I've heard their is actually software that allows one to spy on everything someone does on the internet. Is their such a thing as anti monitoring software? Software that alerts the user that is being spyed on and helps them remove the software that is allowing the person to spy on them?

Just saw this question.
First, get a firewall. Freeware can be downloaded from Zonelabs.
Second, the general consensus is Lavasoft Adaware is among the best of the spyware/adware tools. Also a free download from Lavasoft.

No arguments. I've found that lavasoft does a pretty good job (through experimentation) so on occasion do I use spybot.

I notice your quote about religion. No offense intended, but don't you think the same (about facts, of course) applies to a large percentage of "science"? Naturally excluding my own science, computer science!

through my personal expierience ive found that after running adaware if i run spyboy, spyboy usuallys picks up 1 or 2 things adaware over looked

and about the signature, science is made up mostly of facts, there are the theories of science, but they are tried and tested enough to pretty much be "fact" however scientists know not to actually label them as facts, because they are aware that these findings may change within time

and, im in school for computer science right now cool.gif

Are you sure that is enough if the person spying is also sitting and using your computer?

In this case, if that person is computer literate, I'm not certain there's much you can do, especially if your op system is single user.
One company I worked for installed a lan and made the claim that everything was secure. Hah! I busted into that thing so easily it wasn't even funny, and they never knew I'd been there except I showed them a list of pay records I had printed out (no, I didn't read them, wasn't interested, just wanted IT to know it wasn't nearly as secure as they thught).
Doesn't mean you can't tho. I'm sure somebody has thought something up, I just don't know about it. [I worry only about what goes out and comes in on the net.]
Perhaps someone else knows about this.
Re the adaware-spybot thing: both seem to be good, and I do use both, just one a little more than the other. I spend a lot of time on the web (it's my business) and am cautious about who's listening in. I know it basically can't be stopped if the hacker is really good, but most of them are not, so...

Well, I don't want to get into cryptic discussions about how bad science "facts" can be, especially in a computer forum, so...
Kudos on the computer science thing. I spent over 30 years consulting EE, and actually developed the basis processor for dsp devices(many years ago, millenia in computer time), among a lot of other things. Been in computers it seems like forever. Retired from it, got weary, bored, and annoyed with other people making the money from my work, so developed a neat way to work the futures market. And that's what I do. Unfortunately, once a computer scientist, always a puter scientist.

For spyware and adware...use.. Webroot Spy Sweeper.... PC world magizine rated it number 2. I tried their number 1 pick, sunbelt software, but after using their number 1, spysweeper found some spyware, so I use webroot. I have used spybot and adaware-lavasoft...others too. Spysweeper you have to buy, but does a better job than spybot and lavasoft.
