I was looking at a website this morning and captured these pictures, tell me what you think.. Could that be Nessie in the right hand corner? I can't tell if it is a boat or not.

Jul 17 2005, 11:38 PM
Do you mean right hand corner of the first picture, the trouble with this camera is that it is so far away it is difficult to make anything out with any accuracy.
matthewgoad
Jul 17 2005, 11:49 PM
Yes just the first picture, the others were to show that it wasn't a fixed object.. But it doesn't look like a boat.

Jul 18 2005, 05:19 AM
To me it definately looks like something, if you examine it in detail, you'll notice there is a definite trail of water behind it, and little bumps above or possibly just below the water.. Then again, it COULD be a small canoe or something.. But as Xsas said, its impossible to tell for sure from such a distance.

The white object is defnately a boat, but the object in the first picture is anamolous. Hard to tell what it is with the camera being so far away.

Just to comfirm, in my last post I wasen't talkin about the white object, like you said its obviously a boat... A 2nd look at the 1st picture, and it kinda looks like 'Nessy is running from that boat.
Rhomphaia
Jul 18 2005, 07:01 AM
That could be true, but how are you certain which end is the front, assuming that this is Nessie?

Jul 18 2005, 07:09 AM
Well it really is hard to say, I looked at all three pictures, but the camera was just to far away to really tell what it was, but you can see where it moves away, in the other two shots.
matthewgoad
Jul 18 2005, 12:09 PM
Yes, I agree. It is really hard to tell from such a great distance away, but it looks like it could be something to me. I wish I knew how to enhance and stuff to see if I could figure it out.

Tried using photoshop to enhance the image in a few ways. Enlargening, sharpening, tracing the countor lines etc.

There seems to be an odd grey square around the object in question if you can see it. Might be due to the webcams lousy quality or the compression it uses or maybe you drew it in matt?
Anyway - may give you a better look at the supposed 'Nessie'
XSAS
Jul 18 2005, 01:37 PM
Thanks for that FF, I see the square you are pointing out. Matt your not playing with us are you?
matthewgoad
Jul 18 2005, 01:49 PM
No I didn't draw anything in it. I don't use programs like that. I was viewing the website theloch.com under their webcam section. I just happened to find it on there at the right time. So do you think it's Nessie, a boat, or what?
XSAS
Jul 18 2005, 01:53 PM
It looks dome shaped to me almost too rounded to be a boat, damn camera is too far away to make any accurate guess?

Jul 18 2005, 02:08 PM
^ Yes I agree. If the damn camera was a little closer we could make it out much better. But you may have something here, Matt...

The thing that gets me is the little box in the middle of the supposed Nessie. Anyone have any idea what that could be?
Maybe the camera's just crappy.

hey froggy one the grey square is probably a reflection of sunlight off of whatever it is so that's the "nessie"
FireFrog
Jul 20 2005, 01:08 PM
Possibly, beast boy, but it seems somewhat unnatural to me that the sunlight would form a rectangular, grey reflection.
I think it'd be more plausible to say that it occured due to the webcam's compression (you can see the effect it has on the top left of the image) or something similar, assuming it hasn't been tampered with.
Rhomphaia
Jul 20 2005, 01:16 PM
The object in question does appear rounded, and it definately is anomalous. However, we are missing one big piece to explaining what this might be. What is the time taken between each camera shot?
FireFrog
Jul 20 2005, 01:30 PM
About 21 seconds between the first two pictures.
Something bothers me about the lighting of the object... to me it looks out of place...

My wife and I were watching this webcam one night a couple of months ago, we saw something very similar, this object was going toward the bottom right hand of the pic, then turned and went to the left until it disappeared behind the trees.
