...
JackBauer
I think Season 7 was alright, but Season 8 was the rebirth of the show. Every episode on Season 8 was hilarious. For those of you who havent seen any of the new ones, the funniest episodes are AWESOM-O, Something Wallmart This Way Comes and Woodland Critter Christmas. Well, actually, every episode was the best,... and for those of you who are wondering, South Park Season 9 starts March 9th and Season 5 comes out on DVD on February 22nd

lmao that was a great ep. I loved the part when they were at the crime scene and the real killer came up and said "would you like to see my cotton panties?" Just the way he said it was really funny. I agree that some of the newer ones have gotten a bit dull, but I still enjoy them. My faves are the one with JLo and Ben Affleck, and the one where Cartman buys an amusment park.

Someone mentioned Family Guy earlier, the new episodes start May 1st thumbsup.gif
Mad Manfred
While Season 8 was good it was probably the weakest of the series...still had me in stiches though thumbsup.gif
Subtemperate
Season 8 was by far better then season 7.....
JackBauer
Well, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of the show, did saw during Season 7 that they were starting to run out of ideas for the show, but one day, after sitting around and thinking of ideas, they came up with all the season 8 episodes.... I think the Season 8 episodes were pretty good (and, you get to see Kennys full face for the first time ever on TV)
Andy_R
I think the show mas managed to stay fresh over the years.
Woodland Critter Christmas had me rolling with laughter.

I've never seen an episode I didn't like. Fantastic show.
michele
I've seen very few episodes, as it was broadcasted very late. I saw the first movie though. thumbsup.gif It is a very weird cartoon, very very. Funny, but not to be bought on DVD.

Anime cutscenes, you say?! Like what?
Novo
The show never gets old, they always parody current events.

The episode is they get their hands on some ninja weapons, and play ninja...and when they play and use their imaginations they go into a street figher type animation..... and occassionally they stop playing and it comes out of it....

The episdoe is great, as it also brings up the Janet Jackson "slip" and how blind society can be...
Dog Demon
On the anime "FLCL", they did a little spoof on South Park by drawing in that style for a few seconds.

Hey peoples, thanks for that great discussioon on south park - I am studying it as part of a media course and have been struggling to get any real opinions of the show apart from, 'yeah, it's cool!', so it was great to hear all of your thoughts. Any more comments would be welcomed - I need to know what you think! xxx grin2.gif
JackBauer
Ahh... well the show is definitely very creative and unique... although many people disagree, I believe that South Park stays original by making parodies of currant events.. like, with having the freedom to vote, Trey and Matt made an episode that covered that, but did it in a comedic way (Douche And Turd was the name of the episode).

All in all, South Park is one of those shows that will never get dull because of its ability to cover currant events... as long as there are currant events and scandels going on in the world, South Park will be around... Simpsons has started to lose its luster (at least I believe so) but I dont think South Park has missed a step.
edye*

They do have the ability to satirise everything in a totally ridiculous way - the one about the roman catholic church was hilarious - I think the most recent series (that we have had in the uk anyway) has definitely been the most subversive - the one about paris hilton was so disgusting I almost thought they had gone too far, but I think the animation style, because it is so crude and basic, kind of allows them to get away with it, where something like family guy and the simpsons is too concerned with realism to be able to take it to that level. The great thing about the Paris Hilton episode is that, although it is obviously a parody, it isn't too far from the truth! It is the secret to South Park's success I think.
