I usually pig out on Oreos or drink a can of Sprite on weekends, But I was really starting to think: Does this stuff even taste good? Sprite has absolutely no desireable flavor to my cravings, Yet its very desireable as if theres something inside thats making it addictive. The same goes with food products like Oreos. I don't really taste anything that could even compare to an oven baked chocolate cake, Yet alone chocolate. But its desireable? Is there an ingredient that is being hidden or what?

I heard the same rumor about Oreo's about adding in addictive stuff to make you eat more. Not to sure about it though.

I never read anything about it, I was really just thinking about it. Even worse that the milk I drank with it probably had steroids in it.

I am a definite soda addict so I know for sure they put addiciting stuff in soda. Usually I can't go 3 hours without a soda or else my throat drives me nuts, every other drink just doesn't do it without the bubbly taste of a soda.
I dont like chocolate so I never have gotten addicted to Oreos.

Well I hope you're not drinking Diet Soda every 3 hours. Aspertame will kill ya.

The bubbles in the soda overactivate the glands in your throat hence, no other drink can "quench your thirst".

Actually, I have. It depends on whatever 24 pack is in the fridge. And I usually finish the 24 pack in 2-3 days. Also I've become addicted to the diet coke taste so I buy that often.
Hmm.. lol.

Regretably, I am physically addicted to soda.
Anyone who drinks coffee or high caffiene sodas and have suddenly gone without will know what I am talking about.
Without regular intake of caffiene, I start developing massive headaches, almost like migraines that are so bad I can't even think about going to bed and trying to sleep. Caffiene does something to the brain or the blood vessels in the brain that make it hurt when you flush the caffiene out of your system.

I disagree, though a nice ice Cold pepsi is refreshing, it doesn't quench my thrist. The only thing I've drank that's ACTUALLY done that is water. Nothing else. Though, as a lot of people here know; I am a Pepsi addict, I don't think I'm quite ready to say they are doing something backstage to make sure you keep coming back for more. I drink a lot more than Pepsi, though that is my favorite. So, my personal conclusion, it's something in your mind that makes you want more. Whether it's the taste, or that you're a consumer whore. It's all in the mind.

Caffeine is an ingredient of many soft drinks, as well as tea and coffee. There is no doubt that manufacturers of soft drinks try to make the flavor such that people enjoy it and will continue to buy it. Hardly some kind of conspiracy, though. Just good business. I guess that the steak houses try to make the steaks (and salads, and baked potato's with sour cream and chives, and deserts, and . . . and . . . ) as tasty as they can too, and for the same exactly reasons . . . to keep people coming back for more. As far a thirst quenching goes, nothing works as well for me as iced water.

I'd really recommend nobody drink diet soda. Especially considering aspartame was passed by the FDA due to Donald Rumsfeld and his using his political clout and connections as head of G.D. Serle.
Apparently, those who spoke out against aspartame use were replaced by doctors who would approve it (and conveniently receive huge salaries and benefits afterwards).
But hey, they've got Splenda now, so no more brain disorders, strokes, dementia, cancer, or arthritis! At least...not from your diet soda.

I'm with you there. If I go more than half a day without a pot of coffee my body starts to ache, my head feels heavy, and my eyes are sensitive to light. I've been a nonstop coffee drinker since I first start drinking mini-mugs of it at age 7. Every once in a while I will be in a position where coffee isn't available, and I'm a wreck.
But caffeine itself is already considered an addictive drug.

One of my friends John went cold turkey for two weeks not having a Starbucks he said that it was because he didn't have the money. My Mom say's it was probably his mother's doing.

I don't think that it's hidden ingrediants I just think that it might be carbs and stuff like that. I don't carve chocolate or chips anymore like I used to.

I don't think its addictive flavors but rather an ingredient that makes your mind crave it. I believe the same thing/idea is thought to be in some fast food, like *cough* McDonalds

Yes it's an ingredient called caffiene. Caffiene is addictive, and for food products they can add something called Monosodium Glutamate, or MSG, which gives meat a more appealing taste.

I just switched to an organic clean diet about 2 weeks ago, So I stopped drinking coffee & sodas (along with a lot of other unhealthy products). Wow, I had the worst caffiene withdraw...
Three full days of heavy pounding headaches leaving me walking around because the throbbing was more clear when I was laying down or sitting down. truely was a pretty bad sight. So I can relate.

I practically live off of soda, it makes up the majority of what I drink. Sometimes I'll go for a whole week drinking nothing but coke. I think it made me develope this dislike for water, I don't like to really drink water that much anymore, but occasionally I drink an ice tea, or gatorade. Another thing is that during summer break, I'll only eat frozen pizza, potatoe chips, and the occasional bacon and eggs....

I'm very unhealthy technically, but I feel great

MSG , the intentional Nicotine for food.QUOTE
In the book he wrote, an expose of the food additive industry called The Slow Poisoning of America, (www.spofamerica.com ), he said that MSG is added to food for the addictive effect it has on the human body.
Even the propaganda website sponsored by the food manufacturers lobby group supporting MSG at
http://www.msgfacts.com/facts/msgfact12.html explains that the reason they add it to food is to make people eat more.
A study of elderly people showed that people eat more of the foods that it is added to. The Glutamate Association lobby group says eating more benefits the elderly, but what does it do to the rest of us?http://www.rense.com/general52/msg.htm http://www.nomsg.com/harmful.html

I am an enemy of MSG, but still find myself drawn to it's salty/sugary herion. I am finding more and more with each year that goes by more and more food is riddled with crap that does us no good, even the "health" food today is full of crap. The only way to go in my eyes is to buy fresh food and cook it yourself, never buy anything ready-packed or even from a supermarket or shop for that matter. With a decent cook book and an organic food supplyer anyone could eat whatever they want. As for soda, i haven't had any for 6 months now and no-longer need or crave it, the only problem is the fact that bad-soda ingredients are in FRUIT JUICE now!!!what next???
the food issue on our planet is too serious as it is for it to get any worse, people of the earth need to join together in the name of health and nutrition, and re-educate those addicted souls who crave chemicals rather than nutrients.

With you all the way on this. You wouldn't believe how tired and drowsy I was, substituting coke for a glass of water. I feel so much better and more alive on an organic diet.
Also, There are more organic products arising. I know some say they're organic but they're not, So you got to check whats on the label for the most part. I personally get some of my food from the amish. Who to trust more?
