I have a serious question and I would like it if both sides weighed in on this issue in a mature manner.
I have noticed that every traumatic event has become a conspiracy. Doubtless some were (the Nazi Holocaust is an example), but does it really have to be true that all of them are like this?
Please give me your responses on why everything seems to be a conspiracy these days.

Great question, here is an answer:

Some people are crazy, insensitive nuts and need to be paranoid.
They love the idea of the government screwing them over and feel they have to tell the world about it.
People love inevitable doom e.g. the NWO...yeah right.

A lot of people don't like to take things at face value, they think that beneath the surface there is always someting going on that the general populus aren't aware of. Maybe this is due to their distrust of people, most particularly those with power, maybe they just like to think they know a bit more about what's going on in the world than the rest of us, or maybe they just saw that duff movie with mel Gibson too many times. Either way, every big event in the world has a conspiracy theory attached to it, and doubtless always will

Maybe the amount of conspiracy theories would stop if everyone visited their local doctor more often and always turned up for school.

Well I do work for the NWO...

Some people have a kind of tunnel vision: they're unable to understand that human beings are involved in these events, and they just see everything that happens as an opportunity to try to work it into their particular Theory of Everything, as an intellectual exercise. It's either the New World Order, or the Illuminati, or those darned reptilians: and everything can be fitted into the pattern somehow.

Who really knows. Truth is stranger than fiction sometimes. When it comes to people in power, I believe that statement is very true.

Just for the sake of argument, if the truth is stranger than fiction, in the case of conspiracy theories, how do we tell the difference?

You never will!
That's why these arguments between Conspiracy theorists and.... whatever the opposite is (realists??) can never truly be laid to rest. Both sides are sure of their view point and can provide a sufficient amount of evidence to convince themselves and others, but not enough to categorically prove themselves correct.
If you could tell the difference, surely there would be no conspiracy theories, or no credible ones at least

My guess is because all of our governments have a tendancy to falsify or withhold information that we (the public) consider to be valuable information, even though it is in their best interest...hence the reason that the government is quite possibly the biggest 'bad guy' out there, and gets the blame on almost everything that happens...

The answer is simple. It's the boy who cried wolf syndrom. When you do your own investigative research rather than getting your reality constructed for you by the mainstream media, you will find out that government sponsored terrorism is the way the world works. The majority of the "big" attacks are carried out through agent provacateurs, working for a government undercover in a group of real terrorists. Of course thier are real terrorists out there, but they are not a real threat. Anyone at the social order level the mojority of my fellow forumites, will not have a clue. They are the worker bees. Why would you expect to know what's really going on behind the scenes. Know your place, shut your face.

It's hard to comprehend why a government would want to hurt their own people. Think about it this way. Say you are the leader responsible for protecting the country from outside threats. Your country has to many freedoms, and not enough security, and this allows your populace to easily fall victim to people sneaking around and carrying out crimes. Your population doesn't know the threat they are in, and are not willing to give up some of their freedoms in exchange for security. Of course you as the leader know what's best or at least you think you do, so you carry out attacks on innocent people and blame the attacks on terrorists. The scared public will then beg you to protect them from the outside threat. You will be able to take away the freedoms that put your nation at risk and intorduce more security which your public will demand. So in the end, killing the innocent people was the nessasary sacrafise you had to make, to make your country a better place.

To answer your question. Governments have attacked their own populations before, and they will do it again.

A conspiracy exists because all the evidence gathered is never fully shared with the general public, that will create curiosity. It will also create a form of deceit, who ever withholds evidence or information creates deceit.

When an entire population or people reley soley on there goverment for the truth,and believe it, good bye concpieracy. How ever to many people swallow have truths and accept what they are told and never question it.

If there is conflicting evidienc and the goverment says no don't look we already figued it out for you,people move on. Some like to look at the real eviedanc and dig deeper. One example I know hollywood, but the movie Erin Brocovich good example of questioning and finding truth. ENRON another one.

My 2 cents

It's true - the conspiracy nuts make up all sorts of stories and make accusations right after the event without a shred of evidence, and denounce anyone who says they are lying.....the Government are indeed those conspiracy nuts!!
Why so many people blindly agree with these conspiracies without caring about the total lack of evidence, or that they fabricate false evidence, and hide and destroy actual evidence, is beyond me!!

I tend to believe that being paranoid about the government would be silly IF only we didn't know all of the things they have done in secret against their own people (speaking here of the American government. The Tuskegee experiments, the tests that the government admits to only after all the partipants are dead...the tests in the Nevada deserts that caused cancer for so many unsuspecting people, who in the end were nothing more than government guinea pigs. The list goes on, if not for all that I would say sure trust the government, but with what they admit to, can you imagine the things they withold?
